  • hey exo you think i could do this but run two off of one side like a distribution block?...would i need a bigger fuse?

  • where do you purchase all the o gauge accessories??? thanks

  • @themexicanmule - Sonic Electronix

  • @EXOcontralto oh my word you rhymed ....kinda

  • @mst3ksanta Lol, yezzer :)

  • thanks mang save me a couple bucks FOR MORE BASS!!!!!!!!

  • @blindsidex - :)

  • cool shit dude

  • @blurplemango - Thanks bro! :)

  • what aload of FUCKING CRAP

  • @krazywog - Thanks mang. I can really tell you put a lot of thought into that comment :)

  • I'm so doing this tomorrow, it should save me some money for the time being. Thanks exo

  • @TypeRbassHead - No prob mang!

  • thanks a lot for this video exo. They wanted 75 bucks for a fuse holder for my 150 amp fuse. Definitely saved some cash here.

  • @ridektms - HOLY SHIT! - Good going man! Save that dough

  • @EXOcontralto Such a man. Glad you share the wealth of knowledge you have! keep the videos coming!

  • @Kcnoel94 - Thanks mang

  • hey man could u make a distribution block?

  • @CONCUSSION187 - Pretty much the same thing without the fuse, you can plug lots of terminals onto those bolts

  • his sound is more like ellis from L4D2 XD

    btw nice vid man

  • @badxmax - LOL, thanks mang

  • Hey EXO, do you think circut breakers would be cheaper/easier?

  • @msg4lifesucka - Sure, but they don't go up as high in amp ratings.

  • @EXOcontralto True true

  • wait.. why are you using a 150amp fuse?

  • @joeyjoeeeee - It's the only ANL I had laying around

  • @EXOcontralto no i mean like why a 150 amp? like whats the reasoning behind that cause i jus wanna kno, im new to car audio sooo yeah

  • @joeyjoeeeee - I don't really know what you mean - There's no reason why i used a 150amp, it could have been a 50amp and still conveyed the same principles.

  • i love the way your saying motivation :)

  • You are king !! :D

  • what brand curling iron do you use?

  • @packfan88 - Your Mom's

  • and if you want to make it weatherproof you could put it inside of one of the gray plastic weatherproof junction boxes you can get in the electrical section in the hardware store... just drill the holes to correct size of the wire and maybe put a rubber grommet?

  • wood conducts electricity so how does this work ???????

  • @mrDJSCREECHstep

you don't need to worry about wood conducting electricity until you are in the thousands of volts

  • UGh....#0ga. cable would call for a 350a fuse, would it not?

  • i like the way you made the fuse block but i need to put 5 sets of lights on my truck can you give me some pointers on how to make somthing like that but just a little smaller or is just easyer to just by one

  • i would not use wood for this, i made a fuseholder for a serious dc power supply and i used UMPE plastic and threaded studs into the plastic, then i sealed the thing inside a waterproof box to prevent someone touching it.

  • Cool

  • Neat trick, but you could use American standard bolts too if yah want.:P

As for fuses and wattage. It's amount of watts your amp uses divide by the amount of volts. So, for example, I have have a 660 watt amp, 660 divided by 12 volts is 55, however you might want to give yourself some room. So in my case I use a 50 watt fuse.

    It's simply volts/watts.;)

  • @ArtworkofaDemise nah you want to rate the inline fuse for the gauge of wire gauge your running to get the most power to the amps, the amps built in fuses protect the amp, inline fuse protects your car from you wire grounding out and blowing up your battery ;-)

  • @ArtworkofaDemise thats not necerally true the size of the wire has alot to do with it as well for example my amp has 6 runs of power input and it uses 2/0 cable and i use 300 amp fuse and my watts divided by volts isnt 300 its 583 so if i were to use 6 525 amp fuses or so then to much current/heat would pass through and possibly cause a fire that rule u put is more for the lower power amps

  • @ArtworkofaDemise No, it goes by the gauge of your wire not by the wattage of your amplifiers.

  • thats a badass fuse block!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey exo you ever tryed to make a power distrubor any idea if you could?

  • i have a alpine mrd m1005 amp hooked up, and 8 gauge running it, and the fuse block has a 80a fuse, but as i turned the volume up the fuse blew. not only did it blow, it broke the prongs, plus started to melt the fuse,

if i were to do the homeade fuse block would this prevent this issue?

  • @SAYHEMI1 hey bro, this isnt exact but you'll get the idea. lets say your fuse is a 60a....it will play up to around 600watts before it blows the fuse. An 80a fuse will blow at about 800watts and so on... Get yourself a 100a for your 1000 watt alpine (i believe that amp has four 25a fuses which = 100a)....i also recomend a run of 4ga power wire. If money is a problem hit the savage yard. Almost all BMW 5series & up from 95 to present have 00ga power wire stock

  • i'm not a pro but can't you skip the wood part and just screw the fuse to the power wire?

  • @bucis123 You could but there's an issue with the fuse just kinda hanging around in your car. All a fuse does is make a weak point in an electrical system, current in current out.

  • what is this for? how much are they?

  • Was bro. Nice vids. Q? My friend just finished wiring my car, i keep getting what sounds like a dentist drill whenever i hit the gas. Have u had this happen before?

  • @fallenangel0074 - Grounding issue for sure!

  • @fallenangel0074

he also forgot to mention not only can it be a ground issue

If your RCA cords are running with your powerline thats also WRONG. Your power wire could be sending out a currenty which the RCA is picking up. go look on crutchfield on how its supposed to be wired

  • @fallenangel0074

Make sure that your RCA cable isn't running down the same side of your car as your power cables.

Always separate your amp power cable from your RCA cables.

And as EXO said, make sure everything is properly grounded.

  • I have a question does the amps on a fuse matter or is it the higher the better I have a kicker KX800.2 and two 2ohm CVX 12'z with 4gauge power wire I bought as a set. know my fuse went out and no auto store has a spare the fuse it had said 5AG100A.

  • Hey Exo

Is there a difference with performance stainless steel or Zinc plated?

  • @DBazan5 - Corrosion prevention.

  • You need to use the butterfly hole-saw before the 5/8 bit because its hard to make the point of that hole saw stay centered in that hole......just in case anyone else was ghetto and inteligent to attempt this.

  • i just want to know if this is safe not shure so yeah haha comment back

  • looks like 3/8" to me, since the half inch spade bit you used was larger than the hole. lol you meant 3/8", i do believe.

  • @schrankm - I know, If you read comments back tomorebass4u, I already noted on that a long time ago. It was a mistake.

  • @schrankm i think he meant

    5/16 drill bit....

  • 3:25 clearly says in the car. but the video says in your house not in a car.

  • That's creative I like it. Thanks for the awesome vids

  • Not how I roll but very creative man

  • How do i make a fuse holder for the round fuses :(

  • @LeGeNdArYGTBuLL3T spend 3 dollars and buy one.

  • hey i was wondering if you know or some one know if a power acoustik 5500 watt 1 channel class D bamf series can handle a 1 12" orion hcca please please help me

    thanks..

  • I have a solution for your problem get rid of the Orion@turb0tach1

  • @powerseries210t2 ooooook thanks now can you shut the fuck up!!!!!!!!

  • @kuelee311 yes you need a fuse in the wire. And usually you want it about a foot from the battery

  • Hey i have a quesion for you.. Im gonna run a 400w amp on my 2 6x9's.. My amp has its own fuse.. Does the powercord need to have a fuse also? Can i just run a straight powercord to the amp? If not. how can i add a fuse to the powerwire? thanks man..

  • Interesting video, I enjoyed it.

  • This is amazing keep up the great vids man and fuck all those haters

  • your average ANL fuse holder costs around $10. i'm not sure its worth the time or effort to make something like that especially if its gonna take an hour or so to make it when you factor in goin to the hardware store, cuttin wood and drilling metal. it's a cool idea but not practical. takes about twenty mins to head to walmart or a local shop and just pick up an actual fuseholder and get back to your project. you are a very smart guy tho'.

  • dude this is the first video you have uploaded in at lest 5 month's

  • oh my word

  • You are not ugly and keep up the good work! Cool beans little man

  • Great video, two suggestions.

Drill the 5/8 countersink holes BEFORE the 1/4 inch holes for the bolts. The spade bit drills cleaner when the point is in solid wood rather than the 1/4 inch hole and it also makes a nice starter hole for the 1/4 inch drill.

You countersink the heads (prevents shorts) but the first nut on the fuse side should go tight to the wood to prevent the head form coming back out of the wood and touching something metal and shorting out. 2 nuts between wood and fuse.

  • someone get this guy a miter saw

  • I have been in the car audio game for numerous years now. I am by no means a professional; but I see no reason, unless its unsecured, why you wouldn't be able to use this in your car?

  • daammm i would never have tought about this.

    thank's i save my self 23bucks yeeeeee

  • Innovative! I would(if i had to) not put a nut between the fuse and the terminal connectors.... The metal bolts do not offer the best conductivity. Maybe if they were copper, that be ok to transfer electricity through em.

  • LOL! I just bought a ANL fuse holder for $18 at Pep Boys and that is a good price. They are getting cheap. I rather pay that then try to find someone with wood work tools and take time to make one if I even found someone with the tools. I got basic tools to put the fuse holder and battery and stuff. All that work just for scrap pieces sitting around. If you even have the scrap pieces sitting around.

  • good video keep them coming

  • thats gangster

  • this may sound like a dumb q but y would u need one of these

  • i would probably never use stuff liek this.... especially since i dont know wireing. But im sure someone found it to be usefull. Good job regardless, it was actually interesting.

  • @52srbin - I may be ugly, but at least I'm happy.

  • @EXOcontralto thats why they talk shit. Trying to take something from you

  • @EXOcontralto

    Hi mate,

I like your fuse block, and inspired by your example, will build one similar for my application.

One question though.....why didn't you use stainless steel, or brass screws and nuts??

Mild steel corrodes and rusts very quickly, especially in the humidity and extremes of temperature inside your car, and this will certainly affect the reliability and performance of your fused power....

    Just a thought.

  • @EXOcontralto You are NOT ugly bro... You are THE MAN!!!

  • @52srbin this coming from a guy who is to cowardly to show his own face on youtube?

  • do you need a fuse in between the amp and battery or can you run without? i have to wait a week just for a fuse and still want to bump. is that safe to do or should i just wait?

  • @ronbmx67 - Unless at comps, I would never bump without at least fusing my amps.... It's always a good idea, especially if you amp doesn't have on board fusing!

  • @EXOcontralto - how could i find out if it had the on board fuse? its a directed 2400w

  • @EXOcontralto mine has a fuse on board but u use inline fuse to be save

  • Well, you can get an anl fuseholder at the flea market for about $7 brand new....im sure it wont be of less quality than that one.....not even close to $40.

  • Exo is very clever :D

  • So ghetto. Gotta love it tho

  • i think ill buy one for 10 dollars

  • good job exo

  • @AcuraLegend1994 - Thanks man - It's not a something I'd ever really use in a Pro install, but for a little house amp set-up, why not make your own fuse blocks, right? :D

  • @EXOcontralto fuck man u could really use those if u make them like put time into it they could b nice.. u just gave me an idea haha im gonna make sumthing and u will have to check it out.. thanks exo.. for how much stuff ive magiverd together i never thought of a fuse block

  • hey exo where do you get all your terminals?

  • good info but cut back on the lady look. Kinda looks like bad drag. Were you born that way or did you get surgery? I've never seen a guy naturally look like that. Michael Jackson looked like that shortly after turning white, but his was surgical 100%. Good vid keep it up

  • good job

  • great video

  • would it be dumb to put fuses on each + and - on my second battery?????

  • would it be dumb to put a fuse on both + and - on a second battery???

  • he is gay

  • @domas1001 - Is that the best you can do?

    "He is gay"

    lol

  • @domas1001 lmfao stupid fuckin hatersss

  • Thats smart do u have any other stuff ????

  • this is sneeky. but wont look good in my retired show car. very creative though. thumbs up. love the beat to the vid too

  • sweet video, but you said drill a 5/8th's hole, the ream it out to a half inch? 5/8's is exactly 1/8 larger than a half inch.

  • that shit at a car audio plays in cali is like 50 bucks witht he fuse!

  • this dudes a fucking genius.. good work thats for sure one cob job that il deff use in the future its a good one at that

  • hey where did you order your MCR 200 amp High Output Alternator

  • Your a G for this one.

  • Very creative Exo, 5 *s like always, you're the man

I like how you makesimple stuff become something very useful, but I rather go to the swat meet & get one for 10$ lol

    thats just me

  • Over here in NZ they r bout $50

  • ohh yeaahh nice .. god job

  • Awesome idea, but its like $20 for a nice fuse holder so prob not worth all the effort...

  • Comment removed

  • there is no negative on fuses...

  • Sweet, check out my sub box

  • im impressed.

  • could this catch on fire?

now that i think about it my car is crappy

would not care one bit if it went up in flames

all i need is some marshmallows

  • @hmh269 lol

  • so can i make 1 then in the middle of the peice of wood drill a hole and screw it down to the car to make sure it dont move and short out?

  • Pretty ghetto but i love it! lol.

  • Also, the amount of money you're going to spend for a 150 ampere PSU won't make the price of a fuse block matter all that much.

  • dont they cost like 5 bucks!!

  • GhettoRiffic!!! This will be nice in a pinch.

  • I think minimum wage worker can make enough moeny to buy one of those shits faster than to make it.

  • Yes, When constructed correctly these fuse blocks are just as efficient as store bought units - It will not decrease power, it will only protect it from harming other devices.

However not ideal for professional installations, for those who just have a modest set-up, like a PSU ran - in-home system, it's simply a fun way to save 40 bucks :)

  • hey exo does this cause any loss of power im gonna be running 0 gauge and wondered if it would be the same power output as input, using one of these.

  • In the video you mentioned that you need 5/8" bolt and a 5/8" drill bit. I think you mean 3/8". just a minor detail but I know that you want to be as accurate as possible. SInce this will most likely be mounted under the hood for a primary wire, it would be best to use stainless hardware so it wont rust. Other than that, it was pretty informative. Keep up with the videos and keep on having fun

  • Thanks Man & Very true, I meant to type 3/8 bit -

However, This is definitely NOT IDEAL for professional in-car installations - Let alone under the hood, You know? This video is more targeted at those people in their bedrooms who use PSU's to power their amps, or for in-car installs where it would be granted without risk.

But Thanks For Commenting - it's a fun way to save 40 bucks :)

  • hahah what about covering the top side hahah

    nice shit though

  • throw a spring washer on each stud, it will help stop the nuts unscewing due to vibration

    or a nylok nut

  • dude doing it the cheap way is gonna couse a short

  • ive seen a video with someone using a car battery charger

  • hey is there a way to connect a car amplifier in a house without a car battery or the computer electricity supply thing? (i don't know what it's called). The amp is not that big it's like 200 watts.

  • yeah there is, your still gonna need to find a good grounding. You can take a for example.( cut the power cord off of a vacuum cleaner, or a nice big power cord, slice the end part to reveal wires, put those in your amp, and then plug the cord in. should work, but im also sure u might possibly set ur house on fire, that or blow ur amp up

  • I've tried that before but it didn't work. thanks any way for the ideas!

  • if you plug a cord from your wall to amp thats 110 volts your amp needs 12-about 16. use a battery charger just plug it in and run cable from the charger to the amp, thats just like a battery just make sure it has enough amps

  • ok. thanks

  • LOL nice dude do it works like a real one if it does man YOU JUST SAVED ME $15 BUCK's lol

  • @fastodie yes that works its quite simple.

  • iknow i did a few weeks ago its okay LOL

  • I want to see your distribution block!!

  • you did tha damn thang check out my vids

  • awesome

  • Did you have to tune your amps? if so how do u? plz respond

  • When going over 2000 watts - You need a multimeter and a oscilloscope for safe tuning

  • ok cool man

    Thanks

    nice videos

keep up the good work bro

    Thanks Dylan

  • Believe me you must make a site ;D

  • where can i get some of this "motivation" ye speaketh of?

  • Shaws :D

  • very cleaver you could even use pressure treated wood and put the whole fuse assemble in a short piece of pvc tubing and u got a water proof one. :)

  • thats the shit! no cash is the mother of invention! sick dude, sick!!

  • Congratulations! You Just Won Comment Of The Day! Thanks For Making Me Smile!

  • were do u buy thow kind of fuses

  • you can buy them at best buy

  • True, and thanks you jcq8819 , but usually Best Buy only stocks up to 100 amp fuses - So, it may be that you have to go to a audio shop to get bigger fuses.

  • And to think mine cost like 30 should have called up exo first damn im a fool lol nice bro

  • Nice dude. Wouldn't have ever thought of doing that myself.

  • it is what it looks like ha ha just playin . hey not bad for someone who does not have all the tools he needs.

  • U got some skills dude, keep it up :)

  • freakin awsome!

  • thanks now i dont have to pay for 1 :D i got all that stuff o.O now i can sell them 2

  • hehe nice!^^

  • Dude I want to see the AA SMD 18 hittin. When ya gonna have it going bro and what amps are ya gonna have running it?

  • cool

  • sick
