I hate how people say Serena is a bad sportswoman, classless etc. I've seen her have some brattish moments, but I've seen more of her when she applauds opponents shots, I hear her mutter "good shot" to opponents quite a lot, and as long as her opponent has played a fair match, she always embraces them at the handshake. It's a shame how a couple of incidents at the USO can over shadow this. It's mainly from people who don't watch her regularly anyway.
Serena stated after this match that Maria was playing very poorly. If you watch the whole match Serena is shaking her head at how bad Maria was playing the whole time. Serena knew she wasn't at her best and just took advantage of it. Believe or not Serena has a lot of respect for Marias game and knows what she is capable of. Maria is not easy opponent for Serena, when Maria is playing well.
The way Serena sticks her finger up immediately, to signal #1, is SO disrespectful with the #1 player walking to the net in defeat, I LOVE IT! LMAO. Venus should've done that to Safina when she gutted her 6-1, 6-0 at Wimbledon last year, lol.
