What a wonderful song. One of my favorites. It brings me back to the times I spent at the Birchmere in the company of musical genius and John's voice. Only he gets this song right.
I might have been attendence! The Birchmere used to have live bluegrass five nights a week...The Seldom Scene every Thursday. Drank many a pitchers of beer in the great establishment.
One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands. Poor video signal be damned.....THANK YOU for preserving this wonderful musical performance. R.I.P. John Duffy. You are certainly missed.
drdeutsch, thank you, thank you, thank you. I posted the link to pt 1 on the Scene's fan page on Facebook. I miss Duffey, and I've missed all of them so much since I've lived in Texas. What an extraordinary band, and a bunch of us just grew up with them being "the" local band -- talk about skewing your standards! I have really high standards!
No video signal is too bad to enjoy their music! And again, as a video collector myself, I came across worse quality videos. If you have others, I'd love to see them!
Well, I do have the "Last Concert" of the Johnson Mountain Boys at Lucketts Virginia sometime in the 90's. Interestingly, the same kid who sat with me in the remote truck and told me who was going to solo next (and was right most of the time) helped me at the Lucketts shoot. Otherwise, that's it for bluegrass.
Duffey!

Check out Peter Cooper and Eric Brace's version for their new album. A fine tribute to this great song !!

Again I am thankful that you could see through a pretty bad video signal to appreciate the essence of the Seldom Scene.
