  • Damn straight.

  • *gigglesnort* hate to say this, but to me he sounds incredibly gay in this clip. Although he is fucking sexy

  • ALAN RICKMAN YOU ARE INCREDIBLY SEXY AND I LOVE YOU!!!

  • Is that snape with a beard?

  • In other words, the villain.

  • so bruce willis is in the new g.i joe...I hope alan rickman palys cobra commander ;)

  • He is so yummy

  • of course hes not a villain.

    mcclane: after all this time?

  • I agree with cridantes. That's his approach to playing the character, people. Many actors will tell you this, if asked. AR doesn't play cardboard cut out villains. He prefers that they have some depth. To do this, the actor must portray the character as if he believes he is right, as if he (the character) believes he is not a villain. He simply wants the money, at any cost.

  • Good lord, he's speaking in terms of acting, of portraying a villain on screen. He's not talking about immoral, unethical, arguably evil people in history.

Die Hard makes it very easy to, if not sympathize for Hans and his gang, at least root for them in some ways. Overall it is a very anti-authoritarian film, largely portraying the police and Feds as incompetent and mindlessly brutish, respectively. Hans may not be a good guy, but he's smart, and charming.

  • I think a lot of you are missing the point of what Rcikman's saying.

  • I don't agree with him. Hans wanted to blow up 30 people so he could get away with $640 million. That's pretty villainious.

  • That was probably Osama Bin Laden's philosophy

  • Hitler too wanted some things in life and made some choices. Heum.

  • Had to replay this four times; oh, that voice!

  • At the very least, Hans Gruber is one of the most charismatic bad guys Hollywood has ever come up with. Even though he is the bad guy in the movie, you can't help but be charmed by him.

  • @theundertakerko93 I'd....have to agree with that XD

  • this mixed with what sessions said about him in Qi makes me feel sad for him - he's as misunderstood as snape!

  • Mr Cargie will not be joining us for the rest of his life.

  • I read the 2nd top comment first, "oh! watching him in glorious bastards was just one permanent drool." I was like wtf?! Hans Gruber was in inglorious bastards?! Then I read the top comment.... =( haha

  • Ok,Alan, have another hit of acid, lol. If Hans Gruber isn't a villian then Osama Bin Laden was a 75 year old librarian with a wicked penchant for lavender panty drawer fresheners. ok,kidding. That IS was he is playing as an actor. PS. I wanna lick his face too.

  • @Dustwitch

Hans Gruber was misunderstood. Just a bank robber

  • @Trashcansam123 - LOL.. along with all of the underpinnings of a psychpath killer. :P

  • @Dustwitch I want to lick him too but that being said I hope hope hope for Alan's sake that he never never plays a Nazi. The world would condemn him if he tried to say 'Nazi's aren't bad people they just have a checklist of things they want to achieve' Alan seems to enjoy being contradictory. He's played some of the worst villians in movie history. They are bad people. Period

  • @GrissomLovesSara I don't think you get what he is saying. He doesn't care if you (the audience) want to judge a character's morality. He's saying that he doesn't judge them. That's his approach as an actor. It would be very difficult to portray a three dimensional character if you view them as a two dimensional villain.

  • @MsAppassionata You make a fair point. He's not telling us how to judge his characters only how he goes about playing them (brilliantly) but he does seem comfortable playing 'devil's advocate ' as they say when a person seems compelled to suggest the last thing someone else expects or really even wants to hear. Then again, he's not responsible, nor should he change his own opinions, in deference to popular opinion or sentiment. Forcing people to think outside the box often incites criticism

  • Ok,Alan, have another hit of acid, lol. If Hans Gruber isn't a villian then Osama Bin Laden was a 75 year old librarian with a wicked penchant for lavender panty drawer fresheners. PS. I wanna lick his face too.

  • Ok,Alan, have another hit of acid, lol. If Hans Gruber isn't a villian then Osama Bin Laden was a 75 year old librarian with a wicked penchant for lavender panty drawer fresheners.

  • @Dustwitch Exactly, you nailed it, man.

  • God I just want to lick his face.

  • @RobzFanpire Couldn't have said it any better.

  • im not playing a woman. im just playing someone with a vagina, breasts, and XX chromosome.

  • He plays very interesting people.

  • Just like any capitalist

  • "I'm afraid that Mr. Takagi will not be joining us for the rest fo his life." Epic line! XD

  • Do you REALLY think you have a chance against US mr cowboy?

  • Where did you find this clip?

  • I'm not playing...... TEH villian.

  • Unfortunately John McClane doesn't agree with the choices he's made, lol.

  • A good villain always THINKS they are the good guy, as an actor I think he's taking the right approach.

  • hes definitely a bad guy, he murdered the japanese dude.

  • Just love how he says; "Now I have a machine gun HO-HO-HO.!!" Amazing. LOL

  • i've just realised that this guy is severus snape xD

  • @mariusicutzu im afraid you have a bad case of herpes derpes.

  • hey alan dont forget to move the porkchops from the freezer to the refrigerator so they defrost properly.

  • like if you put long greasy black hair on him while watching this .

i did, i cant picture him not in harry potter

  • 10 Points to Alan for knowing what it means to be a true Slytherin!

  • Shut the fuck up, you're playing at villian. You're good at playing bad guys and don't you deny it!

  • @Myathewolfeh1 don't be rude, he looks more deeply into his characters other than "good guy" "bad guy" and gives them more thought than that ... which is WHY he is such a great actor!

  • @JDavis4U I wasn't being rude. In fact, I absolutely adore Alan Rickman's acting. I just think there's no point in explaining his character if he explains it himself when he plays his characters. It's because he's so good at becoming the character that makes me wonder why he even gives the time for an interview when all that is needed to be said is right there is his superb acting.

  • @Myathewolfeh1 He doesn't see everything in black and white, unlike *some* people

  • Baahahahah they asked the ONE question he always gets annoyed with! :D

  • Thats like saying osama bin laden wasnt a villain because he chose to spread the word of allah by blowing shit up.

  • @and551 yeh but what about the people on his side, they would think the americans are villains!

  • He is not a villain, he's exceptional villain!

  • That's right. Terrorists are not bad people. They just go after their dreams. :)

  • @CheapCrawler who said we were terrorists!?

  • So if somebody burgles his house he isn't allowed to be angry about it. The burglar is just an individual who wants certain things and is going after them.

  • hes not a villain he just has an english accent, all english people are "bad guys" when there are all american heroes near by to defeat us but the rest of the time we just drink tea.

  • @qqqqqqqqqqwwwwweeeee americans are really english anyway so none of this matters

  • he's in final fantasy versus xiii

  • @gathimest lol?

  • "Not a villain, just somebody who wants certain things in life, has made certain choices and goes after them"

Could say the same thing about Hitler...

  • mmm! ALAN RICKMAN IS SO FINE!

  • thats basically the same attitude christoph waltz has about his "villain" roles :)

  • @vanzonhl oh! watching him in glorious bastards was just one permanent drool)))))

  • @NastyaytsaN Huh? Who WAS he in Inglorious Bastards? I love his acting and I've even watched that film and didn't recognize him in it.

  • @NastyaytsaN germans, they're great villains at all times

  • @vanzonhl lol yes Christoph did not approach the jew hunter as a bad guy, but more as a patriot of his own country.

  • Hahahahahaha: watch?v=wZ2LMDT6xrU&feature=related

  • He's an anti-hero

  • He's not a villain or a good guy, more like an anti-hero

  • oh god..his Voice *_*

  • god it's weird seeing him WITHOUT the snape wig and costume

  • I'm not playing the villain. I'm just playing a guy who kills people to have certain things.

  • I think executing whats-his-face when he said "You're going to have to shoot me" was rather rude, to be honest.

  • @theundertakerko93 John Sessions, FTW.

  • so if i rob a bank, that would not make me a villain great

  • From a Terrorist to a Wizzard!

  • cant believe this guy is snape

  • He does an amazing German accent in Die Hard!

  • He sounds ever so slightly like Julian Clary.

  • @opiate115 Oh God, that's exactly what I thought. Kind of ruined the sexyness.

  • Alan Rickman (Hans Gruber) is a genious.

  • That is so hot....really. :D

  • In which case Alan Rickman, Hans Gruber is still the coolest 'not-a-villain' ever.

  • That's why he was great in that movie, because he thinks just like his character.

  • @Volkodav21 Very well said! :D

  • "I don't play villains,"

    "I play very interesting people."

  • I was a little surprised when I discovered in was in around 40 when he took this role.

  • i love how young he looks

  • hahah he said they exact same thing about his role as the sheriff of nottingham

  • I love Alan but he's always denying the fact he's playing villains xD He calls them interesting persons whaha I think that's pretty cute.

  • how old is he now like 64 65????

  • Alan Rickman was 42 years old when played in Die Hard back in 1988

  • He's so cool I love him :]

  • He is a good actor, also he plays as Snape in Harry Potter. But I don't really like HP, I <3 Die Hard

  • this guy is a good actor

  • Yeah, and those certain choices involve murder :)

  • one of the reasons they picked rickman was that they needed a european guy who despite how thick his accent is can imitate an american perfectly so he can talk he can have a dialouge scene with bruce willis without using CB radios nor nearly getting his head blown off.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker They discovered Alan could do a really good American accent after he was given the part. I can't remember how they found out, but that's what gave them the idea (or, actually, if I remember rightly it was Alan's idea) for the scene with Alan and Bruce Willis.

  • His point I think is that bad people, villains, rarely think of themselves as bad. They believe they are going after what they want, what they deserve. And as an actor, he must approach being the character that way as well, otherwise the villain won't be believable.

  • And as far as I am concerned I want to meet Alan Rickman whatever it takes, I've made my mind... He is the first celebrity that makes me feel so. I really respect him and adore his acting skills. Wish I had been born much earlier... I have known him only for one year :SSS

  • @nxebn Go to see one of Alan Rickman's plays or to one of his movie premiers if it's in or near your home town. He often comes out to meet with his fans and sign autographs.

  • @MsMesmer1 Well I wish... but I might just die! (but die happy! :) )

  • @MsMesmer1 Actually we are not even on the same continent, But I will be in Europe via Erasmus, I would definitely try my best to see him, if I could get a visa to England, I guess you can't just get in UK with Schengen, right? Thanks btw... it's good to know he is easily accessible :))

  • I've always had a thing for older men. :)

  • God Damn That Voice Is HOT!! ^_^ *sigh* x

  • Comment removed

  • He said the same thing about being the Sheriff of Nottingham

  • Exactly! :) He also said this in an interview recently, why he's always playing the bad guys... lol!

  • where can I watch the whole interview?

  • vvv... there is no whole interview. is a part of video with cast

  • @dipposter I have outtakes if ur intrested

  • in truth, Alan doesnt really like to play villains but he is great at it. he likes to play the knight in the shining armour sometimes. from what i heard in an interview.

  • Actually, I agree with Rickman because I think killing Harry Ellis the coke headed douche bag makes up for all the bad thing he did XD

  • @EchoBoomer1987 Even though Ellis wasn't the best guy to be around in real life due to his attitude, he was damned funny in the movie though. I loved him and his actor was funny too. I wanted him to become a recurring character... TT.TT We lacked comedy in Die Hards 2 and 3 until Warlock came in Die Hard 4 as the comedy.

Hans Gruber is my second favorite villain of all times. PM me for my first. But first take a guess... First name begins with R, last name is Black. ^^ Fancy a guess?

  • A perfect description of anyone, villain or hero, if indeed there are such strange and wonderful things as good and evil.

  • i love him.

but i'd like to point out that if you were to watch the robin hood interview of him, you'll hear that he says the same thing. :)

  • yippy ki yeah... Harry Potter

  • hes fukin georgous

im like 15 and i have a crush on him, and hes bloddy 60

  • Same, but make that 63 - and he's still gorgeous at that age.

  • are you nuts alan you are playing a murderer! that is what hans gruber is

  • Alan, you're playing the villain. ;) Still gotta love him.

  • o so kidnapping, holding a building hostage, murdering, and ruining christmas in not a villan type thing

  • Oh god, how can he be the villain? With his beard and moustache, he looks dead sexy. He is the good guy. :)

  • @gondegoogoo everyone knows beard and moustache = evil !

  • Amen, sir!

    Holy shit...he's awesome.

  • My goodness. No wonder he gave up playing villains for awhile. It's almost exactly word for word what he says while dressed as the Sheriff of Nottingham when interviewed briefly for the Bonus DVD that comes with the extended version of RHPOT! Oh well, who cares, still love him! The Sheriff and Hans - hands down my favourite of ALL of his character portrayals! TY so much for posting! :_)

  • Cool. But I think he means his acting approach, ie taking the character's "perspective", not real-world morality. Just saying.

  • oh, i luv that!

weather or not he's a villian i adore him

  • Ach, he's amazing. End of.

  • I love his outlook on everything. *sigh* He is amazing....
