Wish I was still in it. Got laid off after 35 years. They laid us all off after opening a new pressroom up and fetched in some FNG,s. Told us we had to apply for our own jobs but there was no point as we had no experience on the new press they installed and you had to have it to apply for your job. It was a KBA Commander, the only one in the country. We got treated like shit. That's how it is in the UK just now. Great vid.

Loved this video. Funny how many parts of this rant hit home! Our family has been printing maps since 1921 (Williams & Heintz) We've had 4 generations of printers in the family. Many of our other employees are 2nd generation printers. I'm not sure that they're quite as enthusiastic as this guy here, though...

I love the video. I work in digital printing for the last 10 years. Computers run our printers, all data stream electronic printing. There will always be a need for printing.

An honest mistake was made when "Printing's Alive" did not give proper credit to "Regrets: Boxes". We saw the "Regrets" video and thought it was hysterical. Printing's Alive is a respectful take-off of that video.

That is too funny. I've been in printing since I was 16 as a stripper and now as a prepress troll. My father was a stripper. My fathers' Uncle was a printer. Let's just say ink runs in my veins. Thanks for making me laugh. Otherwise I might go sane and realize where I'm at.

But where were the presses? They are the heart and soul of any printing company, where blood, sweat and tears meet ink and paper. Where the artist meets the ink monkey and beauty is created on the printed sheet.
I know of what I speak. I am the pressroom guru. I bring peace and love to the pressroom.

Coming from a family of printers (my dad, brother, me), I have ate,drank and sh!t printing my entire life. I have shared this video with a few others I know in the industry.
The actor is not over the top at all, one of my old formans acted just like him. I especialy love the comment about when going to party's, this is so true.

Now you know what`s pulsing through our vains, pure 485( with a bit of reducer), its not a job, it`s art, and when you open your magazines and throw all the JUNK in the bin just think how that hurts, sweat blood and tears whent into that job.Oh and the moneys good.

I am quit my printing job ( well still working part time now ) to go back to art school full time.
I miss the touch smell and overall feel that comes with working in printing.

no colleges for printing ...thats rite. Printing isn't taught at some smug college it is taught threw a trade that runs threw your veins. Sure aspects of printing are taught at colleges by people who nothing about the trade.

I love the video. I work in digital printing for the last 10 years. Computers run our printers, all data stream electronic printing. There will always be a need for printing.

I hate to say this but NEWSPAPER PRINTING IS DEAD! Evidence? -- Craigslist, Monster Careerbuilder etc. Who buys ads in newspapers anymore? Who reades the filth in the New York Times, when you can watch TMZ for free?

Having first enjoyed the interesting smell of a blueline at the young age of 13 (yearbook staff), I know what you mean about the DNA. My blood runs 100m 100y 30k too! And I'm sending this to everyone I know from my alma mater WV Tech.

Big Deal. I've been printing for over 30 years. There is no glamor in it. Just bullsh*t customers that seem to be getting dumber every day. I've run 40" presses, 28" presses, letter presses, linotypes. Whoopty ding don day.

Haha, I just saw this at a conference I was at, 'PrintFair 2008'. My boss knows the guy and got a high resolution copy of this for it. I think it's the funniest thing I've ever seen relating to the print industry (not that there is much competition).

hilarious. i'm a graphic designer (4 yrs) and my father is a printer (20 yrs). can't wait to show this to my pops! ... and the comment someone had about naming his daughter paige? awesome! i wonder how many design/printing terms could realistically be used as children's names? the only one i can think off the top of my head is TIFF, short for tiffany. hhaha! LOVE THE VIDEO!

An honest mistake was made when "Printing's Alive" did not give proper credit to "Regrets: Boxes". We saw the "Regrets" video and thought it was hysterical. Printing's Alive is a respectful take-off of that video.
At 6:00 pm today we had a call with Jim Coudal, of Coudal Partners and Filmmaker Steve Delahoyde - we fully resolved the misunderstanding. Pazazz has given full credit where it was due. Our only intention with this video was to show our passion for print and to make people laugh.
