Sounds very Actually era to me, in many ways, though now I think yes it does fit in with the Introspective period. The vocal contains echoes of 'Heart' (The way Neil sings "Something happens to meeee" is very similar to how he sings "Would you bring me dowwwn" in this song melodically). In any case, I cannot bloody believe a song this beautiful has never been officially released. Most bands struggle to get a tune half this good, and start their LPs with it when they do!
This is from 1987-1988. The main synth pad sound is the Roland D50 (which I owned), and was introduced at that time. It's the light but complex sound throughout the track.
Bounce (Tennant / Lowe) Bounce Boun-Boun-Bounce Bounce Boun-Boun-Bounce Bounce Boun-Boun-Bounce Road to ruin Could you bring me down Would you be the one that turns upon me The one that I regret Tomorrow Or should I forget Tomorrow When you're up When You're down Baby, bounce When you're up When You're down Baby, bounce Did you need me Or will you bleed me dry Will you be the one that I look back upon From a prison cell with regret Tomorrow Or should I forget Tomorrow
Bounce is from the Introspective era. Introspective was originally supposed to be called Bounce after this very track (as documented in the sleevenotes of Introspective Further Listening 1988-1989)
Certainly sounds earlier than the VERY stuff. The bassline sound very similar to "I Get Excited, You Get Excited Too", so places it around the same time as Introspective, Actually etc..
You make a good point. The drum machine is very Introspective isn't it? Not only that, but they were going to call Introspective "Bounce". So, I'm tending to think you are correct.
sounds like deep house was an influence.....

Why didn't they release this ?? Very good song. It sounds like late 80's.

It's got a virtually identical cowbells on it as I Get Excited, You Get Excited Too (B-side to Heart) so this places it around 1987-88

The percussion is typical from "Alternative".
Just listen to the agogo bells in the background....
Makes me remember "A New Life".

Bounce was made in the "Introspective Area" That´s Correct!
Introspective Was going to be called: "Dogmatic" "Bounce" and "Yellow" Until Introspective was Decided

i thought it was from the INTROSPECTIVE recording sessions back in 1987 / 1988...
while it doesn't sounds like any of the VERY / RELENTLESS tracks [ 1992 / 1993 ] at all,
more like "DON JUAN" [b-side of "Left To My Own Devices" , 1988]
