  • Ok I went out and tried this... and it worked ok.Did it sound good? F*Ck No lol

. I have an old chinese squier strat I use for experimenting on.. you must clamp it to the body of the guitar or sandwich it between the bridge baseplate and the wood of the body.. has to be pressed firmly against a part of the body that resonates. save your 5 bucks

  • No Demo of it working? :(

  • A peezo. lol

  • pinchi Estuped!

  • How to make a guitar pickup? I thought this was 'how to shoot a video so people cannot see what the hell you are doing'. And I almost clicked Like...

  • he! that's not a "pickup" ! it's a fuckin piezo shit!

  • @SDJrekoff Yeah, go look at some piezo pickup videos. John Petrucci uses piezo's for his acoustic sound son his electrics.

  • So I tried it and yea it sux. Good idea but a piezo needs pressure to work and there's no pressure applied to it to work. So yea don't do it.

  • I'm so gonna try this

  • What about the $200 for the guitar? 5 bucks my ass

  • @JaymzIsUS You're an idiot...

  • To help all questioners: All a pickup is a sensitive (to vibrations) microphone, tone and volume pots you get on a guitar, are called variable resistors, they are not necaessery, in theory, this should work, and will work with acoustic (better), though not nylon strings. with acoustic, you might want to be an equalizer system to connect the colored wire to do.

  • what were you talking about????

  • is this a joke

  • "Don't damage the pizza pickup!"

  • does this work for accoustic guitar

  • This is a great video thanks for the info.

  • he was so stoned when he made this

  • it not healthy to look that video...

  • I started liking the video after 1:54

  • wouls it work if i dont take out of the box? you know collectors items are always more valuable insde the box

  • @MrWerike Actually, no...

  • i hope you spent the bucks you saved in a more expensive haircut

  • @UltiMogr

you are a prick, and not a funny one

  • Next time you go to radio shack get some lights

  • Or you can just buy one on ebay for $0.99

  • thought u could have given us a sample of how it sounds. Thank's for the video.

  • you should make a vid of it glued to something to see how it works

  • shouldn't the red wire (cable) go the tip and the black wire to the ring

  • @RoosterLozz Acutally, the red wire would go to the tip, and the black wire to the shield. The ring in a Tip/Ring/Shield is a stereo jack, where as a Tip/Shield jack is mono.

  • Thank you!!! This worked great and I didn't even have to take the black plastic covering off; you have no idea how thankful I am :)

  • will this work with nylon strings?

  • Does this really work?

  • PEE AYE ZO!!!

  • ill make sure to put the pickup on my guitar board guy tyvm

  • weird my name is smashingpuppies

  • probably sounds like shit

  • i made one of these and they work quite well......before starting to make a second one, i saw another youtiube video that claimed you did not have to remove the thin piezo disc from the plastic protective covering.....so i made one without removing the plastic and it works fine, saved me a lot of extra work, and is more likely to not damage the thin disc when removing it, and/or transferring it to various instruments using a sticky peel off glue....aloha, forest

  • What is the part number?

  • no demostration?

  • its not peezo, its PEE AY ZOE!

  • there are 127 cheap bastards

  • if you cover the pickup with silicon caulk and attach it inside the guitar these actually work pretty well especially if mixed with the signal from a soundhole pickup.

  • 0:14-0:15 ahaa! so you have to take the pieces out of the box! now I feel stupid...

  • Comment removed

  • I WAS GONNA LEAVE A RATHER SHITTY COMMENT - BUT THEY HAVE ALL BEEN COVERED - GOOD WORK GUYS - ROFL!!!

  • wow thanks for the tip dude. def gotta try that

  • Be good for an arsehair pickup lol

  • Listen matey. You need the lights in front of you, not behind you. Wasn't that obvious when you reviewed your movie?

  • RANDY FROM MY NAME IS EARL! HOLY SHIT

  • @ClassicTracks2 nice LOL

  • this is not how to make a pick up, but rather how to buy a pick up and glue it on. any one who wants to make one look at diy-happy. he'll show you how to Make one.

  • Do 2 piezos work even better than one?

  • Why would you call yourself drowning puppies? :'(

  • @OobydoobBanoubie I lol'd.

  • Hey man, good job, but a few early shots of the disc were not great but otherwise all you need is at least a strum on an install you did with it. That would be GREATer!

  • @drownigpuppies would this work in a drum set

  • @cinchillalover Yes! However you would still need a drum module (google is your Friend)

  • the

  • IT'S RANDY FROM MYNAMESERLL im subing 4 sure

  • is it okay if i plug it in an electric guitar amp??? cause i'm planning on doing one of these...

  • what a great fucking user name! drownpuppies haha

  • i bet it sounds like a $5 pickup

  • I got lost on the first step.

  • I prefer my DiMarzio D-Activator X DP222

  • "take it out of the box"....damn thats the part I always screwed up on!

  • @frankensteinmoneymac thats why I just leave mine in the box ,its safer

  • how does it play man?

  • Comment removed

  • @bluegrasssingingman Your response to his mistake says more about you than it does him.

  • Comment removed

  • @bluegrasssingingman No, I understand why you wanted to clarify to the audience; I just think YouTube (& the rest of the world) could really benefit from an absence of suggestions provided for the sake of making oneself seem superior to another by being better or smarter as opposed to suggestions provided for the sake of helpfulness, the desire to assist others, and general benevolent altruism. I'm not trying to insult you for insulting the uploader, just encouraging critical thinking. :)

  • @bluegrasssingingman You're a big boy, arencha?

  • Comment removed

  • @bluegrasssingingman Gee, a racist Christian bluegrass foulmouth electronics expert. I bet you're a big hit with the ladies. Or as you call them, "harlots who aren't as pure as mom".

  • @boringsermon

    You're right.

that bluegrass guy is an idiot.

    Argument over.

You sir, are a fucking idiot.

No one said anything about politics or religion.

    Stop drawing attention to yourself.

    You're a terrible christian anyways.

  • Comment removed

  • @bluegrasssingingman so lemme get this straight...you're arguing about religion and politics on a pickup making tutorial?? Am I the only person who finds this beyond hilarious? Congrats dude lol you win the stupid person of the month award. Please stay of the internet

  • @Eggbert1x No i wasn't arguing about religion and politics. So You should know what the heck your talking about, before you open your mouth. How smart can a person be with the name Eggbert?Chickens are dumb.

  • Comment removed

  • @bluegrasssingingman Thank you for the irrelevant insults about personal beliefs, as it invites me to make sure I'm always critically thinking. I appreciate your demonstration of rage and insecurity, so I can remind myself how fortunate I am not to be insane. Take care, bud.

  • @bluegrasssingingman i reallly doubt that your IQ is much higher than the temperature outside

  • Comment removed

  • here's the fun part.........you don't need to take it out of the plastic!!!!!!!

  • @deathcardfilms lol thats what i thought haha cuz these things sell on ebay too

  • u bored the fuck out of me in under 2 mins

  • which is tip. which iis ring? i have the quarter inch jack obviously, but does the black wire (ground) go to the larger of the two pieces of metal?

  • upload a demo showing its playability

  • @jacinth0meadow - seriously? fuck you, get lost.

  • Piezo pickups actually can sound okay but I've had problems with scratchy feedback sounds that arent as warm sounding as magnetic pickups---just an observation here-ha!

  • Piezo transducers (BTW, it is pe-AY-zo, not PEE-zo) are indeed very useful for acoustic guitar pickups. The fidelity is actually excellent. Unfortunately this video should have been shot with better light and composition, and a clearer script. You can buy a regular guitar cord and solder to the leads coming from the piezo element. You can can also solder directly to the blobs of solder that are already on the piezo element, but be careful to not overheat. A clothspin or paper clip will attach.

  • It's easier to buy a pickup with a jack connected lol

  • demo????

  • cant you just cut a guitar cable in one side

and connect it to the piezo?

    i think it will work....

  • thanks man

  • what is the model number of the piezo so i can order one.thanks so much

  • where can i get a guitar jack?

  • @snotshooter find a local music store...some best buys have em

  • that webcam was made for less than $5 too.

  • @ghosterdude that call was epic

  • @ghosterdude i actually have a 6 dollar webcam that works way better! hahahaha

  • you lost me at saulder.

  • solder***

  • Nice!!

  • easier, take a tuning clip and wire it to an input jack. clip it in and plug in ur cable

  • Why not glue 3 or 4 of these bad boys to the inside of the sound board (of a cheap acoustic guitar) and wire them in series and then to an output jack?

  • my name is isaac to.

  • could you post a video of you using this pickup?

  • nice

  • that lookes like an emg lol not

  • i'm thinking about putting one on my electric guitar, i got the idea from John Petrucci, he uses a Piezo pickup in his electric guitars and i think it's to make it sound more like an acoustic, i could be wrong though. can anyone shed some light on this?

  • @ironwolg Yes he does, but not this type. You can buy piezos especially for this. Check out "Ghost" pickups from graphtech. They're built right into the bridge saddles but high dollar. You can get the same effect with a cheap acoustic saddle pickup. I built a custom LP and built in the a fishman pup under the bridge and installed the Fishman preamp in the back. It sounds killer. The Parker Fly was the first to do this back in the early 90's.

  • you think i could get a similar sound with a pickup like this? i know his will be much better but would this be worth trying?

  • @ironwolg - This wouldn't sound like anything on a solid-body electric guitar. You need to buy a bridge with a piezo in it.

  • WHat the good way to attach the disk?

  • @anthomister2 i'm pretty sure that the same principle is used by the producers. so i see no argument against this at all.

  • preety cool i would not do it though but good idea!!!!!

  • I know what Hitler says when his wife tried to switch channel when he was watching Bayern Munich- Werder Bremen. " VUEEEAAAA!!! EVA!!! MEIN KAMPF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • Woooww 7+ :P But a serious thing: DON'T BE SO HARSH TO HIM. Think of if it was u getting the negative comments. I think ur a cool girl ;-) Boy *** Sorry I missed the b-o-y buttons. Anyway... I think ur cool man!

  • Excellent quality 0/ 5

  • @K1rkHammet xD

  • xD 5 stars for the quality =D

  • 99,001st viewer WOOHOO

  • its tip-sleeve not tip-ring

  • how do you preamplifier ??

  • This is good for making an electric banjo.

  • Or you can scavenge around your house or garage for old watches or toys, take the speaker out, and you have a piezo. My guitar, my new one that I made, has a piezo under the bridge and a pickup. Piezos are for acoustic sounds, magnetic pickups are for electric sounds.

  • or you could just buy a dean markley pickup

  • @fenderstrat71 HA lol

  • Bet that pickup sounds like a hurricane exiting a midgets butthole at mach 15...

  • hahaha

  • @StringsCrusader HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @StringsCrusader lol bet it does

  • @StringsCrusader ha i hope so

  • @StringsCrusader thanks for insulting my birthday day

  • @StringsCrusader um, is that an insult? cause i did this and it sounds great, but it echoes and then screches if u get too close to the amp. which happens if you use to much distortion too, its just feedback.

  • @StringsCrusader BEST COMMENT IN THE HISTORY OF YOUTUBE.

  • @StringsCrusader

That's actually a pretty accurate approximation. I don't know what it sounds like on a typical acoustic, but I have a hack-together I built and put one of these in. It feeds back like there's no tomorrow if you're not careful.

  • @StringsCrusader HAHHAHHAHAHAAHHAAHA

  • Could you make a video were it shows how you use it??

  • WTF? You look like you could be my brother. Scary.

  • or i can just buy pickups for $5

  • What pickups are $5?

  • I dunno, but if you enter china you'll find some ;-) Sure they might not work after 3 strums but, they are pickups aren't they?

  • Have fun finding a 5$ pickup

  • pickups are more like 20$

  • hello randy(from my name is earl):)

  • you watch that show to

  • Ya, Why???????????????

  • It works better if you wire a potentiometer inline with the pickup and the jack. The piezo element by itself puts out maximum output all the time if you don't use a potentiometer to lower the output levels.

    Dm

  • you can just make it with a credit card or gift card.

  • how?

  • What are the specs on that transducer?

I could not make it out from the package

due to the video quality. -I went to Radio

Shack and they came in many sizes, Voltages and so on.

  • Yeah I'd rather just go buy a good set of pickups instead...

  • you dont quite get it, hes showing you how to make a pickup for $5. thats a decent project for $5 not 'how to get an amazing tone out of a guitar'

  • First thing is this guy got these instructions on line.. I forget the web site. 2nd horrible video quality. This pickup works ok, but you will need a pre-amp.

  • i like the video man, you don't show how to instal it or how it sounds, but if you're in to it, you can figure out, instead of publish comments without knowing what you're saying

  • shit pickup.

  • If you did this video with more quality next time, id watch it.

  • well, most importantly, show us that the damn thing works or not works.

  • ass

  • in the end i see youre mouth keep moving... but i doesnt hear any sound... :D

  • could you hook this to a usb instead of a guitar jack?

  • you could try, but it probably wouldn't be very pretty. you'd need a converter of some sort, just like with any other pickup

  • just has to be coax

  • yeah but this is for getting the sound of a piezo pickup, they are different than magnetic pickups. Tosin Abasi from Animals as Leaders uses them a lot. it's about personal preference anyway.
