It must be hard to sing a song of this magnitude and not be emotional? At 4:27, I saw that in Carrie. My nephew daughter lost her husband Marine Lance Cpl. Alejandro J. Yazzie in Afghanistan. Unlike this song, they were newly married and she was carrying his child when he was killed. She had his baby and it's a beautiful baby boy name after his late father who sacrifice his life for this country.

@nickiibrenton , the reason, Carrie was crying at 4:27 in this video, because was her mother was sitting right in front in the second row crying and that's why Carrie was crying and she even said that when she picked up the award for Female Vocalist right after this performance.

Isn't this the performance where she said it was hard to sing with her mother crying in the front row? If I remember correctly, a soldier's widow introduced the song. It was a very moving performance.

I agree. This was the first time I'd ever heard her. Since then, I've gone back and collected as much of her broadcast video as possible. Interesting that she started off on American Idol and surpassed expectations from her auditions back then.
