Hillel got a record deal with his other band "What Is This" and decided to play with them rather than with the Chili Peppers. Same with the drummer in the demos. It's not like Anthony kicked him out for being an asshole. It was Hillel's decision.

The demo's are better cause the producers wanted hits on the radio and the chilis wanted their energy not hits. They bucked it the whole time but couldn't od much about it in the end. This entire song is about the chilis, Slim is hillel, Tree is Flea and He called himself Alphonse the Swan or whatever, cool song.
