  • For some reason this song always reminds me of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.

  • I can get where Jools got the decor idea for the annual Hootenanny. ;-)

  • True South London Boyz:)

  • How do you make a 2 minute video shine? Ask Squeeze.

  • great song

  • shame such a cool band had to make such a 'standard' video. record company vid.

  • Hello Dali.

  • If this don't mak you smile, seek help!

  • <3

  • Great tribute to Rene Magritte the surrealist painter.

  • @theschizoidman I was thinking Salvador Dali.

  • This is a great video. I've not seen it before and I'm a Squeeze and Difford and Tilbrook fan!

  • whahey, I did it.

videos dot sapo dot pt slash 9wrkvSc36zDLqtMlpSMh

  • user sliv812 has a 3:06 version of this clip (full one methinks?) but I can't watch it from where i live. Maybe you guys can? /watch?v=Z4U8RCN1kfU

  • Great and catchy song, but what is it about? Take what to the bridge? Throw what overboard?

  • Jools hamming it up for the camera, as always! That make-up looks Chaplin-esque.

  • these guys had some really fun & clever lyrics...don't hear that much anymore :-(

  • Love the accompiament. Very simple but so effective.

  • sheesh, that ended quick...

  • Babylon and On-great recording

  • VEVO had a perfect, clear version of this, but they blocked it from the USA. I hate music companies. I hope they all go out of business, then we can watch any videos we want.

  • Hit #15 pop, #22 rock, #45 AC in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • Immensely creative....

  • I had almost forgotten about this! Love it! What fun!

  • saw these epic dudes live last year, so cool LOVE this crazy vid, so hilarious!

  • Video is Temporary. It Degrades as fast as the interest of the

subject. It is a great medium for the news and commercials.

A tool for the talentless wannabe filmmaker. The ruin of an

art form that can be had at Wal-Mart. That's why.

  • true...E Costello would have been proud to sing along with one

  • Why does the video fade out so soon?

  • This is pretty catchy.

  • I can't sing really fast.

  • Take me Im Yours is easily their best song.

cujo - 4 years later Oasis came on the scene, and nothing was ever the same again.

  • Dali would be proud!

  • i love this song now, its my favorite part of the new chuck e cheese fall show =]]

  • its so sad seeing this class song, whats happened to the uk now, this is good old days.

  • Awesome. Timeless. Just Great...

  • I luv this video...it was innovative for its time, and reminded me of Alice in Wonderland which I luv also.

  • my mom love this song

  • 0:58 love that part

  • Saw Glenn Tilbrook at Derby, Flower Pot a few months ago, him and an accoustic guitar - awesome, everyone up for this song.

  • this was such an innovative video in the 80's and I still luv it, as I do Squeeze!

  • cool video

  • Wow, the memories.

    AWESOME!

  • Has some good examples of forced perspective.

  • Top notch music!

  • Great vid!!!!!!!!!

  • The former drummer Gilson Lavis reminds me of Rockapella's Barry Carl.

  • Don't watch this video or listen to this song on acid.

  • me gusta mucho este video

  • lots of illusions and you didn't do the whole song because I saw it and there was supposed to be a mirror that is actually water.

  • Their biggest US chart hit but "Tempted" gets more play on the oldies/classic rock stations these days.

  • awesomely catchy

  • Squeeze...not even this very good song was not appreciated as it should have been....Sqeeze didnt make it to Holland unfortunately....

  • I saw Squeeze/A Flock Of Haircuts/The Producers in a small ass club (100-200 people?) in around the summer of 1982 here in Grand Rapids,Michigan.....I had front row seats when Squeeze (the headliners) came on.....

They opened with "Is that love?".

Still talk that concert to this day.....

Am going to go see them in Detroit in August! yahh!

  • I think you meant Flock of Seagulls and Haircut 100. Sounds like a very cool show.

  • I think you meant Flock of Seagulls and Haircut 100. Sounds like a great show.

  • A Flock of Haircuts....lol

  • ah the flashbacks..boy those were the days...now i laugh at the way we dressed ha ha

  • I miss 80s fashion and music.

  • When I was a kid I sang the chorus of this song to Tilbrook backstage...I'm told he loved it. XD

  • remember when mtv didnt have millions of ads

  • Love Squeeze-this one is classic!

  • Geezer alert: I remember hearing this song live in the '80s, and really liking the guitar riff--which is subdued in the album mix.

I saw Squeeze and 10,000 Maniacs in a dinky auditorium in Phoenix. I think tickets were less than $15.

  • Its great being a geezer...we got to live this stuff in its prime.... Man I can remember when MTV actually had music video's. I remember staying up late to see the Thriller video for the first time.

  • Ah, the $15 concert ticket. Now THAT'S nostalgia.

  • That's awesome!! I saw 10,000 Maniacs for a $5 cover...Fantastic!!

  • Excellent video!

  • How very intelligent.

  • This video is so much fun!

Beats watching gangstas lounging in da club any day.

  • @A550RGY

Yeah, I hear ya' on that! Music videos today are just artists (if you can call them that?) lounging in da club, hot tube, and showing off in front of the camera.

  • @A550RGY with phoney friends, the fake jewely, and the over paid hooker from 4th and Main

  • I'd forgotten about this one, cool!

  • vid would've been cool on acid-too old to drop now.

  • Brilliant vid!!!

  • Cor blimey, I haven't heard this one since it came out I think, about 20 years!!

Fancy stumbling across it now on my Squeeze findings on here! lol

  • are you sad

  • i guess you figured we only want to see half the video?

  • Great song and I'm a big fan but have you ever tried singing B52's 'Love Shack' over it? Think about it and try it.'Looking for a loooove getaway...(take it to the bridge...)Just a thought.....

  • The first time I heard this song was when I shopping in a mall in Orlando, FL. The lyrics and consumate musicianship stuck with me.

Now 2 years later in Australia I find the song.

    Pure magic

  • Ah yes,I remember seeing this back in elementary school on MTV. The sweet memories these brings back.

  • cool visual effects

  • Glenn, Jools, Chris and Gilson were

the heart and soul of Squeeze. Although Glenn might not possess the vocal chops of Paul Carrack, the songwriting abilites of Difford and Tilbrook can be compared ONLY to Lennon and Mc Cartney. They were indisputedly second best to the two Beatles during the halcyon days of rock. NB---Gilson Lavis is really Bill Parcells in disguise. :-)

  • This is a fun song.

There's another version of this which

    about a minute longer (3:06 vs 1:54)

with the sax and conga solo.

  • The goofy effects look like something the

Beatles would have done in the 60s. Especially given the look of the telephone.

They used to all look like that with the rotary dial, kids.

  • Personally they are one of the greatest + most talentist groups ever to have been produced in british history!! U dont get bands like this anymore where you like almost every song they've done, some crap out nw and thats comin from a female of 18 haha, some of my mates would laugh at me for liking them but i dont giv a shit, they odviously dont appreciate good music!!

  • I listen to Oceansize and all the newest music now, but I still listen to squeeze, there's nothing else like them they're fucking ace, their chords taught me loads and their solos taught me the importance and simplicity of scales

  • Personally they are one of the greatest + most talentist groups ever to have been produced in british history!! • They can stick to all thier rap crap n dance crap, although some dance stuff are good. Im stayin in a time warp and stickin to squeeze n all the other oldies that i love!. Do you like any other old bands?

  • Too bad the vid is truncated. You lose 2 stars for that. But in its original length this is 80s music video at its best: filmmaking and fun, where the inspired special effects (albeit the tried and true forced perspective) do not eclipse the song itself. It's been mostly downhill ever since.

  • Daliesque.

  • ok so i dnt remember squeeze first time round coz they wer my dads era but they are fantastic! i have the dvd and 3 cds of them i think im prob theyre youngest fan hehe

  • Well they wernt round my era either and my dad listened to erm all the time, so i do now stranglers, squeeze the lot. Their better than most music now...

  • I love Squeeze! They were inventive and wrote great songs...I'm so happy they're still going~

  • Thanks for the upload, but where's the entire video?

  • This was the first video I ever saw on MTV.

  • i love this song! its too damn cathcy lol does anyone have a mp3 of it??

  • Did you all know that Squeeze is going to tour North America in the Summer of 2007?

  • this was one of my favourite videos of all times... thank you so much!!!!

  • ...directed by Ade Edmondson - Vivian from the Young Ones; Eddie Hitler from 'Bottom'.

  • Really????? Thanks for that piece of trivia. I loved the Young Ones! And Vivian!

  • This is awesome! I just heard it on America's funniest home videos. I wish this song was out now. I'm 14, therefore unaware of songs like these. Any other great ones I should know about?

  • split enz albums- time and tide, true colors dizrythmia to start

  • Oh, thank you!

  • You don't understand, I've had this song in my head for years and no one knew what the eff i was talking about. And now I've found it. Thanks for the upload!

  • fave band of all time

  • this is hot, i love squeeze, i've never heard this one, no one ever makes the connection similarity to split enz/crowded house in their bounciness, pop smarts

  • I always put them together in my mind too and love them all!

  • Thanks for posting that, I haven't seen it since 1987.

  • peeps only know this band from their song tempted this was a huge hit in it's day

  • yes death2.. ur post is to the point and informative, not these girlie oh it's so gooood, i'm wet.

  • What a great video. Too bad you only get half of it.

  • An absolute 80's classic!! This video is an EXCELLENT example of the great visual creativeness first introduced by the likes of the Art Of Noise during the mid to late 80's.

  • Great band from Deptford South London
