Though at first I was kinda sad when I found out Beymer wasn't singing in the film himself, I really think it's even more difficult to convincingly convey the emotions when you're not singing yourself. I mean, when you're singing a song, I think it's quite easy to get to the sole purpose and meaning of it but when you have to just move your lips and do gestures and convey the song's meaning through your acting, I really respect actors that can make that happen.

There is NO SUCH THING. the very concept irks me to pieces. there is no way that you can tell a person is your soul mate just with one look. It is the fact in Romeo and Juliet and it is the same here in West Side Story: if they all had lived to have properly been married and had a married life, they all would have wound up hating eachother in the end
