Since I've grown up,gotten married I've completely forgotten my roots, lost track of the artists that inspired me and kept going as a kid and a teen. When Emperor recorded the brilliance that was Prometheus I never thought I would hear that kind of beauty from Ihsahn again. I just learned of 3 albums he put out of the same influence, I've got some catching up to do. I feel whole again.
Shit, it pisses me the fuck off that Ihsahn is barely recognized for his work! I've said this in so many other videos of his songs, but I'll say it again, Ihsahn is a fucking genius!
@MacHinguchef imagine if the two titans of black metal and death metal merge together into one band....opeth and ihsahn...or even bloodbath and emporer. akerfeldt and tveitan in one band would just make the pop die in the bitter flames of win and embarrassment...
@MacHinguchef Uh no. That would be fucking terrible. If the masses of idiots who appreciate Jonas Beiber Montana ever listened to Ihsahn and made it popular, it would be no different from the rest. All forms of originality and creativity would die out and their remixes and remasters will just dig them a hole to bury themselves in. Keep them in the underground. They're doing fairly well just the way they are.
Totally agree with you, this song gives me the same feeling of total coherence than With Strenght I Burn or Empty... Ihsahn's music may not be as brutal as it was in the past. There is one thing that doesn't change at all: in every fucking piece he writes, everything seems to be at its place. I particularly go crazy for the bass in Monolith: makes me remind of Death's best days, as well as progressive bands such as Dream Theater. Ihsahn is actually the father of all of us!!!
You're right!! Checked his name on wikipedia! Actually, I thought it would be Ihsahn's own parts, as he performed the bass parts on most of the Emperor records... What about Spiral Architect, saw it was Norberg's major project? This dude is awesome, really, that's an excellent work on the bass -when bass is usually an underrated instrument in metal music of anykind... Death and Dream Theater, along with Korn or Faith No More, being almost exceptions in this panorama. Thanks for your post!
My mind is fucking blown

Then metal wouldn't be underground anymore, and metal musicians would begin to compromise their music for fame.

It amazes me at how seriously he takes the works of Friederich Nietzsche, but Nietzsche was a genius. Hence Ihsahn being the same

from all his work in his solo career this song is byfar my favorite of all.
