I think it's funny that so many people think just because a song has the same title as another, it has to be a cover. I mean, how many songs are called "Believe", or other generic things like that?

That being said, she actually doesn't do a TON of the writing. The instrumentation is not done by her, and often the vocals and lyrics are co-written by others. For example, Kara DioGuardi co-wrote "The Middle". Great singer, but often given credit for things she didn't do.
