Hello Mr. Hayes. I'm a 16 yr. old high school drop out. I'm Marjorly interested in the world, it's the past & future. I highly adore the footage in your video. For I believe, this time, will one day return. It's only the hidden secrets in the world I want to know about. Not the useless information school crams into our head along with a small percentage of those secrets.
The people of the Great Depression would laugh at the people today preaching doom and gloom.People still go to walmart, still drive their cars everywhere, and still eat till their fat. I have talked to people who lived through that time, and a lot of them had to go out and kill their own food-armadillo,possum,and whatever birds they could catch. Compare now to then? PUULEEASE
Ummm. The Depression has not started yet. They still won't concede that a recession is imminent. The actions of the Fed have assured that we will have a Depression, but it won't be felt until late 2010. That's how long it took in 1929 but it could be faster this time who knows. Uncharted territory. Anyone that has examined history carefully knows that the actions taken by the Gov were the reason for the depression. What Depression was Bernanke studying. His assessment is way wrong.
It is now a recession. jjrglobal is right, this is the october of '29, so wait a few months until mid-09. Next president we hope, will learn from history and not repeat what happened.
Yeah, history repeats its self and history has shown that Capitalism does not work. I hope, if things go from worse to worse, we wake up and over-turn Capitalsm and gain control over the state and the means of production. Marxism has not worked before because it has all been forced and leaders don't like to let go of power. This is a great oppertunity to transition into something beautiful. By the way, the song is by NIN. Look at the info in the upper right hand corner.
Capitalism has NOT been Americas economic model since 1913,when the Federal Reserve Act was passed. Gov intervention, no matter the intent, distorts markets and creates malinvestment. What you suggest brings equality because it brings the standard of living down to the lowest level in the country. Markets work, Government doesn't
markets wont work because humans aren't perfect. greed is built in. as long as whatever it is is controlled by people (be it a market or corp, it will always be distorted. you could say its natural for us to screw it up. no ones perfect.
at 3:04 in this video there is a picture of 5 kids sitting on a car. Do you know the name of this picture? My best friend had a picture of this in his room in college!!! Thanks!
The Illuminati caused the first great depression and now they are fixing to intentionally make 1929 look like a picnic. The Illuminati will then force everyone to get the R.F.I.D. Chip implanted into them so they can track them with gps device and monetary bank accounts will be in the chip date. None might buy or sell unless they have the R.F.I.D. Chip implanted into their right hand or forehead. Then they will set up the New World Order. Read Svali off of Google and watch on youtube.
Also, don't forget that the moon landing was a hoax. It was really the gunman on the grassy knoll who was in the moon suit, didn't get listed on the video credits....
brilliant point you made when blacks at that time were already in the depression years before it was known as the great depression. very moving video. great work.
Well folks, this thing has been up a year tomorrow, and your reactions have made it great-- almost 32,000 hits in one year. Crazy! Thanks for your support. I always mean to do others. My spring break is coming up, perhaps I will.
First off, kudos on the score. It's excellent. Second, great job on the reminder that African Americans were second class citizens at the time of the Great Depression. With the latest "report card" that 'Murika sends young, African American males to prison in the ratio of one of every nine, how much have we progressed as a society, in terms of race, since those days almost a hundred years ago?
here's what really concerns me, people where a whole tougher back then ,to a certain degree our modern society has made us soft, and brainwashed to always look to big brother in times of need, big mistake, govt at best messed things up,at worst totally destroys things
Thank you Mr. Hayes! Our student tacher showed this video today. I was almost to the point of crying. It was a good video by the way. I almost coulden't find it!
The quote is from African American Clifford Burke, "The Negro was born in depression. It didn't mean too much to him, The Great Depression, as you call it. There was no such thing. The best he could be is a janitor or a porter or shoeshine boy. It only became official when it hit the white man."
The quote you use in the middle of the video about the negro population...where did you find that? I want to show this video to my class and if they ask, I want to tell them where you found it. Thanks!
lol we watched this at school! no joke whatsoever! our teacher had a projector, and hooked it up to the computer. she found this video, and presented it to the class! it was good. she didnt say anything bad dude. :) lol hey, it was actually good to watch! better than the textbooks. lol :D
uh, the NIN one is from the new album I think, and it's like a bonus track or something; that's the second song. the first one...Jonathan Elias, I think, but I can't remember the track name. Hope this helps.
I read that Rosevelt sold all the gold at FT Knocks to England to get us out of the depression, and since then we don't have gold to back our money, so its becomming more and more worthless. Rosevelet also created Welfare for the depression, which we don't need anymore. 2008 is suppose to be the next great depression cause we'll be paying $6-$9 a gallon like the rest of the world.
Confluence of forces are gathering and we face a financial storm, probably worst than 1929-1941. Those who were kids during that last depression are passing away; their progenies have never faced a depression and don't have a clue; yet the signs of the coming financial disaster is all around today.
Where do you have this information from? I'm doing a project about The Great Depression and it would really help if you could post some sources... Thanx.
Can I use segments of this for a short film that Im working on? I would be more then happy, to give you a mention in the credits, or leave your name at the end, which ever you would prefer.

Oh gosh I love the music, where is it from?
XxMaddiexKennyxX 3 years ago
that was something....I mean an economic/social depression in the cities and the storms and droughts in the country happening simultaneously..WOW.
weirder still??? My folks told me that this wasnt a US phenomenon exclusively. That drought and poverty was rampant world wide during that era.
the wealthiest of people went hungry in many places. It changed a lot of cities and nations.
Still...I wonder was this global depression man made or an event w/o prevention.

The saddest thing about the depression is that the rich did cause it by being greedy. However, it was the poor that suffered.

The first great depression occurred around 1840 and lasted 20 years. The result was the Civil War.
These events occur like clockwork every 70 years or so.
