I still use mine now, spoke to a tech guys at Roland when they first came out who sent me some software to upgrade my memory to 250mb after installing a bigger zip drive and also purchased the optical board with seperate outputs
unless you have a zip-drive for your computer, only way of moving is by recording through the line ins/out on th 808/your computer. if you have a zipdrive for your windows-machine, there is a small free program from roland, that lets you dump pad banks and assign wav's to the pads, from a windows interface.
i record them in through the line in. thats it. i get the sounds from my ipod, korg, computer...
there used to be a program somewhere on the net, that let you assign waves to the zip disk from your pc (need a zip in your computer then). but you´l have to google it up
need help! never done any thing like this so after some tips, how to make a continouos loop cut it down to what i want, delete parts i put in but sound good together, trying to do it in song mode, any tips or a dvd would put a smile on my face.
Yeah i listen to everything literally. Most people if they heard me listening to mindless self indulgence wouldnt expect me to like alot of the stuff i do. Not a fan of hall &oates but they do have some songs i really like. Im just gettin used to the 808 and what you can do with it. You should look up Jeremy Ellis James Brown mpc, on here, that guy is awesome
wow! that jeremy elias guy is amazing. you could never pull that of on a sp, the zipdisk works to slow. you probably already noticed that since you´re a drummer, and tried to us it as a drum machine, it works a little, but if you try to record it as a sequence, its always "drive busy". i´ve seen a lot of mpc videos lately on youtube, and the machine seems pretty cool, much more responsive than the sp. there´s a guy called boon doc who does pretty cool stuff too.
nice!! i just got one and a couple synths, to have some fun and make some sounds. Im really a drummer so it suits me to play around with. Is that "sara smile" i hear? i gotta sample that now
Dude... this was absolutely amazing. Badass beat.

I literally LOLd when you played the "sexy" sample at the end and took a drink. Made my night.
Nice beats! Love the sp-808. My first piece of gear.
