  • the blitz actually started on september 7th, but all the same,, murrow is brilliant and this is piece of contemporary history is sacred

  • "It looks like a ship passing in the night."

    Poetry, meet journalism.

  • Great. Thanks!

  • the man is a poet.

  • Wonderful!!

  • the legendary stiff upper lip o' the brits is keen. ah those spoiled americans, with their running willy-nilly about because some high buildings fell down upon themselves.

how far has been the fall of the great!

  • @pvelectric The brits kind of negated the stiff upper lip thing when they made fools of themselves over Princess Diana's death. How far the mighty have fallen.

  • @kaymad And an awful lot of us didn't you know...those who did are, in my slightly biased view, a bunch of simpering mindless tits

  • This is REPORTING. (And this is a journalist speaking:)). Thanks to Murrow's great skill with the English language, he created precise images with words; and what a voice. Not to mention his willingness to risk his life for the story. Extraordinary.

  • Haunting!!-----I was right there with him

Ed Murrow-was a special person in a time of desperation

    Steve.

  • No one could do this now! Such professionalsim in the face of death.

  • Murrow was the best. What descriptive narration. No pictures necessary.

  • I wonder what he'd have said if he could have seen what London 60 years later would be?

  • Probably exactly the same thing he says throughout this video.

  • Great job! Keep it up.

  • wheels 773..did you cut the clip in certain sections??

  • I did not edit the audio, but I think this clip I found was an edited version of the original longer version.

  • Very well done and effective.Thank you. Hope you carry on.

  • - i go to edward r murrow hs right now :P

  • excellent

  • ahah i like the way u did this vidoe

  • genius

  • What an incredible juxtaposition! The contrast between Murrow's narration and all those sirens in the 1940 Blitz and seeing all the contemporary tourists seemingly clueless about how the very continuing existance of these seemingly timeless monuments (and London itself) was quite perilous at that point of time. Murrow's narration is such that I actually was able to picture it'behind' the contemporary scenes. Excellent work!

  • Thanks for this. Excellent.

  • That was so clever, well done. Any more vids in the pipeline?

  • You are SO creative and very inspiring!

  • This is fricking amazing. I get it now. He's just...wow.

  • Nicely done Wheels! Szmulewicz would be proud

  • Very clever, Wheels!

  • pauly your a clever gent
