  • RUN! The Roman Tanks are comming!

  • @whatsthenews124 Heard of symbolism? XD

  • The Rock says: "Judas, know your role, and shut your mouth, you meally mouth punk!

  • i love this song!

  • The tanks only serve to supplement the awesomeness of this musical. Judas had the best voice of the lot of them.

  • @chuckyfan10 Carl Anderson was an Air Force military man, which makes his spit worth more than you and your whole worthless inbred family.

  • @kaindarkwind I'm a nigger queer too, kiss my fucking balls

  • Annas is brilliant in this film, couldnt have cast him better.

  • It WAS Blood Money- and Caiaphas knew it as well, that's why he hesitated. That was a good touch.

  • this story just like happen anytime

this manner, putting others in trouble and turning away from them, washing hands...

interesting that this never change... and sad it is occur over and over...

judas is a victim these lying leaders... and the most terryfying, leaders knows exactly they are doing...

    can we call them politicians?

  • Even a crappy third-rate local production of this was enough to make me a permanent fan.

  • Wow, it's a good thing Mr. Anderson is in this scene, cuz without him it would be reeally bad.

  • @RighteousPsycho

I'm sorry XD my mom keeps laughing at it!

  • Carl Anderson is one of my favorite singers ever!

  • hey Judas your Damned For All Time

  • @Super0rion And you know this for a fact? I heard that HItler was saved right before Gunsche shot him!

  • Talented man...thank you for posting~

  • I just love this!

  • I was watching this with my mom, and she kept laughing that she thought it sounded like Batman -___-

  • @kataradish Lol Tell your mum she's now ruined it for me! XD She's right though...

  • whenever i hear the lady gaga song judas i think of this man

  • Poor Judas. I always felt bad for him. He regretted what he did -- he hanged himself in the end.

RIP, Carl Anderson. No one will ever play Judas as well.

  • carl <3

  • carl anderson <3

i saw this when i was 13, i became so hypnotized by his voice I watched this hundreds of times.. such a loss, rest in peace.

  • Some of you should try and find the book "The Dead Sea Scrolls". It reveals that one of the scrolls was signed by Jesus of the Garden of Nazerath, stating that he watched his son Jesus, his son by Mary die on the cross. That said this is my favourite musical and the 1973 version is by far the best!

  • I've always had a bit of sympathy for Judas. It was probably predetermined that he would betray Jesus, and do you really think any one of us could resist if the devil entered our body? (Jesus refrences this fact) I truly think that if he had not killed himself, and had devoted the rest of his life to God's service, he could have been saved. But none of us could deal with the grief of killing The Messiah either.

  • @gambit7775 It never happend though?

  • @puregraffiti1 ... There are records of it happening. Wether you believe the religion is up to you but there are historical records that christ was a real person, he was betrayed by judas, and he did die on the cross.

  • @gambit7775 I don't doubt it But Please cite this so called evidence since no one has yet from my readings.

  • @gambit7775 I think it was A Plan that Jesus had and Judas was faithful till the end. Paul was never a Follower of Christ at ANY time in history btw.

  • This song is the most truthful of all of songs in Jesus Christ Superstar. Judas has spent over 1,900 years in the torments of Hell with the only hope of eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire, the second death.

  • I'm an atheist and this music is great. You definitely don't have to be Christian to dig this.

  • @katiekentuckyyy The guys who wrote it weren't christian either. Just fyi

  • @35TCK That doesn't surprise me, intellectual/creative people are generally not religious. Personally, though, I like it because of the music and the costume design in this film.... the theme and the relgious beliefs of the writers are kind of irrelevant to me.

  • @katiekentuckyyy

Indeed. I wish my town wasn't so conservative, so we could do that play herer. Some places never change.

  • @35TCK

You can tell they weren't. This tells the story of Jesus from a historical standpoint, rather than a religious one.

  • @osamabad It's not historic, per se. It's just a different take on the Biblical story. In that way, it is religious, but it's a sort of irreverent religion.

  • @Quouar

Well, I don't know for sure if it was historically accurate. I just meant that it goes into more detail about how Jesus's life played into the politics at the time, rather than it being about religion or morals.

  • it's weird that they didn't offer Judas less money because black people work for much less. and knowing Carl Anderson, he probably would've taken it and ran away.

  • @UltimateTechGeeks UR A ASS

  • @UltimateTechGeeks You may know Anderson but you appear to not even get the point..

You are the biggest bigot I have observed recently.

It is probably intentional on your half.

    So long Judas.

Even as an agnostic I will see you hang from a tree and smile.

    People that hate................?

  • @UltimateTechGeeks

By the way I am an older white man by definition.

You are a spiritualy starved person.

Ought to speak with someone eyeball to eyeball before making naive statements.

Could you even deal with the figurative 39 lashes.

  • @UltimateTechGeeks

Wait, seriously? You think ancient Israel was racially diverse?

  • Comment removed

  • @Astraeus216 The Israelis were much much darker than the ones now living there and that's a Historical fact! Hell just look at all their neighbors! Jews used to be black compared to these now living there!

  • LOL it's interesting how they are tanks in this movie. I always thought that was weird when I was a kid LOL.

  • Tanks & Jets are so cool in this video!

  • Tanks and Jets and Guns to show the pure power Romans and the Jewish Council(?) was!

  • Goddam Carl is great!

  • Ok so at 2:52, when that guy started singing, I was like 0_o dang he can sing high! even i cant do that....x

  • I love the parts with the pharisees, pretty cool!

  • R.I.P. Carl

  • The Church decided on scriptures to be included in the bible. There are older ones which are not such as the Book of Enoch in the old testament. The early Christian era has numerous documents which were not considered canonical such as the gospel of Judas and Mary Magdalene. The early gnostic Christian sects were wiped out in favor of what we come to know as popular Christianity.

  • @snuf23

well yes thats true but some of the old scriptures related more to the hebrews and judaism and was decided if a new religion was to be made we had to get rid of some of the old storys

i dont think it was an attempt at anything serious it just had to be done

my name sake saint samuel was cut from the new testament

  • how the hell are there tanks back wit jesus

  • @italianprideman But the jets didn't bother you?

  • You tell 'em, Judas.

  • Wrong. The church decided to only follow the ones they "liked". They didn't care if it was writtin 20 years before jesus was born.

  • The jets are either the angels calling to Judas or the Romans going after him like Momar Gidafhi!!!

    D:

  • Wish the audio was better.... I love this musical!!!

  • Which the audio was better.... I love this musical!!!

  • Why did whoever loaded this cut out the flyover by the two jets - came right after the tanks, IIRC.

  • @Mekratrig The jets fly over after he betrays jesus. 4:54

  • 30 years ago I was in this play. I played Pilot

  • Caius and the other guy make such a werid couple.

  • I love when the bass comes in @1:19

  • why is this so good?

  • 2:52 sounds like justin beiber

  • RIP Carl Anderson. He was awesome.

  • Great!

  • gotta love that voice of Carl's, simply amazing

  • What an explosive voice.

Best singer in the movie, indeed.

  • i laughed so much at the priests' voices XD

  • No one ever wonders what the bible was really about? It was based on stories, spread orally, 90 years after they happened. then they got rewritten, rewritten, destroyed, rewritten, translated, , rewritten, translated, one pope weeded out "unholy" parts, , rewritten, rewritten, approved for a certain king, he then chose his favourtie parts to keep in the book, rewritten, translated, rewritten, translated (now we probably are around 12th century), rewritten,..

  • @Tw1St3DSt33L

The Gospels say the truth, no manipulation, and the first has been written maybe just 20 years after Jesus's death, with many of the witnesses still alive. the Curch has decided, since the beginning, to use the oldest ones as the "good ones", simply becouse they were closer to the events than the others, and for many, many other RIGHT reasons..... too long and too difficult to explain in my poor english! :)

  • Some familys go to mass every sunday,...we watched this movie =]

  • are you all asuming they cast the asian woman as mary, because asians are good masseuses?...'clears throat'

  • I am not church goer and hate musicals, but this video is on of the few that I like the few songs from jesus christ super star the movie.

  • @Mr28091995 it's neither racist nor ironic, that's the whole point. Indeed, the black color has always symbolized the evil, but here it's very ambiguous, since Judas cannot be classified as purely negative character. Personally I like Judas, he really believed that what he's doing is good (at least as it's presented in JCS). Peter denied Jesus, but for some reason his name is not "damned for all times". It's not fair.

  • @ArmMermaid ye, im sure he thought he was doing the right thing when he sold jesus to his enemies....gag

  • @longfootbuddy Without Judas' "betrayal" (something he was told to do, by Jesus, in case you missed that part), the "messiah" christians worship would never have redeemed them, eh?

Like any other character, Judas fulfilled his role in the plotline, nothing more.

  • @BobChaos23 actually you missed it...jesus was telling him to go do what he was going to do because jesus knew he was planning his evil.. in other words, jesus was saying "look asshole, dont pretend you love me, go and do the evil your planning"

  • @BobChaos23 many confused christians believe in all kinds of insane doctrines based on misinterpretations of the bible.. i have no need to defend theyr misguided beliefs.. theyr wrong about most of it

  • @BobChaos23 they would have found jesus eventually (probably within the week) even if Judas had not betrayed Jesus. Don't take this movie to be anything accurate to what really happened.

  • @kennyspillsstuff Read what I wrote.

  • @kennyspillsstuff Actually, there's no proof that any of it happened. It's a bible story. There are no corroberating sources for any of it. That said, if you take it on faith, then Jesus did say he would be "betrayed" and seemed to infer that it was important.

  • The beginning of the videoclip is really the most powerful scene in the movie.. I love Carl Anderson in this role, amazing voice indeed!

  • hey guys he may be black but i tell you now he fits the character perfectly and his voice is amazing. R.I.P CARL ANDERSON YOUR A LEDGEND AND HAD A BLOODY AWESOMELY BRILLIANT VOICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MishNMashed I know, I really loved this man in the role of Judas. he really felt the part. An awesome actor, and an awesome singer. No one could have replaced him in this role.

  • @Mr28091995 ahh, i see now. now that i think of it, i suppose you're right. you, know, they could have at least included some other black characters, so the bad guy wasn't the only one.

    sorry for the miscommunication

  • @TheBlueHandOfDeath they did, simon was black

  • @TheBlueHandOfDeath simon was black

  • @Mr28091995 hey, dont hate

  • Yeah, if I was wearing all black in a desert evironment, I wouldn't wear a shirt either.

  • If i was the only black dude around, i would have taken the money also, and said, hey the mofo be over there !!

  • @Mr28091995 haha let me guess and jesus was black though?!? pigment is irrelevant here, the brother had talent RIP!

  • judas was my favorite... he always looked like the bad guy but really he did what he thought was right.

  • Someone please tell me who the super-soprano-pharisee is in the recorded version...

Amazingly high voice, and not in falsetto as far as i can hear. A woman? fake?

  • @RatRaper The character's name is Annas. Kurt Yaghjian is the name of the actor.

  • @Mr28091995 No, he had to be the best singer EVER ... the actor just happened to be black.

  • @Mr28091995 Carl Anderson is one of the finest singers to ever grace this Earth, and Judas is portrayed in a human light rather than the villainous portrayal he has in other works. This was a case of Anderson simply being the best fit for the part, and we're all the better for it.

  • I love the symbolism x_x

  • wondeful!

  • YEAHH Judas was the first one! With her black color...Film for all time

  • YEAHH Judas was the first one! With her black color...

  • This is totally the Batman theme! Hate to be a buzzkill, but I really see it.

  • 4:55 WTF???? Can someone please explain that to me?

  • @PianoMan53100 Don't worry, it's 1973. That's just the Yom Kippur War. Ignore it.

  • this would have been fantastic if the modern weapons had not been used

  • @mican12001 the modern references in this movie are genious they represent what judas says at the end of the movie during the song superstar, he asks jesus why he came when he did and why not in modern times when there was mass communication and he could have reached the whole world during his time on earth and not just the middle east

  • even tough im an atheist, the story of jesus is compelling

  • @mastaODI56 yes, but that is also all it is, a story.

  • @mastaODI56 So is star wars :)

  • @mastaODI56 Well even if you don't believe in God Jesus did live...you don't have to believe he was the son of god to find his story compelling.

  • Judas has so great voice, I believe, that he is "the good one".

  • This particular recording has to be the only version of the story where Judas is the audience's favourite.

  • 2:52 haha what is up with that guy's voice?

  • @TheVVanderingStar he has a diffrent voice then most men or he is castrated or both

  • @TheVVanderingStar Gay Pharisee? XD

  • not being a buzz kill just pointing out

  • i think bill murey in the studio version is better , but anywat tv version is beatiful!

  • i love this so so so much.

  • tanks?!?!

  • @TheMisticalpip The Guns and Tanks + planes were to show how much of a tech barrier there was, and why they needed a messiah like Christ to guide them. They have shovels, the Romans have machine guns. They sure as heck couldn't rebel.

  • @StalkingSpartan i was just saying cuz there wasnt tanks then and i knew that i was just being funny

  • carl anderson had an AMAZING set of pipes

  • rip carl anderson, great singer!! aside from that its funny to think them tanks were in a real war,i think a year after this was filmed.

  • na na na na na na na BATMAN !

  • @MagikMac god dammit hahahahaha you win

  • @MagikMac ?

  • Judas was the greatest!!!!

  • why does carl have to be the bad? i wanna kike him in the movie but i cant :(

  • Love Love Love! Although it came out SIXTEEN years before I was born!

  • The whole Idea of this rock opera was amazing and charged with many meanings...

    GREAT

  • Haha, I remember watching this scene when I was around four years old and being totally confused.

I was all like "Mom! Mom! Mom! Why were there TANKS chasing him? They didn't even INVENT tanks yet!"

    Geez.

  • this made me moist.

  • Aversome! Carl we miss you!

  • Omg! This video is amazing. Btw I love what they did with this movie as Judas as one of the centeral characters and not showing him as a wicked jealous betrayer or anything but showing him as a lovable character who fell for temptation.

  • I love this Hendrix inspired music in this move!

  • i dont WANT YO BLOOD MONEY!

    omg this movie

  • there are many reasons why i love this

but id just like to say that this is timeless

in 100 years this will be just as amazing as it was and is now. :)

  • tanks?seriously?very.....jazzy music?

  • If there was jesus he was defo a hippie amazing i love rock and roll opera

  • this is kickass but i also like Scratch Acid's version...

  • sorry for all the fans of this version but I think the Annas of the millenium version is way better than this one..

  • I had the album back in '75. Joined Columbia House, got 12 albums for 99 cents. :9)

  • i didnt know they had aeroplanes back then :/

  • @alloimlindseyloham

They didn't, nor did Roman soldiers carry machine guns or wear muscle shirts.

  • @alloimlindseyloham omg.. you're totally dumb...

  • annas=god of that movie
