  • Bette hit #3 in Billboard, 6-28-80. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Shalom, Divine Miss M! Have a blessed week!

  • Listened to this song over the years...many, many years...and I'm still crying by the end of the first verse!

  • A great tribute. Well done

  • Janis Joplin did grow up in a religious home. Not everyone knew that.

  • @Wellch If Janis grew up in a religious home, why would she take up cigarettes?

  • thank you bet middler for the most amazing song I have ever heard... Janice The world lost a great performer who had a lot to say

  • Excellent video and tribute to the late great Miss Joplin. She left us too soon.

  • i love janis joplin and her music

  • R.I.P. janis... =(

  • Wow, finally a real tribute...Amanda McBroom wrote this song for Pearl...But JJ'sfamily refused permission to use that name. Lucky for her. “Pearl” was MUCH harder to rhyme.Thank you from the bottom of my heart...And Janis will be forever "a piece of my heart"...

Some say love, it is a river

    That drowns the tender reed

Some say love, it is a razor

That leaves your soul to bleed

Some say love, it is a hunger

    An endless aching need

I say love, it is a flower

    And you, its only seed...

  • Janis was an icon of the 60's while in Viet Nam her hard drive'n music along with the other greats (Stepenwolf ect.)kept me sane!

I'll always remember her soulfull voice and lament her death. Warchild!

  • Well Done!! PEACE!

  • BRILLIANT...amazing vid...5/5 & fav'd

  • bette midler's and Janice's verions of the rose sound the same.

  • Uh, Janis never did it. It was written eight years after she died... this IS Bette Midler.

  • thanks. many people are like "Janice sang this song first"

  • That'd be a good feat, considering it was written for a movie fictionalizing Janis's death. :-P

  • Janis was the Greatest R.I.P

  • genial merci

  • I just cant help it this brings tears to my eyes!

  • You inspire us ,, the lyrics is really awesome,,, great great!!!!

  • she still rocks on, left great memorys, reminds me all is remembered, sing it'.shout it'',

  • is she the one who made this song first? and ur right STOP LEAVING NEGATIVE COMMENTS!!!!

  • The song is beautiful and Janis kicked ass and was a legend before her time! Any asshole who DOESN'T realize that shouldn't even post here and bringing politics into it is even more retarded! Nuff said!

  • listen to the music - stop the crap

  • If anyone is a dumb ass it is you, Janis Joplin is the most amazing singer that has ever lived, she had soul and spunk and something that no artist can ever compare up to, obviously if you think she is a peice of garbage then I think you don't know much about janis and should go put in your peice of shit TI cd.

  • Evidently you're one of those trolls who think they're slick. Right next to the vid is my profile pic, a Republican elephant. Proud Republican here, go fuck yourself. You're a punk-ass bot for Obama, that's the only reason you're over here starting shit. I'm leaving your comments up even though you're now blocked, just so people can see what type of people support BHO. You're scum who thinks your little second-rate reverse psychology is going to win votes for Obama. Fuck off.

  • Joepall323....geez louise you really are some kind of fool. The fact that you could hear this song and then leave the comment you did proves categorically to everyone here that you are a total asshole. You just put a whole lot of decent people off voting for Obama, They're thinking "if thats the kind of asshole thats voting for Obama count me out". I hope your first born child dies of a drug overdose, that'll fuckin learn you, you stupid dick!

  • You just represent the worse part of America, full of ignorance and mentally compromised. You are probably the kind of republican that give blow jobs in the airport bathroom and had never had a passport. Be careful...maybe one day you will have somebody close to you that has an addiction... No, you are addicted in your own ignorance. Read some books Moron and stop judging ! you piece of moron !

  • il do it when u learn how to spell obama

  • @joepall323 What a maroon. Another know it all (that doesn't KNOW anything). You suffer from a fairly common mental illness. You are very vocal and think you are SO smart while the rest of us are SO dumb. You're like a child. Your anger must come from some past hurt that has manifested itself to focus on a goofy conservative "sense of loss" and nostalgia for a romanticized yesteryear (likely your sheltered childhood). Sad little man. The world has turned and left you behind.

  • That's probably because until you showed up, there were no negative comments. Evidently you saw my channel and some of my other vids, and decided to bring your sorry troll ass over here and say something disrespectful.

  • @joepall323 You may love the song, but she lived the pain, she made the song beautiful, because it came from her heart.

  • @joepall323 You may love the the song, but she lived the pain, she made the song beautiful, because it came from her heart.

  • I wish she had of known how beautiful most of us thought she was.

    Good tribute.

  • I agree with you! I thought Janis Joplin was one of God's chosen ones because she was so talented!

  • As a fan of Janis in the 70's and as an ardent admirer of "The Rose", this was a perfect tribute to both the woman and the song. I have brought both my daughter and granddaughter up on Janis' quote, "Be true to yourself, 'cause in the end that's all you've got".

  • ooo neat video sailor thanks for sending me:) hugs

  • Hello: Yes this movie was a tribute to Janis. I saw it when it first came out in theaters. I was in college, early twenties. It made my heart ache for days, weeks after seeing it. Tragic and beautiful. Debra

  • i think the song is perfect to the movie and to the sad history of Janis Life... RIP BABYGIRL.. HERE ON EART GIRLS KEEP ROCKING!

  • janis joplin didnt sing this song, didnt she?

  • no,the song is sung by Bette Midler,it's the theme to the movie "The Rose",which is based on the life of Janis Joplin...GREAT movie,a must-see!bring your kleenex!

  • @eenkmouse2311 I remember to read somewhere 25 years ago that this song was wrote for the movie but inspired in Janis. Agree with you 200% She is the Greatest Ever!!! (please correct me if I'm wrong about the song)

  • Beautiful. Dang...I'm all choked up. Love her. Your spirit still lives in our hearts and in our songs, Janis. I know you found peace, love, and joy in the Light.

  • Janis Will Live Forever!

  • Not easy to make a video with this song...

But it's a very good job: Janis Joplin is totally awesome & eternal

  • I hate fan made videos but I have to say this was pretty good.

    peace...

  • Great.....Janis forever !!!

  • Your welcome, hey I'm starting out on this Youtube thing. and i want to put together a video, but right now i can't. But can't you do a video on Marilyn Monroe with the song What Ever Happened? The Strokes. Those two will fit together greatly.

  • This song is so haunting. The line "some say love it is a hunger" somehow describe how Janis was. Friends of her say that she was looking for love.

  • why, thank you for the nice comment!
