@Gorg5321 : Thanks. I didn't fly in the area before I got the scenery so I can't comment on the frame hit but the performance here is as good as or better than any of the default scenery so I would say the hit is negligible.
not sure which heading, but get your ass to delhi india (dunno airport) and keep going nort north east until you reach the himalayas and its one of the first mountain valleys.
@fgcarva1 Haven't played for ages so can't remember the precise heading but fly from Lukla [VNLK]. Turn left to a northerly heading as you gain altitude & you should see Everest in minutes.
@FMXPRO199 : I can't post links in here but if you expand the vieo info [directly below the video window] details are there. When you get to the sites search everest, or Frank Dainese
@acejakecool19982007: There's so many different things that can affect performance. In my experience the biggest hardware factors are CPU & RAM. If you Google improve fsx performance there's quite a few advice pages.
i have a gt240 and i can run ultra high and all sliders across in scenery so ultra ultra high lol. Ive updates my driver works great now that has increased fps.
No idea but FSX is more dependent on processor & RAM than the graphics card - although the card might come into play more if you use the DX10 preview mode.
ya im planning to get that in an alinenware M15x turbo 2.8 GHz with 1GB Nvidia GTX 285 and 4GB ram, that should be enough to run FSX and CoD 4 and MW2 at max settings?
i wuldn't if i were u coz there too expensive and not worth the price... believe me ... get an ordinary case or a smilodon one, a GTX 285, ddr3 1600, two velociraptor 10000 rpm hard drives (one for fsx one for windows etc) aus P6T deluxe V2 motherboard and win7... i got exactly that i have graphics on the highest settings and get about 23 fps with a PMDG 747 in VC in Manhatten in a thunderstorm... u can save about 400 - 1000 euros... if u DIY or get a local PC shop to build it....
I got it from avsim but I'm not sure if that's fully operational. If you google "frank dainese" you should be able to find the scenery. Googling "himalayas mesh" should find a suitable hi-res mesh.
You can do this yourself very easily, for free and anywhere you want. Just get a good mesh and FSET. It's a simple program to use and makes amazing scenery!
I've googled FSET & found nothing relating to scenery design but I'm seriously intrigued! I've seen a few apps promising this and I've always been put off by the fact that something that sounds too good to be true usually is.
Would be great if you could post a vid showing a scenery you've made with it c/w links in the info. If it really is that good then it's just what I'm looking for.
Trust me, it's amazing, I've tried it for real on FSX and it's simply terrific. Unfortunately it's not nearly as good on fs2004, and I mostly use fs2004. Anyways, just google fs earth tiles, and in a few clicks you'll find a link to download it on fspassenger's website (firts result). Don't worry, you shouldn't be disappointed!
I've removed & re-installed FSX since making this video so I can't remember the settings used, but in my new HD video of this scenery I've listed the settings I used for that in the info. The settings used here will have been similar.
Airwolf can XD mach 1 + helicopter soon to be realeased to RC5 the developer edited the cnfg so that it flys like a normal helicoter but then press a button and the turboes engage goeing from 300kts to mach 1+ 9.8 seconds after igniton, then it preforms like a jet. =]
I just looked, it's defo there. On Avsim the filenames are everest_p1.zip & everest_p2.zip - make sure you're in the file library then search for those 2 names.
When you download the 2 zip archives from avsim [see start of video], extract the archive & you'll find installation instructions. It's basically just a matter of copying a few files to the addon scenery folder in your FSX folder, and activating it in the scenery library from the settings area in FSX. Good luck.
I never said FSX was realistic [quite the opposite in my other videos]], but which bit's impossible in this clip? At below 30,000' Everest's summit is well within the Learjet's 51,000' service ceiling.
Hi, thank you. I can't remember if I had dx10 preview mode running at the time but I don't use it at all now, it interferes with some add-ons. Also, I use REX [Real Environment Xtreme] now & everything looks better with that than it did using dx10. [see my newest video for an example]
can I have this graphic on GeForce 5500 FX.... i am playing this game more than 4 years and i want better graphic i am playing it on this computter whit GeForce 5500 FX. I heard for something like FPS ?? but how what i dont know nothing about that... PLEASE TELL ME :D:D:D:D

thanks, but i used fraps to do it too, the quality is great, only problem is that when i use fraps about 30 seconds is about 1 gb, how you lowered it?
fraps doesn't compress recordings on the fly [to minimise the hit on framerates] that's why the files are so huge. I used the fraps video to make the file I uploaded using windows movie maker but there's a bunch of programs available that will just convert the video to a compressed format... just search video converter on download d0t c0m.
i have and AMD 64 live i think its 2.2 or 2.4 ghz 2 gigs of ram but its all slowed down by my video card its an ATI x550 do you thin i can run this at more then 10 fps?
Again, it's hard to say for sure. I'd expect you should do fine in most areas, possible getting a lil jumpy in dense scenery areas using high settings.
I've heard the processor & memory are far more important than the graphics card in giving FSX a smooth ride & my experiences seem to back this up. The card may come into play more if using the DX10 preview but in my opinion the changes in DX10 aren't that big a deal.
There's far too many variables in FSX to hazard a guess at framerates. The biggest improvements I noticed were when I went from single core to dual and when I went from 1 to 3 GB of RAM - your computer is one up on both counts so should handle it very well. The Graphics card really doesn't seem to make that much difference in FSX.
Some tips: If you want to get the best do some googling for fine tuning FSX.CFG, and if possible install it on a secondary hard drive (that increases disc I/O speed)
Thank you very much for your help, I already have a 250gb external HDD anyway and that's what i keep my FSX and add-ons on. Also I'm you video has helped me get a perspective on how well my computer will work. Once again,
You're welcome, but [to the best of my knowledge] a USB2/firewire external drive won't be as fast as an internal SATA drive - this is backed up by my experiences in trying to play HD video from my USB2 external.
I've now got a 1TB internal 'slave' drive but because FSX takes so much trial & error to get just right, it's going to be a while b4 I get to re-installing it, nevermind making new vids lol!
I'm no expert I'm afraid. All I can recommend is making sure that the new scenery is placed higher than the default scenery in the Flight Sim scenery library.
Avsim [it won't let me type a link so use google]. You need to sign up but it's free & safe, I've been on the site over a year with no problems. Once signed up, go to the file library. I sometimes have problems downloading from there in Internet explorer - that may just be my settings, but it works fine with firefox.
okay, i know how to add aircraft but i dont know how to add scenery, could you please message me or respond to this comment on where to put the downloaded file and then how to add it in the fsx database thing or whatever it is? thanks i love the vid btw.
Thanks for the comment. Adding scenery is usually pretty easy, instructions are usually provided in a readme file, but in brief, it's usually a case of copying the folder containing the scenery to the ADDON SCRENERY folder in your FSX installation directory. when you next start FSX, click the SCENERY LIBRARY button in settings. Then click ADD AREA and select the folder that you've just added. When you click ok to exit the scenery library, the job's done. Good Luck...
I still have it & it's still going strong :) It was running so well I completely 4got about it. Going to have to upgrade soon tho because I want to add an extra HDD.
why should it cause any damage to the components? simply put, it is just not enough power. it's like trying to run a marathon but you have only trained for 10K. It won't harm any components but at the same time it slows your system down.
I'm not quite sure, I only found out about the power requirement after getting the card - it was a bit foolish in hindsight but I just couldn't w8 to get the new card in [I only had GeForce 6150SE onboard graphics previously].
It's had 3 weeks of heavy usage now and nothing's fried... *WHEW!*
Sweetness!

Good Luck...

why should it cause any damage to the components? simply put, it is just not enough power. it's like trying to run a marathon but you have only trained for 10K.

*WHEW!*
