  • @medina18233 in NASA your head can come off the bench at the bottom as long as it comes right back on on the press up which is what did.

The record is now increased to 535 which I did at my last meet for an American record which didnt count for world record since it was at a national meet. I am doing near 550 now so I am getting it up higher and higher. all my lifts are also 100 percent natural and RAW..

  • dude u had no problem pushing that rep out like not even a struggle what soever you should get some buddies to spot you and push out a one rep max or go for like a 3press you could def one rep mex 315 with some spotting help

  • Ya, the lift felt pretty solid and easy. I was just being more cautious atthis meet because I was just getting over a chest injury and hadn't been able to train heavy for a few weeks before the meet. But I really want to hit 300 paused at my next meet if all goes well.

  • that was the best lift on benchpress i had ever seen, hands down, the form was excellent

    ive seen guys do over 400lbs on bench press and the form was shaky but yours was phenominal

  • Ya, I agree benc is not a strength for me compared to some of my other lifts. This meet I was just coming of a chest injury so that didn't help either. But I am a puller by nature not a pusher.

  • Well now that I am not dealing with an injury I can do about that. But it is touch and go with not so good form. I am hoping to get a 300 paused bench at my next meet.

I have a couple of questions for you. Im 16, 6ft2 185lbs, and been lifting since about February. I can put up decent numbers and I was wondering if you knew what weight class I would fall into and the records for bench, squat, and curl are in that class. and btw yer rite, cheat curls r good for building strength

  • Thanks man! Yoir current bodyweight would fall into the 198 pound class. Here are the American records for the powersports mens open division:

    Curl- 203 lbs

    Bench Press- 435 lbs RAW

    Deadlift- 617 lbs

    As far as squats, that would go in the powerlifting division:

    squat RAW- 573

  • Good job, keep it up. Just work on not lifting your head of the bench. Many competitons will disqualify the lift for that.

  • Thanks! Ya, this federation allows me to do that. But only as long as my head goes straight back down afterthe lift has begun.

  • Ya, I had some irritation on the right lower side of my chest near my sternum. That sounds familiar what your talking about. How bad is the pain?

  • Great lift man! I feel that could pause 285 if you arched your back a little and put some leg into it, but that was great form. 4/5!

  • Thanks! bench isn't one of my better lifts. And on top of that I was dealing with a chest injury at that meet. But In the gym now I can get around 300 paused. But my deadlift was pretty good check those out!

  • Pausing 300 is tough, I've actually never done it, but I never train my pause eiether really.  I pause for reps for an accessory exercise during a 6 week cycle. So I haven't maxed pauses in a VERY long time.

  • Ya it is tough. I really hope to be deadlifting close to 550 at my next meet as that has been going up really well too! Did you check out the deadlift and curls from this meet as well?

    i weight 115 i can benchpress 155 im 14 years old and im not lying about that either so im pretty sure ill be able to outbench you even in ur wieght division when im your age

  • I weighed in at 163 at that meet. And that is a pretty good bench for your age and size. But also remeber, that I had suffered a chest injury just a few weeks before this meet and I couldn't train heavy for over 2 weeks. I weigh around the same now and can bench around 300 with a pause. Also, this was a pretty easy lift for me no doubt I would have had more in me. I went up to 265 after this but missed it cuz of a dip in the bar. And is your 155 bench paused?

    i always bench doing down slowly and push it up sorta fast just like u in the video, and i do not lift 1 arm before the other

  • Like when I paused the bar on my chest for about a second until it was completely still before I pressed it back up. But anyway, this vodeo is no were near what I can bench now in the gym so I wouldn't bank your comparisons on it! Because like I said, my injury really hampered my training!

  • 1. I have millitary pressed 120's for like 2 reps then 2 more forced from a spotter.(weren't qiote full reps).

    2. Are you reffering to the hihgschool or mens open division? and in NASA?

  • no not high school - im nearly 19 years old bit older than you but i weight about 10KG LESS than you - so is there a division for my kind of bodyweight ppl?

    not sure for what kind of compettiotn but not highschool one like in general for my kind of bodyweight which stands on 138 lbs atm (63KG).

    I'd like to know where i stand next to other people cuz i can do millipress with 90s each hand with decent form! (but no braging really i want more then i'd brag about it)

  • Ok, at your body weight you would fall into the men's 148 class. These are the world records for the mens open powersports division:

    Curl- 154(highest curl in class is 162 in the masters class)

    Bench- 319 pounds

    deadlift- 523 pounds

    In the powerlifting division this is the squat record

    squat- 418 pounds

  • thanks alot !!- just one thing about the squat - i've seen some sort of midget-man with 56KG bodyweight doing world record of 240KG! or so - but he wasnt a kid think he was over 30 yrs old - as for the deadlift way to far for me to reach i think =P

  • Well you have to remember that NASA is 100 perfecent NATURAL and drug tested. This is not the case in many federations.

  • weird that your other lifts are almost as good as mine but my bench is considerably higher than yours. im weigh 315 lbs btw. my squat is over 600, deadlift is around 550, hang clean 315, bench is 405.

  • Ya, I had a pretty decent chest injury about 4 weeks out of this meet so it really hampered my bench alot as you can see. I normaly can hit close to 300 with a pause now. But ya, My deadlift is around 540 now and my hang clean is around 315 like yours. Pressing strength is just something that comes harder for me.

  • Ya, it was a bit easy. This weight was actually my opener but like I said in the description, I missed it the first time because I missed the press command so I had to come back here and get it on my second.

  • nice work nate, my first powerlifting meet I opened with 215 but missed that due to racking the weight before the rack command, I actually posted my first competition today, the only lift I completed was my second attempt of 235 pounds, missed my third being 255, and weeks prior to it I hit 2609 paused for a single.

    Those stupid rack commands can be hard to focus on when your lifting the weight, and the pause command is annoying to lol.

  • What kind of fed lets you lift your head off the bench. Its not allowed anywhere...

  • Uh actually look at videos of ryan kennely and scot mendelson and you will see them lift their heads of the bench.

  • Didn't you bloody reed the description!!!????? I suffered a chest injury 3 weeks before this meet and couldn't lift heavy for over 2 weeks!!!! And I opened with the same weight but missed the press command so I had to come back and do it again. This lift was easy, then I went up to 265 but the was a dip in the bar on the way up so it didn't count either. And on top of that this is a PAUSED bench NOT a touch and go!!! Why don't you read before you say things!!??

  • Just wondering, how come you compete bench/dead/curl and not bench/dead/squat? You are strong, 3X BW deadlift is awesome, would like to see you squat too.

  • I compete in curl, bench, dead because I am best at curls so I figure I might as well do the powersports division. And Im also good at deadlifts so thats two lifts in that division Im really good at. Squat and bench are two of my weaker lifts so thats why I didn't enter the powerlifting division.

  • WTH are you talking about. Ya, the bench wasn't a world record but the others were! look on the website for yourself in the 165 highscool division.

  • only for your specific federation eh. None of your lifts are ANYWHERE near world records man. World record of a high school federation. You are strong man, but it's not incredible.

  • I never claimed that this bench press was a world record. But my curl and deadlift was. They were records for my BODYWEIGHT in highschool and 100 PERCENT raw. So obviously other divisions that have gear and such the lifts will be higher. And also keep in mind that my federation is also 100 PERCENT natural. Not even caffeine is allowed!!
