He loves to sit on the keyboard or on top of the monitor silently and watch Wee Woo. When the videos are over he pecks the keyboard like he's searching for more!

my starling (baby) talk alot lol i find them better then parrots less responsibilty @jojo you can go to a wild life santuarary actually.the dont mind allowing you to take em off your hands. and i dont think itll be cruel they usually have 3 at a tine. i found mines on aside walk about for days old they live to ne 20
Don't take this question the wrong way, but do you think starlings are happy being "pets"? I've rehabbed a few myself, and considered keeping one I became really attached to. But I wasn't sure if a wild animal would be happy that way.
@LoriTheGorey It's hard to say realy. You could say it's wrong because they are wild flocking birds, but on the other side of the argument, the fact that a lot of people are now keeping them as pets means that many more people are now starting to realise that they are wonderful intelligent birds and not just some pest we've been lead to believe, and this can only be a good thing. I think as long as people don't start trapping wild healthy starlings to keep as pets, then it's not a problem.
@Weedtoker590 lot of people in US calling them pest and say how evil they are that lot of other native bird there also do just because they had not nice habit to take over nests and other US bird species have problem to compete with them and also there are not native in US. Sames goes to House Sparrow and ironicaly they became endangered in some of there native regions specially UK
I had one for a while and he seemed very content as a pet. He had a shattered and permantantly crooked wing, even when the bones healed, and could not be returned to the wild.
How do you take care of them as pets? Like.. What type of cage? Food? Etc. I know I'll end up with more orphaned starlings again this year, since every "rehabber" around here only uses them as hawk food. I took it upon myself to help out the starlings since no one else around here will. :/
@LoriTheGorey They need huge cages, called flight cages. Most cannot live together because they think they are humans when raised as babies, so you will need flight cages for each bird you have. They eat dog food, either soaked in water or ground up in a blender to be bite sized. Starlings can live for 20+ years, so do not take it lightly- they require a LOT of care, every day. Mine took up all of my time, every day, and having more than one would be just too much. I do not suggest it at all.
Not a bad idea. Shadow was very precious to me. In fact, I am getting a captive bred E. Starling very soon, a female. I am very excited to have another of these birds- there is nothing in the world like a starling.
May I ask how you got him/her? I want one very bad, and just got informed that the birds tha i have in my shed all summer are Starlings! Would it be cruel to the mother if I take a baby?
.. Now please dont juge me for being '' cruel '' to nature, if im asking its because I care about them. thanks
@Seelenfeuer666, I have a pet starling and mine almost never talks unless there is some kind of background noise, like the radio or the clothes dryer. I think that's why all the talking starling videos have background sounds.
WeeWoo is great even if he didnt talk, nice bond and loving relationship, native to england the house sparrow they are called are free to be captivate and raised in the U.S. cause they are not native to the states, and are very intelligent, awesome,i have a crow thats 17 years old and can let out to fly free and will return, that does talk very well,i love it,your cool, god bless
@MrJoeyambor They are not called the "House Sparrow" anywhere. Their full name is the "European Starling". The House Sparrow is a completely different species of bird.
Neat. Mynah's are really something as well. I remember seeing them as pets as a child and being fascinated. I knew a woman who had a crow also, and he could articulate a little bit, but this starling is really so cool. Thanks for the factoid. Love learning these fascinating things via new friends online!
I'm am owned by 9 birds from Caiques to Cocktiels to Budgies and I have to say this is one of my favorite videos! Please don't ever delete it from You Tube.
I HAD to stop back to watch this again... Weewoo is an amazing talker... Fascinating to listen to him mimic you! ... I have a young sun conure (my third) ... and they're not typically known for talking... but he's trying.
I know this video of yours is from '06 ... I hope all of you are well...
I raised a starling once as well. He used to like to stick his beak in my ear. We released him and were able to continue offering food to him for a few weeks after release, which was neat. Then we never saw him again. If I had it over, I think I would have kept the little bugger. :)
Omg! That is too cute! I love him! Everytime I listen to this, I could swear that after you tell him he's a pretty boy, then tell him that he's a good boy...that he says "keep it coming!" I think that it so funny! I just took one in that my cat got, she can't fly, so I have been feeding and taking care of her! Any tips?

What kind of bird is this?I have never seen a bird like this,so that is why I am asking. You obviously has done a lot of work with this little beauty,so absolutely at least 5 stars for you!
Don't know what some of these folks' problem is. Nothing wrong with any kind of pet if you take care of it. Weewoo seems very happy, and smart! Congrats.
Gimme a kiss, YEAH RIGHT. He can kebab you with that beak! I didnt realise starlings could mimic ur voice, tho my sisters budgie said a few words, cos he heard it lots from their cockatiel i guess, cute. Emma.x
Haha, imagine if he escaped and was sitting in a tree, and asked some kid passing by; "hey buddy, watcha doin?" The kid wud think he was goin crazy! haha.
