I bought this same capture card to try and record from my tv. NCS's description is all well and good for consoles like the Wii, which has the R/Y/W cables. But I'm looking to record from my older consoles, like the NES and SNES, which connect to the TV using the cable cords. Several hours of youtube and google searching has turned up diddly. Surely there's a way to make this happen. And no, I do not want to record from an emulator. I know how to do that.

Ok so i have a problem. When i record with VisualBoyAdvance, the game audio is off synch from the game. My commentary matches up fine but the game audio does not. How do i fix this?
I used to use Movie Maker for editing my videos, but I tried out VideoPad, which is made by the same company as RecordPad, and it just works so much better. When I would edit Super Mario 64 videos on my co-op channel, they would end up desynced for some reason, and I would go into VideoPad to fix it. Also, at 9:46, did you ever find a usage for that clip?
… "Program Files" is directly in the C drive; how is that hard to find? It even shows the folder progression in the dropdown where you pointed the folder out!
In Movie Maker choose the option "High Quality (large)", it makes 480p quality videos, looks great, and is a small file size, trust me, I use it for all my videos.
i actually changed the destination folder of the one video capture to my computers video folder. which allows me to locate my recorded videos, just to let you know.
what version of windows movie maker is that because the one i use is pretty crappy (it came default with my windows 7 i think) ive been using videopad for editing but its trial is almost up and i would like to find that version of movie maker. can someone help me to get a version of movie maker that doesn't totally suck?

When ever i record my commentary is so far ahead of my Game video like 10 seconds ahead and i cant move my video farther ahead of the commentary im using Windows movie maker Xp to edit my video and im using the recorder on the VBA and audacity to record can anyone tell me how to fix this
@TheNerdOmega Well, I'll answer it for you. Type in virtualdub in google. Then, go to the first link. then click downloads on the on the left on the webpage you just got two. Then, click VirtualDub at SourceForge. Then download the progam. Then open it. Then, delete everything but youtube.com in where you type in the website, then type in /watch?v=d7GzBa9Ez38 next to youtube.com then press enter. watch the video, and follow my lead in the video.
@jkearsey1233 Umm... Just cause you don't have vista doesn't mean you don't have it. I have an XP and I have it... Its in Start-> All progams->Accessories and it should be there. On mine it's the second to last one.
how come you dont have any grey bars on your videos from rendering movie maker? i always get grey bars on my kirby vids when i render then. i record the kirby vids in vba like you do

@ChocolateCatFat100 You'll want to purchase a standard definition recorder such as a Dazzle to record games such as Ocarina of Time. You can get one at an electronics store such as Fry's Electronics, but your best bet is likely Amazon. A standard def recorder will record every system except for the Xbox 360 and PS3, because they are HD consoles. Therefore, you can record your N64, Wii, etc., with a Dazzle.
to get to program files click on start and then go into "computer".
now go into your hardrive. i don't know what your's would be could, but mine is preload (c:). go into that and there should be a file in their called program files.
now open tthat and scroll down until you find a folder called " one touch video capture". go into that and you will see your recordings.
I have a question i dont do commentary for my videos yet and in my videos you hear the audio from the games. But when upload it the video is ahead of the audio. So should i do the same thing you did with your demostration split it and remove part of it or is there nothing i can do?

Whenever I record with the VC500, there is a green bar at the bottom of the recording. How do I get rid of that? I tried importing it to Pinnacle 14 and using the crop tool, but whenever I try to import it, nothing happens.

also, when i record the video as AVI (any other format doesn't work or has really bad quality), the file is freaking huge-- way too big for youtube. will re-rendering it through WMM make it smaller?
@Spades2233 I've heard from various people that Audacity is great. I've tried it myself, and for some reason when I make big recordings, for some reason every so often I'll get this weird garbled sound where my voice should be.
However, I'm pretty sure that's just a problem with my computer and not the program (since I've tried various other programs and come up with the same problem).
oh and u can also use audacity its really good too and its free. Even tho the audio is audacity files, it can turn it into a .wav file which will go into movie maker.

well i doubt you still answer comments on this vid as you made it more than a year ago, but i could appreciate some extra info, i need to know what type of mic you use, i have one but its awful quality, i also need to know the pattern in which you hook them up in, is it like Capture Card to VCR, Wii to VCR, TV to VCR? I think thats what i got from it. If its not hooked to the tv/vcr, does the picture still show on the PC as you play? I would like to do LP's and could desperately use your help
@AllNightmareLong1000 Answer- Yes the picture does show on the PC but usually it is very laggy. If you don't have a VCR another configuration would be to put AV splitters in to the capture card and plug your console's AV jacks into the splitters and get another set of AV cables, Plug one side to your TV and the other side to the splitters. And as for the microphone I use a Logitech USB Microphone. Hope this helped.

@ECMH2010 PJ64 doesn't have its own recording software (that I know of), your going to have to use camtasia or camstudio to record them.

when i try to record using my VC500 i get this really annoying green static at the bottom of my screen. is there a way to get rid of it or what?
also, when i record the video as AVI (any other format doesn't work or has really bad quality), the file is freaking huge-- way too big for youtube. will re-rendering it through WMM make it smaller?

@Spades2233 I've heard from various people that Audacity is great. I've tried it myself, and for some reason when I make big recordings, for some reason every so often I'll get this weird garbled sound where my voice should be.
However, I'm pretty sure that's just a problem with my computer and not the program (since I've tried various other programs and come up with the same problem).

@kickiwi no, but there is one that i use that is great, you can get it for 10 bucks online, and it works really well. its called easycap.

oh and u can also use audacity its really good too and its free. Even tho the audio is audacity files, it can turn it into a .wav file which will go into movie maker.

well i doubt you still answer comments on this vid as you made it more than a year ago, but i could appreciate some extra info, i need to know what type of mic you use, i have one but its awful quality, i also need to know the pattern in which you hook them up in, is it like Capture Card to VCR, Wii to VCR, TV to VCR? I think thats what i got from it. If its not hooked to the tv/vcr, does the picture still show on the PC as you play? I would like to do LP's and could desperately use your help

@AllNightmareLong1000 Answer- Yes the picture does show on the PC but usually it is very laggy. If you don't have a VCR another configuration would be to put AV splitters in to the capture card and plug your console's AV jacks into the splitters and get another set of AV cables, Plug one side to your TV and the other side to the splitters. And as for the microphone I use a Logitech USB Microphone. Hope this helped.

I always use Rom Hustler and Cool Rom for my roms. BTW romhustler is .net NOT .com xD

I tried recording like this on VBA, my audio gets way ahead and in Movie Maker for Windows 7 there is no timeline or ability to cut audio, what do you suggest? please give me an answer.

I understand the software that is used in your recordings, however the games I intend to play are for the Playstation 2 and project 64 emulator. How would I record then in the same fashion that you do?
