  • Nice assortment. What's your dosing schedule?

  • Wow! What a nice tank! How is your star fish doing? I have a 14G Biocube and want to add one!

  • How are those in terms of ambient noise and heat? By noise I mean the sound of the machinery.

  • whats the on off switch in the canopy?

  • Beautiful tank!!!

  • Are you using a protein skimmer

  • This is only after a month? I talked with a guy at the local fish store today and he said it would be a long time before you can even put corals in let alone let it grow out like that. How did you get it so pretty is such a short amount of time?

  • hey I was just wondering, how do you feed your corals? If somebody know, please reply me in this post.

  • Hi there I'm thinking of getting a nano cube just like yours and i was wondering what else would you need to buy to help maintain it

  • Did you "add in" water sounds or is this thing loud as hell??? Sounds like a bath tub splashing around. I would tolerate that for 3 seconds.

  • Your fish look very happy

  • really nice i thinking of geting one like yours

  • Hey guys, I am just looking for some advice. I have always kept Reptiles and I am very good at it, But I have always really wanted a Marine tank. They just amaze me and I can watch for hours but they have put me off in the past mainly because they seem very hard to keep and maintain. Is there any tanks you can buy that come basically with ALL equipment built in, so in theory everything is already set up, and made allot easer for you, I would like this size of small nano tank to start me off.

  • @TimeSplittersChimp The nano is a good start, it comes with good built in filtration and great lights.

  • @TimeSplittersChimp im in the same situation. I have 4 baby turtles in there healthiest condition, and a baby tortoise also healthy, but now i will be obtaining a 75 gallon reef tank. Some advice i can give is not to purchase a small tank do to the mistake, so dont go lower than a 30 gallon and go slow

  • Where did you purchase your nano cube? online? I'm thinking of starting this as my new hobby for the summer, especially after seeing your tank. What website or books do you recommend for a beginner like me. Thanks!

  • @warrtrick I purchased at Big Als online. For some info on how to start and maintain a marine aquarium, go to iTunes and download the podcasts Talkingreef and Reeftutor...good luck!

  • @paolo333333 how do you feed your corals?

  • Respond to this video... how do you feed your corals

  • what kind of lighting do you have?5000k 13w? canyou please let me know

  • @gringo406 I use the stock lights - 24w each 14k

  • out of all the nano setups on youtube this one is really the best!!

  • @gringo406 Thank you!!!

  • Very Nice Min reef! I really like it! Good job.

  • @seselapaz Thank you!

  • serious tank! would you consider getting a second clown fish? a pair might really add to the tank?

  • @1989jimbob Thank you!

At this point the 2 fish I have they just to territorials, I got 3 peppermint shrimps and they ate them.

  • how much roughly would a set up like that cost?? thanks

  • @gaelic8 About $1500 including

    Live stock.

  • Beautiful! although you may have trouble with the starfish. They can be difficult, but good luck on keeping it

  • Thank you!

    My starfish is long gone!

  • @paolo333333 Still, your tank is spectacular

  • Thank you!!!

  • It's an Anemone

  • Hi,

Whats the name of the coral that the clown is hosting with please?

    Cheers

  • Thanks!!!

  • cool tank

  • It's not hard but you need a bit of knowledge.

  • is it easy to look after the marine fish or is it easy because your is amazing

  • Comment removed

  • Hey this is a very nice tank! Love all the inhabitants that you have. Can you tell me what kind of anemone that is at the bottom of your aquarium right by the red mushrooms the looks like green grass?

  • Thank you!

That is a Neon green star polyp.

  • hey paolo how u doing? well i just wanted to say thanks for the help when i started my 12 g nano cube and now i was able to post a video of it so if u can check it out and let me know wat u think. thanks

  • I am glad I could help, I saw the video and it looks great, good job.

    Keep on posting new once.

  • hi i have a nano cube 12 gallon almost ready. do you think that a torch coral would do good later?  nice tank and u inspired me to get 1;

  • I put my corals right away and they were fine.

  • Do you have problems with your anemone moving around your tank and stinging your other corals? I'm actually about to downgrade from my 30 gallon to a 12 gallon nanocube (not really a downgrade, just going down in size) and I was hoping to put one in for my true perc clowns.

    beautiful tank by the way!

  • My anemone is long gone, it got too big for the tank.

  • Your tank has been such a tremendous inspiration to me. Thank you for all of your patience and advice. It is my first year anniversary with my nano and I wanted to share with you. How do I go about showing you my tank on youtube? Actually here is the title to mine : My 12 Gallon JBJ Nano Cube DX One Year Anniversary-MLTJ.

Please let me know what you think :)

  • I appreciate it you are very kind.

Anyway you can register a youtube account and start uploading your video within the option in your account.

PS Can`t wait to see it.

  • Your tank has been such a tremendous inspiration to me. Thank you for all of your patience and advice. It is my first year anniversary with my nano and I wanted to share with you. How do I go about showing you my tank on youtube?

  • What kind of skimmer is that ? Your tank looks great !

  • It`s an Oceanic made for nano tanks.

  • Hey I just bought a Green carpet anemone for my clowns ones an adult and a baby i put it in yesturday and they still have not swam around in it can u give me some tips

  • Once the anemone is acclimatezed and seddled it can take up to a Month before the clown gets near it.

In rare occations he goes to it right away.

  • which way are ur nozzles pointed up down side left or side right

  • i use a koralia over the main water shoot that spins around 180 degree

  • That is the most beautiful nano reefs i ahve ever seen :O

  • Thank you!

  • real quick question. how do you clean the glass near the live rock? i dont want to disturb it everytime i go to clean algae.? is there a good tool?

  • I use a blade with plastic handle.

  • Im only 13 and my dad has a 54G but it is not well maintained has tried different solutions, nice job i want this tank

  • Why don`t you help him out and try to recover the tank, 54 gallon is a great size.

Let me know if you need any help.

  • @paolo333333 Thank you also what are those grasses called i mean what type

  • it's called green polyp coral

  • and i also piggy backed an airstone off my skimmer. have you had any problems with stagnant air from having a closed top?

  • dude really? so sick!! such an awesome setup!!!!

  • Thank you!

The only thing I noticed with the air stone is that everytime I replace it if infested with algae.

  • Hi i just got a 12 gallon nano cube just like yours and was wondering how you stacked your live rock because i would like to do mine sort of like yours. Thanks for the help!

  • Make sure you get at least 3 long pieces, put the more round rocks at the bottom separated from each other and put the long pieces on top kind of like levels leaving caves at the bottom and if you can as you stack them also some on top.

  • The stock lights that came with the tank. 48w fluoreshent

  • how do you maintain evey thing in such a small tank? (what is you r routine)

  • it' s really nothing to it, just keep it clean and add the necessary elements every 4-5 days...thats it.

  • @paolo333333

hi may i know what kinds of elements?

  • Trace elementes, Calcium anf ph buffer for now....the Kent line is good.

  • A pleasure to look at, gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the video!

  • Thanks alot...I apreciate it.

  • About 2 weeks

  • how long did it take you to cycle

  • Yup!

  • Beautiful job!!

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you!

    It`s now about 1 &1/2 year old.

  • Nice set up! is it out of glass or plastic?

  • Thanks!

    It`s glass.

  • @paolo333333 Is it loud or noisy? or is it like bedroom quiet? i am planning to get one in my bedroom but i will not buy one if it gives noise but i will definitely have one if it is quiet!

  • it is a bit noisy, i would not have it in my bedroom.

  • @paolo333333 Is it loud or noisy? or is it like bedroom quiet? i am planning to get one in my bedroom but i will not buy one if it gives noise but i will definitely have one if it is quiet!

  • That is a real nice set up you did. Great job.

  • thank you!!!!

  • how often do u change the air stone in the bio cube skimmer?

  • Every 2 Months.

  • Ciao Paolo, bella vasca. Come hai fatto a far posizionare l'anemone senza che finisse in pompe o bruciasse tutto?

  • Grazie,

Alle anemone piace mettere le basi in caverne ed uscire fuori per mangiare, certe volte si spostano fin chè non trovano la posizione giusta.

  • did u ever have a problem keeping the leather healthy? cuz im gona buy a leather frag with green polyps in a week or so. does it need more flow or is it a hardy coral

  • No, it actually grew too fast I had to remove it, it`s pretty easy to maintain.

  • You need to regulate the water level using the surface skimmer that came with the jbj nano

  • with your protein skimmer how do you adjust yours. Im playing hell with mine, but then again im a noob

  • I like your tank. its nice and colorful.

  • Thank you!

  • what kind of pump are you using? stock?

  • The maxyjet 900

  • Dude, do you use an Ultra Low Nutrient System (ULNS)?

  • I am not sure what that is.

  • @paolo333333

It's when there are ultra low nutrients in the water and the corals take on a pastel colour. For a nano, your tank is really nice (:

  • Hey man just wondering approximately how much this entire setup cost you?

  • About $1500 including some losses, test kits etc.

  • Hey polo its me again.

i was just wondering what type of coral is the big purple-ish one??

  • It's purple mushrooms.

  • hey will you help me get my nano reef started? I'm not sure anything but I want to start with a nano reef and learn everything before I get a bigger setup. Actually I want to build my own custom tank one day ^^

  • Sure...no problem.

  • oh my gosh.

this looks like one of them coral reefs you only see on animal planet.

    so beautiful.

it looks like you have a chunk of australia in your home.

    But i have a quick question :D

  • Thanks!!!

  • i think this by far is the best looking 12 g setup i have seen yet

  • Thank you!

  • were did you get a protein skimmer for this 12 gallon JBJ Nano Cube

  • At Big Als.

  • @paolo333333 Thanks for the Info. Is it the Biocube protein skimmer by Oceanic. are you useing the mini UV sterilizer on this nano cube along with the skimmer.

  • No, there is really no need to....keep it simple is the answer.

  • Good job- it looks great! It's nice to see a reef tank doing well! :-)

  • Thanks!!!

  • this is the smallest salt water tank i've ever seen with live fish, you should see if its a world record

  • Thanks but there is many like mine on YouTube.

  • hey how many lbs sand did u use in ur tank?

  • 15 pounds

  • by bottle bacteria which r u talking about? i have the seachem stability bottle u told me to get . is that it or another?

  • Yup that's the one.

  • when u start the cycle u have the same things as u have in ur back chambers video? the 1st chamber- skimmer,2nd chamber- sponge and bio rings, 3rd chamber maxijet 900 pump heater carbon and orginal bio rings? i just bought all those things but ive been reading online and there saying ur nitrates will go up because of the rings? is this true? cuz i want to have everthing like urs cuz ur tank looks great. let me know thanks.

  • That is correct for the cycle just use live rocks, live sand, bacteria bottle, sponges and pump. Leave the skimmer and carbon out.

  • it will move...I have lots of spaces in my tank , only took my clown about 10 mins to host it.

  • I know, I was lucky it hosted in that spot, mine is gone now, it got too big.

  • any ideas on keeping your bubble tip happy....yours looks great

  • Build a nice cave for it.

  • I never tryed the 14 gal, I am happy with the JBJ, see who gives you more.

  • biocube 14 gal or jbj 12 gal?

  • Hi ! i have a 12gal same as ur , i try looking for protein skimmer for my tank but i don't know which one is fit and better . Can u recommend me.

  • Try the Oceanic brand made for nano tanks.

  • i have that skimmer on the same nano cube jbj 12 gallon and it works very bad its very sensible with the water evaporation it stop working it works well only at some exact water level i'm having many problems with it i actually wanna make a bigger aquarium its give me only problems i don't know what else to do i will just make a bigger one with a reef octopus skimmer help anyone please ? opinions are very welcome.

  • It is a pain to keep the water level, you dont really need the skimmer, after a wile the tank has enough bacteria to stay clean on his own.

  • Your tank is gorgeous. One of, if not the best I've ever seen ;D It looks amazing, sorry to hear about the loss of the shrimp and starfish. How'd you get the anemone out? It looked like it was thriving :) The star polyps look great too, as does the toadstool.

Anyway, the tank looks absolutely fabulous,

    Cheers

  • Thank you!

My only disappointment was that Big Als only gave $10 for it after I paid $65

  • i dont think so, the fans are working properly i just dont know what the problem is, i have a few hermits and we hav to keep it open just to stay same temp. im gonna get a purple spotted mantis for it but its the temp thats killen me.

  • My fans are not working but it didn't make a difference in temperature, in your case a chilled will do the trick but usually its best for bigger tanks, see If you find a small one.

    Good luck!

    P.

  • @paolo333333 WD40. take the lid off and spray the inside of the fan nano cubes are dust collectors and often freeze up. So try that out if not just buy a new one I think they are 20 dollars or so

  • I blew the fuses in the ballast but thanks anyway.

PS With out the fans I noticed no difference.

  • i have flurescene m actinic....something like that.

  • That's strange, the water shoul not overheat, is there any way to put them higher?

  • i have a 12 gallon nano cube tank and i need some help. i cant keep the lights on and close it because it heats to much, i dont know how to solve the problem of over heating the water, please give me some answers.

  • What kind of lights do you have?

  • doese the tank come with the protein skimmer?

  • unfortunatelly no.

    P.

  • Well darn nice tank though that has got to be the nicest 12 gallon nano reef ive seen most of the nice ones are over 50 gallons.

  • Thank you very much!

  • paolo,

I have been thinking about geting a 28 gallon jbj nano cube or maybe a 12 dallon but i am no sure if i should get the normal lighting, hqi, or led lighting what should i get and what tipe of lighting do you have?

  • The stock light I am using are more than fine for the 12 gal. I am not sure about the 28, it may be too deep for some corals.

  • Hahaha I'm getting this tank, and my first name is Paolo (I use my second name) hahaha

  • Good for you!

  • Hi Paolo, are u using the stock lights? or did u do any upgrades to it?

I have the 12DX too, i was wondering if the stock lights are sufficient for roughly the type of corals that you are stocking.

  • Yes they are sufficient for almost any type of coral.

    Paolo

  • It's a oceanic nano tank skimmer.

  • Dude you are hilarious!! This is the best video in the world when you are trippin

  • Beautiful tank! I'm thinking of starting one up. What would be the ballpark cost to set it up similar to yours? minus the fish and tank coast. I'm curious as to how much the live rocks, sand, etc... are. Thanks

  • Thank you!

Most of the expenses are at the beginning like the test kit, that can easy be around $50 then you need 15 pounds of live rocks about $120, live sand $20, heater $30 salt $25, year element about $12 each and obviously the tank and stand.

Let me know if you need help

    Paolo

  • @paolo333333 Thanks Paolo. I started my tank this week. I bought an Oceanic 14. So far it is doing OK with live sand and live rock. I will be buying some coral. Have you purchased any coral on-line? I'm thinking about it. The local shops here in NY are very expensive.

  • Great! Good luck...I actually never purchased corals online, it should be ok you need to do some research, let me know if you need anything.

  • Thank you!

All the one from the Kent line.

  • What chemicals do you dose? It looks amazing!

  • Thanks a lot paolo I'll keep alook out for your vids:)

  • Okay, nope not yet .. I only got a filter gravel heater a light and 2 plants but hopefully I'll get there soon :-P

  • Okay cool, nope I've literally got filter light heater gravel and 2 small plants, not very good yet but I'll get there soon hopefully :-)

  • It`s best to do things slowly..don`t rush it.

  • And does the water feel kinda lukewarm?

  • Yes, it never feels that worm when you touch it. Do you have a thermometer?
