has anyone notice something wrong in addtion to the not following the 15m rule? he is wearing a full body suit, not on the FINA rules!!! pathethic, from beginning to end...
I'm a competitive swimmer and I have a few things to say about this bullshit; firstly there is nothing amazing about what this guy is doing - he broke the rules by not surfacing after 15m. The other swimmers can underwater just the same if they wanted to but they aren't idiots. Secondly this guy isn't the best underwater man, not even close. Watch videos of a real underwater master like Michael Phelps who stays under water even when in total oxygen dept.
It just proves to man that there is more efficient way to move through water, than the ones on surface. I confirm on the base of autopsy. Obviously he knew that this is against the rules - maybe it was just for fun.
holding your breath and keeping your body moving is difficult. is this the first time this happened? that guy deserves the record, but that would mean from now on evrybody will try the underwater route to glory and that will take away the beauty of swimming
@madVal8 in the 90's people did do this. In finals you could watch all 8 swimmers do full 50's and 100's underwater. The rule is maximum 15m underwater so that backstroke is still backstroke
How would that make swimming more of a competitive sport? Please do explain.....
You really think he'd have a chance against the best swimmers? No, they would beat his time and then swimming would just be even more boring to watch! There are rules for a reason. Now if they made a seperate event for it, then fair enough!
Thumbs uo if you held your breath to see if you can do the same

haha this was insane!
SiriusSkywalker 1 year ago 5
He was "denied" the record because he cheated. You're only allowed to go 15m underwater in the 50m backstroke. He broke the rules.

sorry for the ignorance ....so what happened ? did he actually win or its a DQ?
steadylang101 1 year ago
@steadylang101
DQ. It is against the rules to be underwater that long ....I don't know the exact length. Basically you move faster under water.

wtf man. to be able to this, it's already tougher than backstroke itself. plus you need to have a good stamina holding your damn breath!

Of course it does not qualify, but still pretty cool.
Maybe there should be an official underwater only race...
dbin78 1 year ago 74
@dbin78 So it would qualify if he came out of the water 1 meter before the end?
arjammm 1 year ago
@arjammm No it wont. you can only stay underwater for the 1st 15 meters then you must surface!

untouchable42 1 year ago
in swimming rules and regulations there is a limit to how far you can go underwater in backstroke. I agree he should have been DQed.
