  • How do keep the plow on the ground without having them move out of place when hitting a bump? This a idea is great no emissoins and recycling this is great

  • you got this idea off the guy in Canada

  • There's no such thing as global warming or carbon footprints, that's just bullshit made up by people who don't live up north and know what a real winter is.

  • i be a chick magnet with that thing, this winter i be saving stranded hot women with it, i'm going to be a hero this winter.=]

  • I think it is a cool idea. i am making a pedal powered machine. But where I diverge is at the point where you said, " Of course you need a set of wheels." In snow, wheels just spin. My machine is propelled by an action of a snowshoe, or cross country ski(r?)

  • might make my own

  • wtf white people?!

  • yea bro

  • like.

  • 1000$

  • Why dont you just use a shovel??? The point of electric or gasoline snow plough is that it makes it easier, which this one obviously doesnt.

And having an arrow shaped plowshare is even more stupid, you are either using just half of the machine's width, or you are moving the snow forth and back...

  • great idea!

  • "invented" i only see a ugly bicycle.

  • WTF? useless

  • You are probably better off *without* the differential since now if 1 wheel spins, the other just stops. Without the diff, both wheels will keep moving when one hits ice.

  • Apparently you have never shoved snow up north . I would love to see that thing work on just a foot of snow, on a driveway that is on a hill, with a layer of ice underneath the snow.

  • @eqrunner what part do u live up north in live in spokane wa

  • @eqrunner your point is irrelevent because this was not designed for heavy snow and ice it was designed for light snow and little to no ice, what you are doing is kinda like complaining that a prius doesn't go off road, sure its a car with four wheels but it was not designed to go off road so it doesn't work off road.

  • well ice i gess you can just use chains but like u said up north you got me there up hill screw that just use a reg snow plow!!

  • You should make one so that you can lift it up as well

  • it doesn't look easy to clear snowwith that thing, i can see you stuggling as it collects over the plowblades.

  • Your ass it's zero emissions. Ha! Take it hippie. Close your eyes and never look at the prospective view. Equal and opposite reaction BEYOTCH!

  • That is bad-ass.

  • Time & effort to build it = time you could have used clearing your whole neiborhood by hand.

  • blade angle fail.....

  • this design is FAIL. no tilt blade, no nonslip tires (studded, or chains)

and as far as your carbon foot print what about all the shit you bought to build this that was probably all made in china in a factory spewing out soot!

  • You are genius!!!

  • ... A machine that gives you buns of STEEL

  • I know this sort of thing kills a small budget but have you given any thought to adding an electric assist system from an electric bicycle? You could even forgo expensive fancy batteries and use a couple of marine batts instead for the better price and extra weight. Add a solar charger to top it up between snowfalls and you're still pretty green but with extra power and weight.

Good fun project though, thanks for sharing!

  • $50, in a store near me = sold

  • Doesn't look like it would work for more than four or five inches of snow, frankly.

  • @NSResponder yeah it's better suited for places like Ohio and others of the like where we get about that much snow a year. Not Minnesota or Wisconsin XD

  • What if you put a small generator, maybe a car alternator on it which powered a light weight electric motor. You could get infinite amounts of power due to pedaling, or you could hook the power up from the drive axle, to the generator, to the battery, to the electric motor..

    INFINITE ELECTRICITY!

    Problem,Electric Company?

  • i want one...

  • holy shit.

  • i want 4.

  • Do the folks at Instructables know about his?

  • I would like to point out that humans both consume resources and expel waste emissions.

  • Comment removed

  • Seems like you didnt account for the extra shovel you had to buy seeing that you need 2 for your plow. Footprint just expanded....

  • love this idea! a great way to get some exercise and clear the driveway at the same time. i wish more people thought this way.

  • THATS AWESOME!

  • Bloody brilliant!

  • that would be so cool especially if it was ls1 powered

  • A machine that will take 5 hours to clean your driveway...

  • paging ValdezTeleHead!!

  • Nice idea, too bad it wouldn't be useful in snow that is deep or heavy enough to require a snow blower or plow. Also, Kevin, read-up on what a differential does and why four-wheeled vehicles have them.

  • Great job on the rig! Very good production on video too. Thanks for sharing!

  • how much would you make me one for?

  • You are fully licensed and bonded by the state, aren't you Mr. Plow?

  • thats awesome. how do conect the plow to the front?

  • awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lašara, darīt nav ko amerikāņiem..

  • im making one out of a kettal kart and 2 shovles and some easyties and stuff lik that but im sad i cant go backwards

  • @berlinwood39 i think that would be cool but if u cant go backward all u hav to do is turn in to the road and turn around

  • @berlinwood39 yea thanks for the idea

  • where to buy ?

  • I like it , I want this so bad. How did you to the backwards and worwards pedalling?

  • "Carbon footprint" hahaha that dog won't hunt. Just call it a healthy plow....and then get a shovel for when there's serious snow like 18 inches an hour.

  • THAT'S PRETTY CUTE, YOU HAVE A LOT OF GREAT IDEAS THERE, I DON'T THINK YOU NEED TO LIMIT IT TO YOUR SALES PITCH, BUT GREAT IDEAS ANYWAY

  • what about a shovel?

  • what a waste of a lawn tractor transmission. These fetch good money in the uk for lawnmower racing.

  • Well done. Did you patent it? What are you gonna retail it for, pricewise?

  • whoa! ease up on the crazy effects man! seeing the plow was big in itself!!

this would be good..if it werent so DumB

  • How no just take out the pedals. Add two electric motors and two 12volt batteries.

Eco friendly, more powerful. Just plug it in and charge before use.

  • @BigScotty1972 but to charge you would have to plug it in which comes from the power plant that uses fossil fuels to generate electricity making a demand for more fossil fuels leaving a lager carbon footprint.. the electric motors is a good idea but use a solar panel car battery charger to charge it up :) or a pedal powered generator to charge it up at night for use the next day and burn off the calories from all the hot coco in the winter month at the same time :)

  • @kill1 Unless you live in the pacific northwest where the dams generate the power-even then, you're still paying for the electricity.

  • look like a dumbass using it

  • wouldnt that make it really hard to peddle

  • RIP lawnmower....you are gone but not forgotten

  • where can I get one??

  • its a neat little design but you should leave out the rant about gas powered vehicles, gas powered vehicles are more fun and give out more power.

  • Totally awesome, better than my old fashioned shoveling.

  • i like it

  • idk i think its a great idea and very smart :)

  • so can i has one?

  • dude, if i lived in ohio still i would so build something like that! looks like alot of fun. curious, can you still shift gears for high and low range for the torque?

  • add a salter to the back, just a bucket that is on a a shaker with some holes inthe bottom

  • 0 emmisions!? What about when you fart!?

  • can u make me one i'll give u 200

  • Pretty awesome. Only thought I had was what happens if you hit a big pile of snow, or something else where you're stopped and pedaling is too hard to push on. If there was some energy storage device between the pedals and the wheels where, under normal situations no energy is stored, all power goes to the wheels, but if the wheels stop and the pedaling continues power builds up until it pushes though. It would let you keep pedaling a steady rate instead of hitting a frustrating stop.

  • @Calabast you could achieve a similar effect if you put more gears on it

  • Brilliant Idea!

  • will it pol 100ton of sno

  • Carbon footprint? Hope you know something like 96% of carbon in the air is from natural decay.

  • even if the real snow plows are loud they are alot stronger

  • Mr Plow, That's My Name

That Name Again is mr plow

  • stating that this is more effeciant than a electric is not quite true, it is not free to run, the human body burns calories just like a engine burns fuel

  • @petthekittyz Yeah, but you need to exercise to stay healthy, and North Americans eat way too much anyway, much more than they need to maintain their body. I don't know a single person who has the problem of burning too much calorie fuel...

  • I asked to make a pedal-powered snow plow as part of my welding design class, but I was told it was "beyond the scope" of the class. Haha. I ended up making bicycle repair stands,,, but it's good to see the idea has taken life!

  • Okay kevin since you know how to plow regluar snow do you know how to help me plow ladies snow. PLOW THE SNOW HELP ME!

  • what in the hell?!?!?

  • This seems to be more of a pedal powed lawn tractor idea to me.

Give the tractor away ,and make money selling the attachments.

Plowing , mowing, hauling ... All Good!

  • Man, if I had one of these, I would take it down the street to the bike/ped trail, and ride it a mile or two to help out my fellow bike commuters.

    Nice work!

  • "A machine that reduces our carbon footprint in this word."

I am a cycling and exercise fanatic. This machine is good for a lot of reasons. However. There have been massive geologic and climactic changes throughout earth's gazillion years of history. There's no reason to conclude that they have stopped. Man's contribution, compared to the natural forces at work, is infinitesimal - effectively nonexistent. We don't have the power to help or hurt. Particularly, CO2 is BENIGN BENIGN BENIGN!

  • Thats SMART THINKING A+

  • i liked the lat line.............greAt design..god bless u

  • dude gas all the way

  • Comment removed

  • @Geoffr524 wow way to take the mature road here dumbass

  • I pictured something similar as a kid, but never had the opportunity or resources to bring it to life. Your design one ups me though, seating the operator over the rear wheels, letting his weight be applied directly to the drive wheels My only concern would be riding this up a hill steeper than in your driveway...maybe chaining a sand bag or something under the front of the chassis for ballast would solve this?

  • dude i want one can ya make me one no joke

  • This is not the world's best invention, but it is inspirational and you are doing your bit, so respect. May I suggest interchangeable plows for the different jobs. The v-shape for clearing a thin path for pedestrians. The conventional shape for greater expanses such as trying to clear the end of the street.

  • Genius 10/10

  • methinks the cold has 'got to you'.

  • i live in canada EH i need one eh

  • i want it where do i buy it??

  • Brilliant. Absolutly Brilliant.

  • put more gears on it and longer pedals. should reduce the effort needed to pedal

  • Why would a differential "help" traction in the snow? Power to both wheels makes more sense.

Anyway, other than that ,it looks good.

  • @1SnarfyDude I assume since it'd be from a mower it would be an LSD not just an open diff. Allowing power to go to both rear wheels, and not have the problems of a Lock diff during corners.

Good cheap design by the maker.

  • Haha - nice!

  • the only problem I see is that you shouldn't have used a v shaped plow because all it does push it to the side and you have to keep doing it over and over but with an angled one or even straight one you don't have to

  • Super cool, but I doubt it would handle the winters I have to deal with.

  • thats cool man how did you make it

  • i want one

  • didnt work for Quebec Winter

  • haha right. We have a little bit more snow :P

  • HA! 0 carbone outtake..... try this up in northern Québec, where winter IS winter, and watch your carbone sweat pour from every pore of your body!!!!!!! B***h

  • Cool!

  • wtf ?

  • such a smart design! i buy!

  • engineering power ! wow !

  • No emissions??? Don't let the global warming nuts here you say that. They might tax you on your CO2 emissions as you exhale from the workout. Seriously though, that's not only pretty cool, it's also practical. If I had a garage workshop, I might build one myself, since I have 130 feet of sidewalk to clear off when it snows. Best I could do is a pedal powered industrial sewing machine for doing leather work.

  • geat idea man

  • I'd rather have a an outlander or grizzly with mudlites and a snow plow, and a million dollars, lol

  • thats great for all the fat ass's in the us

  • @34celticpride They'd just pay some Mexican to do it

  • absolutaly

  • @34celticpride how do you figure your working out its not like theres a motor dumbass

  • @TheMlf because they are sitting down you fucker

  • @34celticpride but there pedaling bitch

  • @TheMlf the point it there being as lazy as possible while SHOVELING snow, instead of standing up and WALKING thay are sitting on there ASS

  • that is queer go gas powered

  • do a wheelie hahahh thats shweet

  • i agree good job that is awsome and deffenitly good for the earth good job two thumbs up.

  • this is realy cool

  • Awesome that would be perfect for where i live. I want to build one.

  • its cool but useless if u live in canada, if u can pedal threw 6 feet of snow then be my guest

  • Sweet 5 stars

  • Wouldn't an angled plow work better? Cool idea though.

  • it would worck better but more difficult to pedal / push

  • ....and that machine is called a shovel.

  • Thats awesome man!

  • was it a belt drive mower with the wheel on top? is so how do i switch it?

  • where can i get a gear box? let me know

  • i am going to be building one

  • That is the coolest thing all day
