Ultimately, the chief of staff answered the SCHIP question in one sentence. But the Iraq war question was never answered...probably because there isn't a valid public justification for the pro-war position. An answer such as "Carl Rove told me to vote yes for the Iraq war" doesn't work too well in most living rooms.

I don't prefer Canada's healthcare system. From what I see and hear, our system is the best in the world. Much of what makes it great is the free marketplace to develop new procedures, equipment and medication. When there is an incentive, we progress. When there are no, or fewer incentives, we stagnate. I don't prefer Canada's healthcare system. From what I see and hear, our system is the best in the world. Much of what makes it great is the free marketplace to develop new procedures, equipment and medication. When there is an incentive, we progress. When there are no, or fewer incentives, we stagnate. That's true beyond medicine.

Hey, if we expand the program by $100 billion, we can cover a whole bunch of people. There is a point where adults have to be responsible for themselves and their families. It may be difficult - mean 12-hour workdays, relocating, selling assets, including a home. The less government involvement, the better off we all are.
