@ssjin4vegeta Her death is one of the few that has any potential for a sense of poignancy. I guess the guy who 'followed the crystals' had a rooted fear of his weapon betraying him, and Enklund could be worried he'd become a murderer or something.

Anyway for her there could have been not just a fear of rape but a fear of intimacy. Though that doesn't work perfectly since earlier she provided a 'seat belt' for another character and didn't mind it. Ironic since she was just going to get eaten.

Go back and watch Halloween or any of the Friday the 13th films and you'll see that all the characters who are shown having sexual relations in the film, or just thinking about it, would end up as victims. Considering what we get now in movies like 'Saw', it's almost quaint.

the whole film is not a rip off but a tribeut to Alien, Rorger Corman was going to be involved in producing Alien but Walter Hill & David Giler gained the rights, also James Cameron worked on some of the effcts on this film, he use an electrical current on the fake arm in order to get the maggots moving, James would also go onto make the sequel to Alien known as AlienS

Usually "tributes" aren't made only a year after the original was released.

John Carpenter's remake of The Thing was a tribute to the original too, for which he had respect. Rather than remaking it shot for shot he instead stayed closer to to the novel "Who Goes There"? than the original movie did.

My guess is Roger Corman wanted to cash in on the sci fi horror movie genre which had got a huge revival after Alien. There were other long forgotten rip-offs too.
