  • ??? If a jeep can't pull 5000 LB??? what makes you think human can??? (in the video)

  • Is this a 50-ies caravan? Looks bad ass!

  • love the radio in the background. space science. great cruising tunes.

  • I can see that was in Calif. The speed limit when towing is 55mph in Calif.. I'm sure he was going faster then that by the way the accident looked.

  • lol, dumbasses, only in a jeep, good luck following a jeep through trails, use a jeep for what its made for

  • It's a full on double double star!

  • It's ok it's not a JEEP. But properly loaded and intelligently driven a JEEP or this Land Cruiser would be able to tow that trailer just fine.

  • @terravarious everything with 4 wheel drive is referred to as a Jeep in this day and age...just goes to show you...whether ppl hate the brand or love it...it will always be in EVERYONES heart

  • thats no jeep

  • If two guys can lift and pull that trailer, the Jeep defineatly can as well. Blame the driver human factor, not the vehicle.

  • @Phantasmos

So the jeeps short wheel base has no factor in it? Or its weak rear suspension?

  • @taledarkside, that factor is Not enough, Nature blowing is not enough, the traffic condition is not enough to cause a jack knife. The over all malfunction lies solely on the driver for Not considering road conditions.

To many folks driving in/under unsafe conditions. I towed a trailer w/79 Camaro w/2002 6 inline wrangler. Properly mounted & distributed weight on trailer axles releived a lot of weight on the bumper while Driving at legal speed @ 50 mph. I Knew, Got License?

  • @Phantasmos

Are you a mechanical engineer to know different? You should tow the same trailer as that guy.

  • @taledarkside, commons sense my friend, and yes I was an 12B10 - and also worked as a winch operator.

I repeat, look at the video. Two adult men lifted, spun and turned the trailer to hitch it to the tow truck - easy when empty. If two men can lift, a jeep wrangler w/o mods can tow.

  • @Phantasmos

I can lift and pull an airplane. Lifting a trailer has nothing to do with the stabability and the leverage forces being applied to the towing vehicle. An empty trailer also is more vulnerable to bumps where it will leave the road and land in a different track of the tow vehicle.

  • @taledarkside, by your own admitance - forces applied while towing @ road conditons = Driver Error.

  • @Phantasmos

i'm not talking about the forces that the driver creates.

  • @taledarkside. Ok, driver error aside, mechanical wise, that trailer can be towed just by seeing to men lift, spin and hitch to tow truck. What is the load rateing of a tow hitch? What is the lift cap of two men? I now wish I had snaped a pic of me towing the trailer w/ camaro... oh, and I once saw a 79-81 corvette towing a tear drop trailer with ease - kodak moment.

  • @Phantasmos

Big deal about someone pulling a trailer. Doesn't mean anything in the real world.

two man can lift more than 1000lbs, doesn't mean anything about the characteristics of the trailer, where the load is at, the suspension of the towing vehicle, the height of the hitch.

  • @taledarkside, well in that case the laws of physics are out the window.

  • @taledarkside, & by looking at right front tire, I can see the jeep had a suspension modification - what type - I don't know. Driver error period - IMHO....

  • @Phantasmos

The driver could have put suspension lift blocks in the rear which will alter the design of the suspension.

  • @taledarkside, if that is all he did, then, again, its owner error. Mine has a 2 in modified suspension done over a 6 mo period due to $. When done, it was done properly, including wheels/tires rated at load range c for my type of driving. I have seen some serious off roaders do things I would never do, as my jeep was not built w/ that in mind.

  • @Phantasmos

So do you see a differce between drive error, and a vehicle that isn't capable of towing?

  • @taledarkside any vehicle can tow, how that weight is distributed and what the max load is - bare with me, let me see if I can upload some pics of my bumper mods... beyond standard loads - yet I have never exceeded max load of suspension at pivot/hook up point.

  • @Phantasmos

you don't have to show me anything. Not all vehicles can tow. you cant pull 15,000lbs with a jeep, even if two guys can move the trailer by hand.

  • @taledarkside, then I suggest you look at some videos of some wranglers towing off road trailers and there are some I would Not consider towing as I know my suspension was not modified for that kinf of towing, particulary some of those trails off roaders are taking. I have seen motorcycles towing 1200 capacity tlr w/ ease & the trailer I towed was a uhaul car hauler @ 4500 lbs w/ the 79 camaro. Thats all I can and other than that accident was human error.

  • @Phantasmos

it isn't about what you can pull. I've seen a few people pull a jumbo jet. A motorcycle doesn't have the brakes to handle a 1200lb load let a lone having a 300lb fat chick on the back of it.

you should go back to school if you think if a vehicle can pull a trailer, then its safe.

  • @taledarkside, read some of the posts by Jeep owners. Trust me, that trailer easily moved by "untrained men - look at their lifting methods, obviously untrained in recovery of vehicles", I can guarranty I can tow that trailer easily. Its all about the suspension..

However, you are absolutely right, I need to go back to school. Again, accidents don't happen, they are caused, human error, I know.. Have a nice day! I am going back to school. Cargo Loss/LockoutTagout retraining..

  • @Phantasmos

human error isn't defective equipment. so yes, please go back to school.

  • @taledarkside, Please do not ever drive a jeep or any other short wheeled vehicle. Defective Equipment is when the human mind fails to comprehend the limits of said equipment - such as this driver. Accidents are caused, they don't happen. Please read other posts. Driver Error causes equipment failure.. Read a Manual much?

  • @Phantasmos

So worn out shocks and springs are because of drive error? you should go back to school.

I don't drive jeep wranglers, they are lame after all the poseurs own them.

  • @taledarkside, thats called Owner Error - Read manuals lately.

    Ever heard of Preventive Maintianance?

Again, Accidents don't happen, they are caused!

  • @Phantasmos

Read an engineering book lately? I doubt it. Read a engineering suspensin book lately? i doubt it.

you should learn the word accidents. Because it is used in the court of law.

  • @taledarkside - RLOL

  • @taledarkside, Oh and let me remind you there are brake systems for trailers of all sizes. Lets see, you got hydraulic, air and yes, electrical. The Uhaul I towed had an electrical brake and I had an electrical brake controler set to where the trailer braked a split second before the jeep - to prevent jack knife yet at the same time increase a wheel lock in an emergency, hence I stayed @ 55.. commons sense my friend.

  • You have to be some kind of idiot to try and call a Toyota as Jeep, I have been driving Jeeps for over 25 years and have towed some impressive loads behind mine, everything from loaded hay wagons on the farm to hauling a John Deere 350 crawler on a tandem trailer, and most recently a 700 mile move with a fully packed tandem U-Haul and never have had a problem. Most of the time it's not the vehicle, but the nut behind the wheel that is to blame.

  • Not a jeep, but that trailer if far from 5000lbs.! I have a 2011 Keystone passport 24ft. Travel trailer with a dry weight of 3700lbs I couldn't move mine like that. 2 people could move that trailer! Also I doubt the ability to tow it is because its a FJ40 but more that it's short wheel base!

  • You all missed it, can you say "Land Cruiser"? It's not a Jeep people.

  • umm, that looks like driver's error. I'm not a chrysler vehicle fan, but Jeeps are known to haul trailers like these on and OFF road. The guy physically pulling the trailer to the tow truck indicates that the trailer was light enough for it to be towed by the Jeep. Who says you need a V8 to tow that stuff? We haul a chord of wood home, 70mph, in a Nissan Hardbody equipped with a 4-cyl and it's still alright to this day.

  • jeep beep cheap no haul

  • @badmoonryzn U MAD?

  • @Imobeous Am I mad? Naaa, just having some fun.

  • @badmoonryzn You are the biggest fool on Youtube, congratulations!

Completely incapable of reason, and intellect even if it's just a google search away...

The CJ, YJ, TJ and JK are all part of the Wrangler family. Their relative tow capacity is common knowledge and available in Jeep owners manuals and forums worldwide.

As much as you talk about them, you must really love dicks in your mouth.

Go pull a 5,000 lb load in your CJ at 55 mph, slam on the brakes and kill yourself.

    Fucking Idiot.

  • @firehammerbranc How long have you been sucking dicks for a living? Morons like you who do nothing but troll YouTube thinking they have a fucking clue about what they are talking about crack me up. You go back to your corner and get back to sucking cocks because that is all you are capable of doing. I suppose the 105 inch wheel based K5 Blazer is to short to use too, you fucking noob. Do the world a favor and work on retroactive abortion. We don't need any more street corner cock suckers.

  • @firehammerbranc

The CJ family of Jeeps are NOT Wranglers, FYI. They didn't start branding them Wranglers until the YJ model. Before that, even on TV ads, radio, etc.... they were marketed as CJs. They make LOOK similar to Wranglers, but they simply aren't. And i'm not trying to argue or anything, but you are wrong about that one little detail.

  • real tj with stiff shocks would pull farrrrr better than cj

  • How enthralling...........not

  • That's not a jeep. that's a Toyota FJ40.

  • You also aren't supposed to drive a wrecker around with a J hook bridle flapping around loose on your bed,it can come flying off and kill some one.

  • you just filmed yourself walking around talking...?? WTF ?? all of a sudden it's on the flat bed and your doing more walking.. stupid video man

  • How many of the people who are saying a jeep can't tow have never even driven one. That is like saying a semi can't tow a 54 foot trailer. There are way more two axle semi trucks towing doubles out there than carter has pills. Any rig can tow a trailer if the operator knows how to load the trailer correctly and then two the thing properly. Most of the time when you see a towed rig in trouble it is because someone did not have a clue and drove just like they would without a trailer.

  • @badmoonryzn Have you driven one? They have a rating of only 2,000lbs because of the short wheel base. As a result they are very unsafe to pull a load with. U-Haul won't even rent you a trailer unless you have a hardtop.

  • @BrettHoustonTube Yes, I owned two of them. I pulled my trailers without problem. The wheel base has nothing to do with tow rating. It is the hitch that rate the tow. Class 1 2000 lb, class II 3500 lb, Class III 5000 lb and the class 4 10,000 lb. All of my rigs were fitted with class 4 receivers. I used anti sway devices and brakes on my trailers. I loaded the trailers to keep the tongue weight right (500lb) They get to swaying with too much weight on the hitch and too little on the steering.

  • @badmoonryzn The short wheel base causes Wranglers front ends to raise off the ground when breaking suddenly which is why their tow rating is so low. Research it if you don't believe me, there are numerous accounts to choose from. Also their brakes are not able to stop much of anything anything over that weight rating.

The hitch ratings only apply in cases of vehicles that have the capacity.

You can't put a class 4 hitch on a 4 cyl Honda and expect to pull a 10,000 lb trailer.

  • @BrettHoustonTube Don't be a dick with the Honda shit. My CJ had 4 wheel disk brakes a 320hp V8 104" WB and weighed two tons. A Chevy K5 Blazer's 5400 lbs wheel base 105" and a full sized pickup 115" Only a newbe would load it where it would lift the ffrfdront end under braking. What do you think the hitch weight restrictions and trailer brakes are for? Do you have any idea how many tow vehicles have WB around 105"? The majority of problems are from people who don't set up the trailer brakes.

  • @badmoonryzn Well don't be a dumbass, the Honda reference was an example showing a tow hitch rating has nothing to do with the vehicle tow capacity.

  • @badmoonryzn Do some research before you make a fool of yourself for all the world to see.

Here, let me spoon feed you some to get you started.

1.History * The Jeep Wrangler has the towing capacity to haul up to and no more than 2,000 lbs, due to the fact that a wrangler towing more than 2,000 lbs, forced to brake suddenly, can't avoid having its two front tires lift off the ground.

  • 2.The longer the vehicle, the more difficult it is for the force of the object being towed to overwhelm the counter-force of the front end's attempt to remain in place.

  • @BrettHoustonTube You are such a stupid fuck it hurts. You see some idiot talking heads story and thinks its gospel. You have never towed anything in your life and it shows. I have over 1.5 million miles of accident free towing with trailers from 5 feet to 70 feet with weights up to 140K. You yap all you want but it is the idiots like you who try to tow something without brains enough to set up the tow rig correctly. You still have no fucking clue what you are talking about.

  • @badmoonryzn I feel like I am arguing that the world is round, there is so much evidence to prove this it's astounding.

You don't know your @#$% from your little finger.

You certainly don't know me. I have decades of towing experience that started with working on a farm as a kid driving big rigs and pulling every type of trailer with all types of vehicles.

Now go play with someone else, I am done with you. You are ignorant of known facts and incapable of learning.

  • @BrettHoustonTube If you had one active brain cell you would post your proof like I ask. You keep changing the game to cover your fuck up. Dogshit like you can't provide a single fact without posting a bunch of pointless emotional bull shit. You are a pussy who can't handle being wrong. You have not posted the Fed and state towing regs. So Fuck you you useless brain dead mother fucking asshole baby. y67u

  • @BrettHoustonTube You don't even know what causes the tow rigs front end to lift. You keep changing your story on rigs. First it was a CJ and then a Wrangler. Just what the fuck do you think is necessary to tow a 1500 lb travel trailer, a semi? All you do is yap without anything to back it up. Prove it with something other than your dribble. Show the Fed and state towing regulations on the CJ and Wrangler and put me in my place. Use the real data from the people who know. Shit, I know you wont.

  • @badmoonryzn Read the post I pasted info in there dumbass. You can't post links on youtube or I would post plenty. It's in the Jeep owners manual, it's on all the wrangler forums and other sites, call Jeep yourself, there's so much information it's amazing to me that you are so damn ignorant of this. There are also plenty of accounts of accidents that have happened to research. There is a reason behind this requirement, people have been injured and killed as a result.

  • @badmoonryzn btw ignotard, A CJ IS a Wrangler, as is a YJ, TJ, and a JK. You don't know the first thing about Jeeps.

Do a search yourself, I already know this subject quite well. Education won't hurt you none. Ignorance will though...

  • @BrettHoustonTube I see my CJ 5 and 6 have magically turning into a fucking Wrangler?. LOL Never in my life have i seen such a fucking dumb shit. You have still failed to answer my two questions dog shit because you can't. Now that you have magically made my CJs turn into something else I see how you do things. You just dream shit up and say the first thing that comes to your mind. A fucking CJ is a Wrangler, yea, so is my Toyota. It's a Wrangler too. Hey how about my Suburban? Is it one too?

  • @badmoonryzn Everyone knows this but you apparently. You talk like a fucking 3 year old with brain damage. Dude, sign off and get a life already you little pricktart.

  • @firehammerbranc You stupid moron, there is nothing in the world I enjoy more than seeing an idiot like you gas bag. Since your so good at Google maybe you might use it your self idiot. Try looking up CJ 7 and a CJ 10 dipshit. The CJs ended production in 87 and 88 is when the Wrangler started production you stupid fuck. Only a complete moron would call a CJ a Wrangler. I'll bet you tell your fat ugly wife that thing stuck up her ass is eight inches you useless fucking pile of dog shit.

  • @firehammerbranc Oh by the way monkey dung, thanks for the personal email. I wonder if you have ever owned a Jeep. You jump in flap your gums without engaging your brain. Do you think the only Jeep CJs built are the 80+ inch CJ 5s. As far as the Wranglers and CJ series I at least know the difference between the two. This started with me asking two questions. What causes the most towing crashes? and what is on the haul-back in the video smart guy.

  • @badmoonryzn Aint no FREAKING way a Jeep wrangler is going to pull 5000 lb. You are just gonna destroy the transmission. I dont give a crap about the hitch class. BrettHoustonTube is completely right in this argument. You think you know more than the company does?? Oh ya i forgot, you spend hundreds of hours testing these jeep to see how much they could pull. NO, you didnt. Oh well i dont even care, you are just gonna destroy the thing pulling more than 3500 lb. And thats with a JKU

  • @RoadRashRiver You cum drunk fucking asshole. FUCK YOU, your mother, father, kids and anyone near you at this moment. If you would pull your head out of your ass far enough to read what I said you might, and I mean might fucking see what I said. I never said a fucking Wrangler you idiot mother fucking pussy. Learn how to fucking read before you open you cum hole. You are nothing but a dead fucking cum hole. Stupid mother fuckers who can't read should never open their mouths.

  • @RoadRashRiver

Wrangler i 100% agree, plus they dnt have the wheel base to pull anything really big.. You want to tow something get a pickup, or at least a Grand Cherokee V8 with a better transmission.

  • @RoadRashRiver A jeep wrangler could, if it was the hard top, had a V6 or a V8 (Quite common nowadays) and maybe some extra weight (4 passengers maybe? lol) it could do it. You just have to makes the physics a little more fair :D

  • @RoadRashRiver with the proper engine/tranny/rear end combo, you could pull 5000lbs. i agree with you, though, you cant do it with a stock setup

  • What Jeep? I did not see a Jeep in your video.

  • Those jeeps aren't ideal for towing at high speeds. My guess is Trailer Sway. Makes the most sense.

  • @halflife103 You never know.... It's a light trailer which means it could have bounced off a bump or pothole. Old technology yields old results.

Shit happens. But i believe the trailer was probably so light that it bounced off a bump and began to sway.

  • Old toyota Landcruiser.

  • Electronic esp with trailer brakes, problem avoided, no brakes on trailer= this

  • Wheelbase, wind, traffic, no stabilizer... many reasons why this could have happened. That's a small lightweight trailer. But trailering isn't just about weight.

  • This can happen to any vehicle towing a trailer, not just Jeeps, but I guess you're not smart enough to realize that.

  • accidents happen you have no idea what happened

  • A lot of problems stem from the fact that people stow every thing away in the lockers high in the camper and do not spread the load evenly , everything should be placed over the axles so all the weight is in the centre and low , have towed for many years and have not had a problem yet..

  • thats a fucking landcruiser, an fj40 landcruiser, not a jeep.

  • right rear rim and tire is missing when the jeep is loaded watch close the user who added this video did not say that in the headline

  • cant help but notice that hes listening to porn on the radio

  • Jeeps have extremely narrow wheelbases with a high center of gravity. They're bad enough for taking corners as it is. Pulling a trailer with a Jeep like that does carry a bit of risk.

  • noo its a jeep just the person cant drive.... we need real people to drive not dumb people!!!!

  • Mute damn you!

  • roy's towing, for all your most boring video needs.

  • THAT'S A TOYOTA

  • If 2 guys can pull that thing then a prius can even tow that. The problem was obviously not the camper.

  • who knows what caused it

  • its called driving exspierince, and the guy obviously knew he was a moron when he said, thats not whati wanted tobe taped for

  • It's not a Jeep Wrangler, it is a Toyota FJ40 (not an FJ Cruiser, Fj40 is not the same as and FJ Cruiser, google FJ40 and you'll see what I mean).

As for what "towing" can be handled by any particular vehicle, it's not just engine power but transmission, suspension and just plain physics. A short wheel base is the enemy, w/out the proper anti-sway and Weight Distribution hitch/suspension helper spring/air lift bags, once the trailer starts to sway, it's a case of the tail wagging the dog.

  • It's a simple common sense problem. Short wheel base + short trailer = easy swaying and loss of control. Enough said!

  • I drove an 88 cherokee which hauled a 22' airstream, loaded to the brink with foodservice equipment and supplies. Easily weighs 4500 lbs.

This jeep serviced the company in such fashion for thousands of miles.

    Jeeps can tow.

  • Obviously it was a crash, if the truck couldnt handle it, he wouldnt have gotten it on the freeway, and hes facing the opposite direction. I own two Toyota FJ40s and they both are stronger than jeeps. Jeeps suck compared to FJ40s

  • Was this guy driving again? lol

    watch?v=8zwKIW8Ypts

  • maybe not at all related to this vid, but towing with a short wheelbase like a jeep or an fj is great for maneuverability and backing up- stuff like that. It's like having an aircraft tug. But the story changes on the highway. the short wheelbase makes it less stable, the trailer can pull the vehicle around much easiier than on a longer wheelbase vehicle.

  • That my friends is a fj40 Landcruiser plain and simple. It should be able to handle that little trailer.

  • @chadsteele1 FJ40 are the best

  • I pul my 2500 pound ski boat with my 4.0 jeep just fine. This is just another cases of driver error. But of course everybody has to blame the vehicle for reasons that don't make sense. I even have a hitch on my damn lawn tractor to move trailers and boats around in the yard and not once have I had a problem. You can tow anything if you are not a retard

  • @chorstma44 But in an emergency ANY jeep or short wheelbase vehicle will lose control VERY easily. Its just simple physics. High center of gravity, short wheelbase, and instant spin out. Ive owned a jeep wrangler also. When nothing goes wrong, its true, but try doing any quick maneuvers at any real speed and see what happens.

  • Jeeps are not for Towing ??? I don't think so, you are not for towing

  • Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser

  • @kcam04 FJ rock man

  • To all you "That's not a Jeep" people, get your crap straight, it's a Jeep. Period.

There definitely was something else to this accident though, a Jeep should've easily handled that. Judging by the looks on the flatbed, looks like he lost the right-rear tire or similar. Maybe because of the impact, maybe the cause, we'll never know I suppose.

  • @Gizmokid2005 You need to get your crap straight! thats definitly a toyota fj 40. i own two and have owned five different fj 40s and thats definitly a fj40.

  • The most common problem is people to not put enough tongue weight in their trailers and they start to sway on them.

  • @speederbrad95 A. That's not a Jeep. and B. Your statement is completely irrelevant. I have taken over a dozen driving courses through my job and am considered to be a very good driver. I drive a lifted Jeep Xj daily. I've seen many more "Bad drivers" in minivans and small sedans than I have in Jeeps.

  • That's not a Jeep. A Jeep would have handled that just fine.

  • @X9xATIx7X it is a jeep so it's a bad driver

  • @X9xATIx7X yeah, def not a jeep

  • what is he listening to!!!!

  • That Jeep should have had zero trouble handling that! Ive towed way more with both of my Jeeps and never had a issue. Guessing it was driver error or someone cut him off and th trailer swayed or somthing. OIIIIIIO

  • I give this a double double star...what are you listening to buddy?

  • running a 4cyl on that toyota?

  • That FJ40 should have easily handled that little fiberglass camper. I'm guessing there is more to this accident...did someone cut him off? Blow a tire? Just a bad driver?

  • @cumminsdurango You can see the right rear tire is not there. thats probably why this happened.

  • @cumminsdurango you can clearly see the right rear of the jeep or whatever with a missing wheel when its on the bed of the truck

  • @cumminsdurango Vehicles with a long wheelbase are far safer for towing. Jeeps have a wheelbase approximately eleven inches long (not exactly but close enough) so, for example, a Suburban would be far safer.

  • @nerdlydood Yes, longer wheelbases are best for towing, but that is a fairly heavy FJ40 pulling a tiny fiberglass camper that weighs 800-1000 lbs. Notice the guys pulling it around by hand? There is more to this than just the wheelbase. 24scrapman pointed out the wheel was off...its more likely that caused this accident.

  • @cumminsdurango That would tend to cause some degree of instability...

  • @nerdlydood I just looked it up, and an FJ40 is rated to tow up to 3000 lbs, so pulling a 1000 fiberglass camper is nothing.

  • obviously not jeep

  • Toyota FJ pulling a camper? What in the world?

  • @ManheimDiesel naw, it's a jeep. lol. nice try.

  • @johnher1982 nope, I watched again. From 2:05-2:12 it is obviously a nice looking Toyota FJ40, not a Jeep.

  • @ManheimDiesel lol....i guess you know your 40's huh? lol.
