Those are referred to as slider notes. You can either use the slider bar on a World Tour or GH5 guitar or play them as regular hammer-ons and pull-offs, though with a slightly different timing window.

Well, you can play Guitar, Bass, Drums, and Vocals on each song. You can also download various songs off of the Xbox Live Marketplace/Playstation Store/Wii Shop Channel (the latter uses an in-game store to access the channel). If there isn't much on-disc you like, you can always download additional songs (160 MSP/$1.99/200 Wii Points per song and 440 MSP/$5.49 for a 3-pack of songs).

As for uploading songs, you can't upload customs. However, the game has a music studio where you can make your own songs. On all versions except PS2, you can upload your songs to GHTunes for others to download as well as download songs other people have made.

If you've never played a Guitar Hero game before, it's best to start on either Easy or Medium. When you can 100% a good number of songs on Medium, the jump to Hard will be difficult because of the orange fret button, but keep practicing.

I never said it WAS 100%. The slider notes in this game have the most awkward timing window (if one note's timing window runs into another's and you hit the first, you cannot hit the second by holding the second [lower] fret, then releasing the first [higher] fret), any quick and complex parts like in Beat It are near impossible for me to 100%

perhaps Rock Band 1 was, but you have to consider this: Rock Band 2 can be combined with Rock Band 1, there are collectively alot better songs on Rock Band 2 that GHWT, good downloadable tracks (who can be beat Boston and Metallica?) and honestly, if i were to get this game, it would only be for Beat It. i dont really see any other songs that i would enjoy playing.

That won't work. It actually serves no purpose when playing regular notes. It actually counts as a strum without anything held if used outside slider notes.
