  • They must be the greatest thing for bikes since pneumatic tires IF and ONLY IF the Tour de France riders have them on their bikes. IMO.

  • @popnstart It's too heavy and has a fairly limited gears range for it's size. Nothing can beat the damn old school mech.

  • @YourFatClownAss Forgot to mention its bad efficiency as well.

  • @picmario Thanks for reminding, I am actually engineer ;) !

But if you consider an application where you put that amount of power @ the same torque output, can you imagine the forces that will appear when the moving components will rev at these high speeds ??

I doubt if the bearings of that small bike gear application will be able to cope with these..

  • @picmario And by the way, you will not get that thing rev so much faster than your input rev speed (don´t know the max gearing factor, maybe best to see NUVINCI´s website) for the gearing factor is limited, it is a CVT and not a IVT !!

  • Someone actually held one and they were too heavy

  • @deaftodd

Who as build one of that size (do you remember his name?) and how heavy was it ???

  • @hoverpal it's nuvinci cvt i think. a friend of mine actually held one. we both design electric cars and we rather keep on looking for a better cvt. he didnt say how much they weigh, tho.

  • @deaftodd Thanks Todd ! I might ask the guys from Nuvinci.

  • @deaftodd If you're still looking for a better CVT, just finished designing mine. It is not a variation of anything that is out there. Built mine from scratch without drawing on any previous designs. Compare this nuvinci to the cvt on an old snapper lawn mover from 30 years ago. Worst drawback is the torque limitation followed by the speedy wear of parts from slippage. That's why they put it on a bicycle. It's fine for that. Mine will not slip. • When will you have a larger one to allow 100 hp approx. ?

  • Great concept.

  • I spent £300 on one of these six months ago and it feels like I've got a binding brake all the time, far too inefficient for a bike.

  • Man I want to put that on my bike! If I wasn't trying to get a scooter for longer rides, I'd so be doing this! Very revolutionary idea, kudos to you guys at Fallbrook!

  • nice

  • I WANT

  • that's awesome!!! i want one!!
