I wonder how many songs I have listen too, concerts I have attended and David Letteman Show featured artists I have seen, that had Waddy Wachtel as the featured guitarist. The man is such a good guitar player. The Stevie Nicks solo shows where he took her sound with a band of such session hot shots that it just blew you away. Linda Rondstadt was the whold female solo movement in one banging body. The girl can flat out sing and can make a song covered by others hers alone.
Shame kids today don't have the perspective on how big Linda Ronstadt got in the mid to late 1970s. Just try to imagine who, at her hottest, was a true sex symbol from Southern California and at the same time, had vocal chops as good as anybody in the business at the time. Imagine Megan Fox and Adele in the same body. That's Linda Ronstadt in 1977.
@tdelacruz61 Thank you for acknowledging that. For us, in the mid 70s, we didn't really have a rock goddess to look up to. Prior to Linda, we had Janis Joplin and Grace Slick...both incredibly gifted singers, but not necessarily pretty girls. Linda took this to an entirely differently level. She rebukes this now...well into her 60s...but she rocked the place...and for that I will be eternally grateful!
The movie FM was an event for us rock fans...the kids today would not understand the movie..It was like a wake for Progressive FM stations...Kids there were stations that played great music album cuts, different genres and were the anti-corporate top 40 radio stations...Alas these stations had to change to sell more commercials...Linda was so hot, I love her version...the California West Coast sound with Waddy and the boys...Enjoy Kiddies!!!!
@1stSaintsFan I love this movie. My new countdown show celebrates radio from when it was enjoyable to listen to and it was partially inspired by the movie FM. For now its on a veetle channel but soon it'll move to WLLW in Geneva NY which is available to hear online as well. Sunday evenings coming soon!
gosh i remember listening to this when i was a child. my mom had the " simple dreams " album and when my dad would head to work, my mom put the vynle on and we would jam, i couldn't have been more than 1 1/2 - 2 ish, but this brings back alot of terrific memories. i love u mom always and forever ... u gave me my love for music and for that im forever grateful ! ROCK ON MS. RONSTADT ! here's hoping when her memoir drops she will tour again and i can get my chance to see her !
How can anyone not love Linda! She's everything a singer could hope to be!
I have done a cover of 'Someone to lay down beside me' Won't post it here as Linda is in a different class altogether but please have a listen if you have a few moments. x

@doctorwho00772 Yeah she was hot!!! Too bad she's a crazy, insane, extremely far left lunatic who gets her fat porker singin in Spanish ass booed off the stage!!! How the mighty can fall !!!
@johnnykov - Definitely a talented guy. Waddy was a staple with Linda Ronstadt for a while, too.. Played on many of her albums. A very talented performer.
This was the highlight of the movie. When I watched this about thirty years ago in the movie theater it was like being there. Anyway I've seen this once on TV since then. Why it isn't played more is beyond me. It was a good movie.
@AussiePegasus01 You and me both, pal, and we are about the same age. The problem is that the digital age has us in a seventies time warp. This cute singer that had us all dreaming when we were teens is now a senior citizen! Ain't that a bitch.
Linda in 1978, at the top of her game. That's about the best "Tumbling Dice" I've heard yet. Too bad we didn't get the whole "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", that's what I came to hear.
My question is and has been HOW COME SHE IS NOT IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!!!!!

Only Carrie can sing with her. Both have amazing pipes!

Ten times better than Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, and Britney Spears. This is how a REAL woman sings!
Just listen to those pipes that blow the roof off at 3:03!!

@kristam67 Waddy Wachtel, he is probably the most sought after session and touring guitarist in the business...
