  • Im sure its Hargalaten. Most likely your player messed up all your tracks from Lunar strain

  • Not being rude or anything. But I have the album, and this isn't Hargalaten. If you guys listen to the Everlost, Part II video, that's Hargalaten on the album. Not sure if my albums just fuckered up or something, but yea. Idk lol

  • @SirLongBongFatRipps This IS Hårgalåten. It's an old Swedish folk song.

  • Good!

  • Folk music becomes good when it's under the name " In Flames"

  • @MrSpacerooster Folk music is always great. Noob.

  • the best part of this is when the violin starts the solo.

  • Notice 8-Bit noise at 0:51 ?? In Flames are ahead of their time!

  • honestly this is how folk metal should be done, so many bands seam to forget that the folk part extendes to far more then just the instrumentation

  • Can someone tell me where to download Lunar Strain with correct tracks? When I download it, this song is called In Flames, the titles are wrong.

  • @MrMrFreddy

Buy it men! FE on Ebay

  • @MrMrFreddy

    Buy it men!

  • @wakond I did ;) I was planning to buy it anyway

  • @MrMrFreddy Try buying the record and support the band. Just a suggestion! :)

  • @Whey801 I've already bought it :D now I've almost completed early In Flames discography, and I went to their concert in Milan :D

  • As i see it In Flames making a tribute to what once was in Sweden. This is folklore from the old days when peoples belevie was strong in christianity. The devil played violin for the young ones so they were dancing instead of going in church. They followed him up the hill of Hårga and he didn`t stopped playing until all had danced therselves to death. This melody is about 200 years old and it`s nice whoever keeps the history alive.

  • @MrBloomen Sweet, I never knew that. Haunting stuff right there. ;)

  • @MrBloomen what once was in sweden is not christian extremeists. christianity ruined scandinavian culture. how this comment has so many thumbs up is beyond me.

  • @zenmaster666 I´m not writing about what we believed in from the beginning in Scandinavia when we worshiped many gods, just the time when this original melody was made (aprox. 200 years ago) and at that time it was christianity. I know my history very well when i´m in fact are swedish. Fair enough? :)

  • @rancid237 shut up and learn to spell.

  • @mushroomheadpwner

this is a shit men, very boring

  • @rancid237 i fak ur mader

  • @Reatbuster

    is the really men

  • @rancid237 kommon men is good song yes why no?

  • @Reatbuster

I do not know, I really do not like this kind of music, and I do not think it's like anders, because since I get the song returned to any look like this

  • @rancid237 sajtos nagyon jo

  • Hälsingland :D

  • @SwedenArise där ska man bo

  • Does anyone know of any other metal/folkmusik instrumentals like this?

  • @SycamoreHill14 Best folkmetal band ever must be Alestorm. Its also about pirates, which makes it like the best band in the world.

  • @tobiasbas Dude, seriously, thanks for the suggestion. Since I read your comment about 2 hours ago, I've been downloading Alestorm's shit. Damn, I can't believe I had never listened to these guys before. Again, thank you so much. :)

  • @SycamoreHill14 No, thank YOU for listening to me. :)

And for listening to Alestorm. They are all about music. They support 'illegal' download of MP3's and sites such as The piratebay. They even have a shirt that says so on the back with Piratebays logo, because they want people to listen to their music instead of just earning money like most artists. These guys are more than just music. I'd love to go to one of their concerts! :D

  • Haragalaten is a swedish folk song thats actually alot more grim than you might think. the Song is about a wandering traveler (who portrays The Devil) who roams from village to village playing this song on his violin. Which causes the women of the villages to dance themselves to death.

  • @VideoWatcher225

Not the women, the youth who does not go to church. The "saga" was made to make the young people to go to church instead of going to the dancing lodge on sundays.

  • this song made me cry ;(

  • awesome, hail from Finland

  • Från Hälsingeskogarna. =)

  • This is true in flames.

  • Check out the Kebnekajse version of this folk song.

  • lol

  • I live in harga there the song comes from:)

  • Nice variant on this old polska. Otherwise my quota for silly arguments seems to have been filled here. All-out aggressiveness for an 8 year old comment? And the immediate berserker response. I love youtube it makes everything in life seem much saner.

  • Awesome... magical... I can listen at it for hours. It's in my head all day. I think it's really enchanting

  • this song is the very best one to just have on in the background when you're playing role playing game. I love it so damn much! :O

  • this shit makes me proud of being from hälsingland!

  • is it true that there was a promo version for this with the girl singen on everlost part 2? i wanna find that

  • Stolt svensk :D Hårgalåten är så jävla brutal! :D

  • bästa låten utan tvekan

  • nordish and sweedish people can sure write good music

  • ok so after re-riping lunar strain i think it may have been mislabled on my pc o.O

GREAT SONG NO MATTER WHAT ITS CALLED DAMN IT

  • @KAOMetalHead

Damn near all the songs are mislabeled on the remastered editions (at least in the US). Behind Space is correct at number 1, but then Clad in Shadows is supposed to be 2, with all the other song names moving down one spot.

  • unless the hard copy of lunar strain im holdin is wrong, this song is called in flames. hargalatan has female vocals

  • The hard copy of lunar strain you're holding is wrong.

This song is Hargalaten. In Flames sounds nothing like this.

  • @PSNBloodraid yeah, my copy used to be labeled "In Flames" and when i looked for it on youtube it was a completely different song

  • @PSNBloodraid

    It's on the album anyway.

  • In Flames>awesome

  • Kommer ihåg att som liten spelade gammelfarfar denna för mig på felan sin.. Härliga minnen till en underbar melodi.

  • I wasn't really talking about a VIOLIN, but the Hardanger Fiddle, the "violin" with 8 strings etc. It's a norwegian instrument. :)

  • The hardanger fiddle, th instrument they are using, is norwegian. But it's also used a lot in sweeden.

  • well, The violin in its present form emerged in early 16th-Century Northern Italy, so no its not a Norwegian instrument, but its used alot in the scandinavium. Also in the rest of the world.

  • The Hardanger Fiddle is from Norway.

  • Totally Epic!

  • where can i find the promo for this? i have looked everywhere

  • swedish folkmusik at it's finest!

  • I have no idea what they _claim_ it is, but the melody is absolutely Hårgalåten.

The song was around for at least a century before the album. But I guess some people are so dumb, they think "Trad." is the name of some musician who's written a LOT of songs.

  • THIS IS HARGALATEN its a old swedish song

  • @indoom666 fuck face! the real name is HÅRGALÅTEN" the title is not in English, it's in Swedish, therefore we use Swedish letters!!! "HÅRGALÅTEN! "

  • @RIckardMB Blow me the title was different when i wrote that.

  • @indoom666 The correct title is "Horgalåten" or "Hårgalåten" (both spellings are being used). The title comes from the Swedish village Hårga, and "låten" which means the tune or the song. So a translation would be "Tune from Hårga". It is also being sung with lyrics.

  • No mistake was made by the producers or artists. This is Hargalaten.

  • i own the lunar strain/ subterranean combo disc and on that this song is labeled hargalaten. in flames is a different song imo, but thats just what i know, maybe there was a mislabeling on one or more of the presses.

  • Thats what i have and it has the amazing guitar and the girl singing?

  • Ah yes forgot something. The song with the woman is Everlost pt II. Also parts of the 1993 promo version of the song In Flames sound a lot like this in some parts. I hope that clears up the confusion.

  • I own every single album (including the re-releases) and this is Hargalaten, the true hargalaten at least. The song In Flames is much more metal than this and has vocals.

  • umm yeah guys,I own Lunar Strain, this song is actually Called In flames, the song you are thinking of is..well sung by a girl o.o,And if you think I am lying, them click spam, but w/e go ou tand buy the REAL fuckign album

  • trust me thats in flames ;)

  • This is In Flames, not Hargalaten.

  • e kär!

  • Typical swedish and very awesome.

  • Can somebody give a link to read about this song? I want to learn the complete history...

[Sorry for my bad english :D]

  • Try wiki. Hårgalåten.

It´s a moralistic song about how dancing and frivolistic music can turn the impressionable youth away from god and in to the arms of Satan.

A typical protestant sentinent in the 19´th century.

  • In short christian propaganda

  • Yeah. More or less:) Many people emigrated from sweden in the 1800´s because of religious oppresion. The priests even made housecalls to make sure that you knew the teachings of Martin Luther.

  • I know but the song was actually made more then 9000 years ago I'm not lying man I done reserch on this -.-

  • Comment removed

  • The song tells the story about when the devil came to the village of Hårga and played his violin and tricked the teenagers in the village to follow him up to Hårga mountain, where he played the song until they all dropped dead. I live just outside of Hårga and I`ve been there several times and you can even see their footsteps ;)

  • Very similar to an American folk song, except there was no death involved. The Devil met a southern boy named Johnny, Johnny bet his soul for a fiddle of gold and challenged the Devil to see who was the better fiddler. This song was composed by the great Charles Daniels who wrote this song in the late 1900's and titled this song "Devil went down to Georgia". :D

  • This song was originally composed by Swedish dinosaurs during the Jurassic period.

    True story.

  • i lol'd.

  • Me too

  • towtally

  • You know, as someone with viking roots also interested in history, and who lives in the southern united states,

the story of this song as well as the explanations by people who live in sweden and norway, remind me a lot of the song, "devil went down to georgia" by charlie daniels.

    It just does.

  • Yeah, only that in Hårgalåten the devil wins :)

  • dude lol THIS IS A GUTITAR COVER LOL GET IT RIGHT THIS SONG WA SMADE 9000 YEARS AGO OR MORE YOU DAMED FOOL XD FUCKIGN RETARD

  • Are you fucking retarded? They didn't have violins 9000 years ago. Fuck you, idiot. This song is about The Hårga tale, an old legend from my home country, Sweden. The oldest notes about this legend are only a few hundred years old.

  • "Over 9000" is an internet meme sprung from Dragonball.

  • Ah, so Mycokerulseyayd was referring to dragonball? I was a bit confused since i am quite sure hårgalåten is not 9k years old.

  • Some facts. Hi. I come from Sweden, and have read the lyrics. They're about the devil coming to Hårga, a town, and plays a song which enchant them all, then they dance until they die. I sang this song first when i was like 9 years old :]

It's just In Flames cover that lacks lyrics.

  • I can't stop dancing!

  • haha xD you know the story of the song or you cant realy stop dancing? xD

  • Rofl I love the people saying "ZOMG DIS REEL DUDE DIS RILLY HAPPENED"

  • This is not Hargalaten, It is the song In Flames from the album Lunar Strain. geez, get it right

  • Comment removed

  • No it is Hargalaten. I thought it was In Flames too, but I've been looking around and In Flames has its lyrics and everything. Not to mention Itunes screwed up all the titles for the songs.

  • Yes, it is Hargalaten, the song names on some Lunar Strains are messed up - mine are too, but if you check the hargalaten covers, you'll see that this is actually hargalaten and not the song In Flames

  • Yeey! Hårgalåten =)

  • Should be In Flames ThemeXD

  • I totally agree!!!!!!

  • maybe whoever played the song first was just a really really REALLY good violin player an everyone was so enamored with his awesome playing they FORGOT to stop......nah just kiddin it was the devil

  • jag älskar denna låten :D

  • Jag drömde om denna låten och gick och nynnade på den i ca 3 år innan jag hörde den med inflames. ( I dreamed about this song, and hum it for 3 years before i heard it with inflames.) spännande med andra intryck jag fått.

  • Great melody - even for my Greek ears

    North folk melodies are amazing

You should listen some Greek traditional island songs with a lot of violin

  • Any tips what to search for to find that? =)

  • WRAIOS! kai egw ! porothika In Flames instumentals ta spane!

  • Lol to civinco...

  • Its an old saying that says that it is the Devil himselve, who wrote the song. He appeared on a dance evening and started to play and people danced until they dropped dead...

  • if everyone dropped dead, who brought it forward then? :P

  • Me.

  • There was one survivor who was smart enough to not dance and later found everyone dead outside the place they was dancing.

  • and also, the saying says the walked into the village, where other people (too old or too young to go to a dance) were still waiting, and the devil made the dancers jump off a cliff, so the people in the village probably heard it... :)

  • oh to any idiots who say "oh this song was mad ein the 30s" yeah no it wasn't this song is over 12000 years old and do not say it isn't because this song was made before Jesus was born

  • So it was made in sweden during the ice age. Yeah that really make sense.

  • Men hur fan tänkte de när de spelade in låten utan text?

  • Hargalaten=Song of forest

    look at bands reportages,you'll find...

  • How do you pronounce the name of this song?

  • whore-gha-loh-ten :)

  • LOL, true though!

  • Thanks man =]

  • Lol!

  • Don't listen to eirik, he can't pronounce Swedish :D horgaloten. The r should be behind your lips, not the dark English r. The o is our å, think of the o in sow or the o in Latin or German.

  • Thanks :)

  • I hate it that for the longest time, due to the way that the track listing was on the back of the CD was that this song was called "In Flames", and the preceding acoustic/female vocal track was Hargalaten. That burns my ass...

  • Personally I think it's one of their best songs, except that they didn't write. Their interpretation is excellent though. In Flames should let their melodies rule, leave the heavy stuff to others (my opinion).

  • Ultima Thules version av denna är riktigt bra =)

  • Hårgalåten is an old swedish folksong and it´s about the devil disguised as a fiddler. When he starts playing people can´t stop dancing. They dance until they drop dead. If you search for "Gottfrid Oskarsson - Hårgalåten" you can here the original song with text.

  • this version of the song is beautiful, but theres some parts which is less tight... but this song is sooo beautiful, and sooo swedish.

  • Svenskt! :D

  • wow it's soooo beautiful.........=)

  • Love this 1st Album, love the growling, 1993-1997 were In Flames their Greatest Years, songs and performances. This is a must. Amazing.

  • Didn't know that it was a folk song and it was about the devil. Hehe. So In Flames is disguising their fans with this song, huh ? :)

  • grym låt jävel shwenskt som faaaan

  • Hårga's myth about the devil is my favorite ^^ But then of course,I live in Hälsingland in Sweden and can this song in memory.

Great version but not the best ^^
