they get a big sound coz they have a synth guy, and their sound guy knows their songs perfectly so when they play live he obviously knows when they need volume boost etc :P

No backing tracks. To make their sound thicker and more anthemic the bassist uses pedals and (I think) rackmount units to add octaves and synthlike effects.

In addition, all three of them sing. This is why they make such a huge sound.

@zab666 - there is no backing tracks on this, guitar rythem and around 1.35 is different from the recording and at 1.05 abouts there is a slight mistake in the bass. there would be no point in them using a back track here.

Best band in the world ever in my opinion!!! Although Rage are an amazing live band, biffy are a lot more creative with their music, especially their older stuff.
