I gotta say i really do love my 96 z71 but here lately its been makin me wonder if they all are built to the same standards. First the fuel pump went, then it wouldnt start at all when it got around 15 degrees out. The air conditioner is losing freeon and the brakes went last week, and after i got that fixed, the seal in the axle went and i lost all the oil. I bought it with 87000 on it and now it has 91000. Did i get a lemon or what?
I have a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado, my step-dad bought it in May of 1998 with 26,000 miles on it, he put up to 246,000 miles on it, I put it up to 265,000 miles, the motor has never been overhauled, the transmission has had only shift linkage problems, and it still hauls major ass running down the road, we've beat the livin piss outta that truck and we have never been able to kill it!
I have a 1996 Chevy C1500 Truck. I Bought it new on July 6,1996 at Mike Daugherty Chevrolet in Sacramento,CA. It has 96,175 miles on it. Complete documentation and every registration card dating back to 1996. Great truck, I like this bodystyle over the current GM trucks. I never part with this truck.
Man this just makes me miss my dad...He loved his Chevys and I promise him that I will pass the chevy tradition on...It will be one year since since he left 01/13/09....
Makes a Ford boy at heart DAMN PROUD of his 1996 Chevy C3500 Dually. It's workin on it's second Vortec 350 and 4L80E after 344,357.6 miles as of 11-22-2009. It's been a Damn Good Truck to me.
@osathebeagle I never said it turned me lol. That ol' chevy finally gave up the ghost in october of '10, and I've been driving a Ford since then, but I'd be lying if I said that chevy served me poorly. IDK, I like my Fords, and I liked that Chevy, Dodges are ok, but when all is said and done, they all break down, they all need attention at some point or another. The biggest difference being the dealership you go to when you get repair parts.
Ya I agree I thing the like a rock slogan was much better than this america revolution crap... Revolution of plastic crap.. I gota 97 Z71 and I wouldn't trade it for nothing. o ya and gas was like .95 cents when this was made.
These commercials got me to buy chevy's year after year. I'm still with my recent 99 Silverado. This may be our country, but chevy's are still like a rock.
I love my 1996 chevy silverado its a beast!!

My dad's friend has an 01 Silverado 1500 with 5.3 liter V8, automatic tranny and the Z71 Off Road Package.
I think Chevy's best ad campaigns were "See The USA In Your Chevrolet (Oprah Winfrey's FAV)", "The Heartbeat Of America" and "Like A Rock".
