hey in building a custom explorer shape....a custom guitar needs a custom paint job right?? (great look to urs btw =)) but 2 questions: 1. can u use any kind of paint? and 2: When u use the lacquer, does it smooth it out? thanx
Lol thanks to your dad for doing it for you, a very nice job, is that you playing the backing music, very nice whoever played it, in fact, just a nice guitar, lucky man
yeah theyre pretty good, im borrowing my friends ibanez at the moment so i have a good comparison and its way way better than an equal priced ibanes grg
I'm doing the same thing, kind of. I'm just sanding my guitar down, to get the natural wood finish, not repainting it. But I wanted to know if the pickups were hard to put back in? I know you have to solder and stuff, and I've never done that before. I'm going to throw some Dimarzios in mine, so I was wondering if it's pretty easy, cause i dont want to pay someone else to do it.
So it's just simple "match the wire" type stuff? Is it possible to solder something to the wrong part and fix it? BTW, the finish on your guitar is amazing. I'm doing it on the same guitar.
first of all, AMAZING JOB DUDE. second of all, im getting ready to paint a standard whit tele pickguard black. do i need to sand it or anytihng before i paint it or will it hold over the original colour?
for the best results you should take it down to the bare wood, prime properly, wetsand the primer, apply paint, apply clearcoat, wetsand clearcoat to take out "orange peel" feel and look, then let cure for a week+ before using. That's the optimal way to get the best results. If you just ruff up the old paint and apply a new color itll only result in headaches and poor results(well maybe not poor...but not as good as it could be)
really? you are fantastic... so how do you learn to play an electric guitar? Have you got any books or videos? I love Nightwish, Tarja, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Sonata Arctica... so I started to play the electric guitar in November 2008. I have some home made guitar from my friend, I will buy ESP-LTD M-50 in Februar, but I am from little city, so I don`t know anybody who can play electric guitar. I am a girl so everybody just laugh me all the time that I want to play electric guitar...
lol thanks, you have good taste in music my friend :D
i ust sorta learned just by practice, im self taught i dont see the point in lessons, and the M50 wont let you down, im saving however for a pro series RR3...
oh xD thank you :) ok, I will be watching your videos and practice... I hope, that in January 2012 I will be playing guitar like you xD last question... did you start with metallica... or did you play something easier...?
yup you can use spray paint, I painted my M-50 black and gold Van Halen Style and gave my flying V pinstripes like the RR3 Pro , all using tape and spray paint, both turned out great. Let the guitars dry well over night then use a razor to trace the tape before pulling it off. and be careful not to slice too deep.
very nice

How many coats of white did you do to cover the black and did you let it completely dry before you took off the masking tape.
Also hoe long did you wait before doing the clear coat.
