  • epic!

  • This looks like it was directed by Aronofsky... Absolutely genius. Can't believe this was 20 years ago... Brilliance is timeless.

  • mean girls. <3

  • Im scared now.

  • wtf is this?

  • Mean girls

  • @hijousa no mean girls, this is the original version, not the on and on remix.

  • @AssMaster0069 "Radiccio EP" - CD2 Edit

  • I remember MTV2 used to show a 9-minute version of this video, back in the long ago days when they actually showed music videos on there. The longer version doesn't look as mish-mashed as this version.

  • Thats Kirsty Hawkshaw in the vid! (the vocalist)

Is it just me or was electronica in the 90's sounding so much more advance than today? It's like we've forgotten everything about how to make good music that we learned over the past 50 years. Really makes me sad.

  • @soundseeker63 its sad and you know whos a good example who poorly uses sound synths and music these days look at bashees Justin Bieber and the rest as well as LMFAO

  • kleenex ad in japan ,80s

  • the meaning of the song is to show to live everyday and enjoy it everyday while you still got it

  • (peur) (rire) - (fear) (laugh)

  • very ill woman...

  • Such a great tune....fantastic, mesmorising, will always be one of the greats.

  • mean girls brought me here!

  • Hackers

  • Kind of reminds me of the movie Requiem for a Dream.

  • @samikalastaja Indeed

  • lets put it this way the change from the Taurus era to the Aquarius era...well lets just say that Poseidon didn't take it too well.

  • Hack the Planet!!!!!!

  • Absolutely love this track and that clip is totally crazy :D

  • This is why I don't do dishes...

  • The sample from Opus III (Kirsty Hawkshaw) "It's a fine day" reversed perhaps reverses the meaning of the song it comes from....

On their album that came out the year after the single (1993) they did another version "Halcyon and on and on" where they brought Opus III vocalist Kirsty Hawkshaw onboard to record more vocals.

I still prefer the original, might be due to all the good times and good memories associated with it tho :)

  • The "mom" in he video is Kirsty Hawkshaw, vocalist for Electronica artists like BT, Oakenfold, Orbital, Delerium, and Tiesto.

  • Track: Amazing

    Video: Twisted

    :)

  • I love this tune - I'm gonna dig out the cd and listen to it in the car whilst explaining to the missus that " it samples opus-3 fine day...." She'll care. :)

  • This video freaks the hell outta me

  • replace the "y" with an "i"= Halcion a drug, look it up says it all

  • Bought Orbital's Blue album 3 years ago. Never really cared for it, but this is really good!

  • i heared this song on mortal kombat and scary movie......

  • THUMBS UP-If you think of Mortal Kombat.

The part when Lui Kang finally defeats Shang Tsung and after that the spiral soars to the sky and the angles fly to the sky and then Chan(Lui's brother) comes out.

    Chan-"I'd knew you'd come"

    Lui-"Chan!"

Chan-"One day, we will be reunited, but until then my spirit will always be with you. Go in Peace my brother"

    Cue the music (:

  • @DArceo15 I LOVED that part of the movie. But the song in that scene is actually Halcyon On+On.

  • @kunoichi495 what a fuckin tune

  • @kunoichi495 what a fuckin tune

the original video as well respect uploader

  • Is this the actual video for this song? If so, I never even knew such one existed. This version is a bit different than the 1991 version as well

  • I love seeing the little kid dancing on the table. Lol. This is such a trippy video. Yet, such an amazing song.

  • yeah, thats the chick from opus 3, its a fine day

  • Great video!

    ¡Gran video!

  • is this drug similar to acid or shrooms?

  • @AlyssaSaysYo You're retarded.

  • @dreamgt Why is Alyssa retarded? Just ignorant about drug culture it seems. Which would make you what? A junkie because you know about every drug OTC or otherwise? Reply to show more of your incredible cognitive powers!

  • @ketchupkenny THANKS DUDE! :)

  • @dreamgt haha actually i have a superior IQ, bitch.

  • She needs to lay off the Cillit Bang...

    Great song.

  • Mortal Kombat ...

  • song is older than 1999

  • Thanx for posting this supergreat track!

  • 2.18 ;DDDD

  • wow!! this song is amazing!

  • weird video

  • i still don't fully understand this vid..someone please explain it to me

  • @AlyssaSaysYo the Hartnolls, two brothers, are Orbital.their mother used a prescription drugcalled Halcyon. the track is 'about' this. the video is shot in the Hartnoll's home. you see pictures of them as children in front of the sink. you see an adult version of them communicating with their mother through the dishwater the actress playing their mother is in fact the girl who sang the vocals in Opus III's - Fine Day, which are the vocals Orbital sampled for the track.

  • @a147pro That is so fucking cool!

  • @AlyssaSaysYo more importantly, without using a single word they managed to better convey the sense of the effect of a drug, and the melancholic association they must have had with something that made their mother happy in this way, probably better than any lyricist would have. I don't know if you've ever taken a pain killer with a hangover, but the feeling of detatchment that results is well captured by this track. quite an achievement really.

  • Nice track!

  • And this is why you should never do the washing-up while on acid...

  • this is perfectly why i loved this song in mortal kombat

  • i am back in my youth

  • brings back some good memories

  • is that a sample for Yes' "Leave It" half way through? nice.

  • thanks for uploading!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this song so much!

  • glastonbury '95 or somethin - main stage

  • This song was a good song, dont get me wrong. I think the baby was kinda weird, he looked like 5 year old in diapers, and isnt ths shit from mortal kombat

  • this is so.. awkward

  • I woke up to this video VERY early this morning and I was like "WTF is going on? Am I still dreaming?" :P

  • The dancing kid on the table reminds me of "Out of Space" from The Prodigy (which is very different, but nonetheless also great)

  • this tune was dedicated to the Hartnolls' mother, who was addicted to the tranquiliser Halcion (Triazolam) for many years. it's a fairly personal subject for them to touch on, and needless to say this video reflects that. i'm guess that the woman in this is supposed to be their mother, and the picture by the sink is of them as boys.

  • This video is so awesome. The woman in the video is also the one who did the vocals for this and the orginal "its a fine day".

  • @lyndsaydavid

Yes, it's Kirsty Hawkshaw from Opus III. She's 41 now... :-)

  • epic

  • Poor Mrs. Hartnoll :(

  • I love how you construed the description on this music video :p

    Its a great song! :)

  • What a piece of video

  • this vid was uploaded on my birthday :D

  • @saint1997 מזל תוב אחי!~!!!

  • WTF?

  • yeah how does some musics make you high?

  • itz very böh... the song is fine but the clip :S öhhh...

  • such so deep and emotional.... true genius! ORBITAL respect!

what's kind of music it is??!? ambient?

samples are from opus III "it's a fine day" that know.

  • @5hadow20 Dance.... 1 name 1 love

  • @5hadow20 breakbeat/leftfield

  • @5hadow20

You can call it a lot of things. Ambient Techno is a popular one (don't really like the term "techno" though). Ambient breakbeat / electronica / IDM etc. Maybe even ambient house????

  • @fimpson I don't like the term techno either because its like just saying that its electronic music. More like a term for the methods of production rather than a genre. When people started making their own underground music community in Detroit with drum machines and samples they called it techno. But this was at a time when technology was letting people do more in their own home. So it was something bran new in that sense. Think of chiptune music, most people don't make them on chips anymore.

  • @TekLok

Exactly. Techno, it seems, is a term used by the masses when refering to mainstream trance/ house etc which is the only electronic music they hear. i.e. When a Jas Derulo fan listens to Tiesto or David Guetta they usually refer to it as "Techno" (from what I've observed). It makes me sick.

  • I dont know about the video but i love the track

  • Call me nitpicky but I don't think the vocals were "strong" enough

  • This song is beautiful in every sense of the word.

The video kind of ruins it, but still.

  • God this song is brilliant. It makes me fly! The video is awesome aswell, at first I didn't notice it was really about halcion drug.Too bad this version of the video doesn't include her dancing, it's really the best part for me.

  • this video is very tragic

  • one of my favorites from back in the day. now i understand why i would have tears running down my face while i danced to it!

  • Is this the offical video?!

It does not match the song at all

  • Yes it is. The song about their mother who was addicted to the sedative Halcion. I believe the lady is supposed to be her.

  • Well that certainly explains why this song always gave me a far feeling of depression like Radiohead.

  • @scastle82 it makes you hallucinate?

  • The woman in the viseo is played by Kirsty Hawkshaw? Looks like her.

  • Yes that's Kirsty, the singing is a sample of "Fine Day" from when she was in Opus III

  • did you know it was originally from an acapella by Jane called fine day?

  • clearly you do not feel the music it is solemn!

  • goosefuckinbumps all i can say

  • Mushy's anyone?

  • its so fuckin depressive

  • The vocal Oooo-oooh thats starts at 1.46 is alot like my greeting call when i pop round me Grans for a brew. And she always giz me a cooo eee back but she aint as fit as her in vid washing up the pots.

  • i think ooniss is a lot sexier, shes always got sumin frozen, like apple sos to give away.

  • O_O Woa thanks for the video, been looking for it for a while.

  • never knew the dishes could be so much fun if you were mashed of your face listening to this tune lol

    love orbital

  • this song was on a lot of films i love it

  • great song, halcyon and on and on is way better though.

  • when was it made?

  • 1993. It appeared on the Halcyon 7" single in the US.
