Yeah, what a great idea! Allow any software to run on the iPhone so that there are viruses and things don't run well. Apple has the "hand-in-glove" theory- they make the hand (hardware) and the glove (software) so that the glove fits the hand perfectly (versus the Windows world which makes a one-size-fits-all glove). The iPhone is just the same, which is why it runs well. I would rather lose some apps that Apple disapproves of than open up the floodgates for viruses and malware.
Maybe Apple is looking out for malicious apps...I have a Droid Global and like it, but the Apple i phones are better...The Droid key board not worth the extra weight, and the Apple os is smoother from app 2 app...Apple is the number one brand in value,on the planet...Its hard to argue with success....
lol why would apple want to help their rivals android commercialize their brand...its not like apple asks android or microsoft to help them advertise....so thats just business.
That's just why it runs so well, Apple keeps all these Toms, Dicks and Harry's from messing up their system! They have rejected Apps that were sending your information to third parties from your phone. That's another reason I don't even have virus protection on my Mac. They keep Goofball's and other tinkler's from messing up things!!!
It's true! When you submit an App for the iphone or any other Apple product, they actually go thru it and check it out! You'll be surprised to see what those apps can do behind your back!
PS, I don't like hackers! If I even catch one like the one who tried to highjack my ebay account, they won't need a judge for him, just me!
This is true but you lose many of the safeguards when you go outside of Apple. What's to say what your 3rd party App is doing? Is it sending your personal info to other parties? Are they being level with you? One more thing! Who regulates these third party stores? The very hackers who hacked the iPhone!
They also charge you for services and have an app store apart from Apple. You could sue them, like you could Apple, since they are also a legitimate business.
That's why Apple / Macintosh computers have ALWAYS sucked. That's why the whole concept of Apple marketing themselves to "rebels" or "people who think outside the box" is absolutely absurd and really only appeals to people who fantasize themselves as rebels or out of the box thinkers.
Apple has always been that way. Closed architecture. Authoritarian. That's why I have never and will never buy an Apple product EVER.
oke my windows crashed alot acer laptops are build to do it like 2 to 3 yearsi have a apple from 1998 who works fine! the hardware is getting old but i think a windows pc doesn't even start after 10 years! thats is why apple is the futere
this is so true, I always say this... specially when people want to change from Microsoft "monopoly" to another worse "monopoly" like Apple. It make no sense!
Thats why Open Source, GNU/Linux its the future for me.
Another device are the portable games machines like PSP, and Nintendo DS. If you hack those you get so many more features! its incredible, but companies prefere the monopoly.
propaganda......

Apple: we will supply you with everything you want, if we decide you want it...
PC: It's up to you...

Brand loyalty. Some people will buy a Versace for 10 x the cost because image and branding. People buy iphones for the same reason. Sad and stupid.

The reason why it's done, is to protect the consumers. Apple makes sure that the software you have on your phone is not stealing your personal data.
If you don't like, don't use it.
I think Apple did a good job with AppStore and i prefer to use approved apps, versus the apps that are available in Cydia.

You don't have to submit an app to apple to use it on an Iphone. Most people jailbreak the phones and use 3rd party software anyway lol?
