Fine has newver been a working actor. Is method is all over the place from Meisner to Strasburg to Stanisvaski. His students heads are being filled with too much business.
@didisnightflyte Meisner and Strasburg and all the rest took from Stanislavski; all variations on a theme, if you are talking about Method and the variables therein. One does not need to be an actor to teach it. Sometimes it can be quite helpful not to be. That's like saying one must be a dog, a dolphin or a horse to know how to train one!
This was very helpful. I didn't know that there was so much research and homework involved with creating a character. I might want to be an actress, but just in case, I decide not to be an actress, I have a back-up plan to be a costume assistant for theatre, film, and tv. I'm going to work hard to get experience and networking, so that can help when I create my resume. :)
It is very difficult to be a working actor, and I'm not trying to dissuade you from it, I'm just being honest with you. When acting, you have to do alot of work, and then essentially let it all go. Watch some great movies, some great actors, and then watch interviews with them. That's what I do and I have learned ALOT. Break a leg!
Thank you for the advice. I'm a person who stutters and a college student. I got cast in a play and I'm working very hard on my character and going to do my best to project my voice and try to stutter easily through my lines. Overall, I'm going to do my best. I love being in theater, it's so great and to work backstage and on stage. I've worked backstage & know how much hard work is involved working backstage. I would like to be able to do theater, tv, and film. I'm willing to do hard work. :)
he was my first acting teacher back in NYC at AMDA in 1983-85
