When you hear Part 13 on You Tube of his On Tour Rehearsal sessions on March 30th,1972 of Lawdy Miss Clawdy,Release Me,and CC Rider. They sound like if all three songs were performed live at Madison Square Garden in NY in June 1972 which all three never were in the song track set in all 4 shows from June 9th to June 11th. That's All Right opened up all 4 shows instead of CC Rider. Las Vegas prior to the Madison Square Garden engagements was the only other place That's All Right opened shows
I get chills and tears in my eyes every time I hear and watch Elvis. And i am only 17, Its AMAZING how someone from 30-50 years ago can effect me now. He will always be the greatest entertainer to ever live. He was beautiful, kind, humble, generous, charming, gifted, and devoted to God. No one will ever come CLOSE to reaching his standards and level of perfection and talent.
The Saturday Evening show on June 10th actually had 2 LPs on RCA with Sides 1,2,3,and 4. but they were never released in all stores. From what I read the quadrophonic 2 LP set of the show actually sounds as good as the Aloha From Hawaii 2 LP set
The reason why the evening performance on June 10th was the only one of the 4 shows from June 9th to 11th that was released on RCA was because the other concert recordings has the sound recorded too fast no thanks to a-hole Colonel Tom Parker trying to fit more songs onto one LP instead of making all the concerts into a Double LP set with Sides 1,2,3,and 4 like all the shows should have originally been as Aloha From Hawaii was.

@ErichH68 what does elvis at the garden have to do with MJ? Are you one of those asswipes that cant get any pleasure out of just listening to a great artist and leaving it at that? You have to put up an argument about this one vs that one to have something to do
awesome . .I never knew this show was filmed .. have owned the "As Recorded Live at Maddison Sqr Garden" album since the 70's. . never ever knew it was filmed. AWESOME!!!
I agree this was the show to filmed professionally. There are rumors that some TV footage was shot for news??? Missed opportunity. Elvis was much more "active" during this show than the ALOHA show. Thanks for the few fans that took our 8mm cameras to those concerts in the 70's. We did what we could with what we had.
One of the biggest mistakes in musical history is that the Madison Square Garden Elvis performance was never professionally put on film and televised.
@asmedious TRUER WORDS WERE NEVER SAID!!!! I TOO SAW THE SHOWS AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN...OUT OF THIS WORLD BREATH TAKING!!!! SOMEONE SOMEWHERE HAS VIDEO OF THOSE MSG SHOWS SINCE VIDEO CLIPS ARE ON YOU TUBE...IT WOULD BE ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS IF THOSE VIDEOS COULD BE FOUND, COMPILED & A FILM/DVD OF THE SHOWS MADE TODAY....WHAT A HIT THAT WOULD BE!!!!!! I'D BE FIRST IN LINE!!!!!
@asmedious Yeah Col Tom Parker was an asshole. He decided instead to have a Cancer Fund Charity Concert Televised in Hawaii rather than the Madison Square Garden Show No.3 which was recorded on RCA. Also the Madison Square Garden show No.3 was not only opted out for the Satellite TV Special for Honolulu Hawaii but it was released by RCA as a single LP set rather than the 2 Double LP set it was also originally planned for. con't
@asmedious Parker and RCA missed out on a once in history oppurtunity to have the show not only released in all store on RCA as a Double LP set but worst of all the show being broadcasted on TV around the World Via Satellite before over a Billion people which was a high percentage of the World's Population at that time in 1972.
I agree Madison Square Garden was my favorite released Concert of Elvis Presley because of the Song selections on it. It was also the first one of his I bought on 8 Track Tape in the Summer of 1972. Aloha From Hawaii was my close 2nd favorite.
Just finished reading Careless Love by Peter Guralnick ... Elvis was a fantastic performer, but a very mixed up guy ! There's no doubt about it ... the management of his career was designed to 'contain' him ... it was all driven by financial gain rather than by creative drive, and his hangers on were no more than instruments in that containment. If only Tom Parker had had as much vision as he had business acumen, Elvis might well have still been with us today !
This is my fav album of all time these first few songs: # That's All Right"
# "Proud Mary"
# "Never Been To Spain"
# "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me"
# "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'"
# "Polk Salad Annie" are incredible. Then he does impossible dream.... I just love him and the band. I cant believe after all these years i'm now watching him sing it live I knew he wouldn't let me down. How many artists can move and sing as good as him?
Elvis' rendition of this tune would make John Fogerty very proud I'm sure. He is the King - and my favorite singer. i do hope that they release this concert in full
This footage is awsome!-good how you LIP SYNCD it!!(i would to see the whole concert).is this availbable somewher??(i know its a bootleg dvd)..i got the album(who hasnt)..Elviis knocked em Dead(graceland/epe/should release this if they have in the vaults)..THANK YOU for sharing...Always Elvis.
elvis broke attendance records at madison square garden 1972. the whole show was a success. then why didnt colonel parker sign elvis to play the garden again. thats one the many questions that remains unanswered. i think parker was scared of elvis getting too popular and therefore more unmanageable. cstanchik
Hello all elvis friends, does anyone know if there could be a whole show of this fantastic MSQ concert?? i think that there must be enough bootlegs around to make that?? anyway thanks .
scottydog1407...NO, Elvis on tour was filmed from April 4-19, 1972. This was filmed June 10, 1972.2 months later. Extra, For Beatles fans...It was Backstage before THIS concert that George Harrison met elvis...Elvis hoped george would enjpoy the show. George replied "I Know i will"...
the look on elvis face said it all.he couldnt believe how popular he was,. he couldnt accept that after then 18 years in the business people still came to see him. he was very humble. cstanchik
How I wish we had the camera technology then that we have now. Some beautiful images of Elvis lost to the ages. Nevertheless, I do appreciate this video!
Totally agree with you. Discovering Elvis has awakened joy in my own sexuality and my own body...I love him and I am grateful to the work he did in his life which seemed to involve fetishing his very being towards the end....long live the King!!!!

correct, John Fogerty is the writer for lyrics and music for this tune. He wrote it after receiving his release from the US Army. Ike and Tina did it in 1975, but CCR did it in 1969 and elvis did it in 1972
You're right John Fogerty wrote the song and it was first recorded in 1969 on the CCR album Bayou Country. It was their first top ten hit on the U.S Pop Chart. Many artist have covered it I love the way Elvis does it. Then again I love the way Elvis does every song. Hell he could make the ABC's sound like a choir of angels were singing it.
Elvis was an innovator in every thing, Elvis the singer Elvis the movie star Elvis the live on stage performer Elvis the fashion Icon the guy had all , he never had to alter his face in any way as he looked like a Greek God he was total perfection from every angle he had the full package . Thats what makes him the King and you cant change that no matter how you try .
elvis was a good singer, but his indian counterpart in india called mohammed rafi was a better singer than elvis, no disrespect to the king, but youtube mohammed rafi and listen for yourselfs, but like i say, no disrespect to elvis.
is this concert on any DVD anywhere if its not I want to know why?
Just listen to the power of his voice in this song
I have never seen this before like i have been a fan since I was 5 years old now I'm 24 like i have heard him sing this song but not this version and this is the first time i have seen him perform it so its pretty cool. ELVIS RULES music that's all i have to say BEST EVER.
elvis was responsible for all the groups and singers like tom jones wanting to be in showbusiness. he is the mecca! he is the most important. yes i love jacko and madonna but elvis reigns above all. long live the king. this is absolutely one of the best versions i have ever heard
just...A KING

Actually Creedence Clearwater Revival is the original. It was written, first performed and first recorded by John Fogerty.

I'm sorry, but Creedence Clearwater Revival's version is the original version.
operababe2010 2 years ago 6
correct, John Fogerty is the writer for lyrics and music for this tune.

Hell he could make the ABC's sound like a choir of angels were singing it.

well elvis has a voice that will never be again. Elvis changed the music business bigger than anyone else. Michael jackson just kinda kept it going

Elvis was an innovator in every thing, Elvis the singer Elvis the movie star Elvis the live on stage performer Elvis the fashion Icon the guy had all , he never had to alter his face in any way as he looked like a Greek God he was total perfection from every angle he had the full package . Thats what makes him the King and you cant change that no matter how you try .

elvis was responsible for all the groups and singers like tom jones wanting to be in showbusiness. he is the mecca! he is the most important. yes i love jacko and madonna but elvis reigns above all. long live the king. this is absolutely one of the best versions i have ever heard
kathryn8169 2 years ago
There would be No Beatles if there had been no Elvis. Another reason Elvis is more important.
