I thought my dog might have bloat, but it's been a few weeks, maybe over a month, and from what I've read online, it's supposed to be a fast killer. She's been breathing a little heavy, but doesn't have many of the symptoms; only being big and breathing heavily. I'm taking her to the vet as soon as I can get a ride. Not sure what breed she is, we think terrier is in her, but I'm hoping it's something we can take care of at home, because money's really tight right now.

Our sweet little shepherd mix, Casey, died yesterday. She was 19 yrs. old, and I always expected her to die peacefully in her sleep. I knew about bloat, but thought that only the large & giant breeds were susceptible. Although Casey was a GS mix, she was only 37 pounds. I was later told that this can happen to ANY dog, ANY size,.ANY age. Sad.

I'm sorry about your loss. A lot of the illnesses and deaths in pets over the last few years are surely tied to contaminated food that will cause gastric problems in addition to kidney failure.
The Chinese have added ground up plastic (toxic waste with melamine) to soy, wheat, rice, milk etc. products that are used as ingredients in food and pet food and have been for years unknowingly to us.

hey my chihuahua dog died on febraury it was so sad to me because i love that dog her name was mimi she was 4 years old when she died then my dad buy me a black shar pei but she get lost. then the boy friend of my sister gave a shanuzer to my sister and we have him here on the house but my dad buy me a collie shetland tehre are so cute...!! but i never ever going to forget my chihuahua mimi and my black shar pei boo-boo.

Bloat can kill in a matter of an hour, please learn of the "home" emergency bloat kit you can keep on hand, in case this should happen to your dog. It could save his/her life or give them the time needed to get them to a vet for proper care!!!

If you own a deep chested dog such as a Labrador Retriever, German Sheppard, Collie Doberman Pinscher, Akita or Great Dane you must be made aware of Gastric Torsion or commonly referred to as Bloat.
Bloat is caused by too much gas or fluid in the stomach.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My dog was euthanized August 1st due to torsion. She was 15 years old. I miss her every minute of every day........
