  • this thing was released on my birthday!!! i better get this car when grow up lol

  • oh no it's a clean car run for the hills !!! it makes no sound oh no. it has no dubs oh no. people are way to stupid to under stand what this is.. all people want to to be is thug rapers .

  • first i must say i love oil burning cars, my old 70 ss chevelle is proof. it gets gallons per mile not mpg. but just saw this on top gear and it sounds promising. they are saying it is going to take over like the car did a hoarse. drive during the week the play with you gas guzzler in the spare time. i think it might be a good idea. and the ommisions,,,,,h2o

  • wow,I want one today how much

  • @hotcuts6064 600 per month

  • looks ugly?

  • Comment removed

  • Firstly this IS electric, not hybrid. It produces its electricity from Hydrogen gas. The problem with non-fuel cell electric cars is that they use batteries which are not as practical as petrol cars.

Example, if I wanted to drive from Edinburgh to London a battery based electric car would be near useless. I would need to stop three times and charge it for hours at a time. With a petrol or Hydrogen car you just pull into a gas station and fill it up, you're on your way again in minuets!

  • I assume you live in the UK... you have no problem to buy your own petrol and "gas" on daily basis... Well.. we do. Here is the thing... they could make the ultimate transport, but there is no business in it. Noone has to agree with me, but I believe this is a fact.

  • Yes, UK.

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say with this comment.

  • i hope my dad buys me this instead of the 09 accord ^^

  • YEAH! This is what I'm getting once it is available to buy. Screw you stupid as people that own your earth killing V8's and V6's. This is the only vehicle that matters. Those musscle cars are only for the people that don't realize they made a mistake in buying them, when in actuality they will be losing so much money since they now will have to purchase so much gas.

    Long Live Nihon.

  • goku you hippy youll have to purchase hydrogen from these people so your point on petrol costs means nothing

  • Yes, but Honda is working on making a "Home Energy Station" that will allow you to refuel the FCX Clarity. Besides, I'll just go with the Prius if it turns out that the "Home Energy Station" isn't produced. Since I only drive in the City Toyota's "Regenerative Braking" will recharge the Prius's Batteries allowing me to produce no exhaust. Since it's only at mid range speeds that the Prius's petrol Engine starts, I'll just stay in the City to never use my Gas.

  • wow. that is a really retarded thing to say. to put it basically you will always use fuel because you wont get all the power you put into moving the car from the brakes because there will be energy lost elsewhere. you will eventually have to use gas to charge the engine.

  • Actually, No I won't. I won't because there is at present a Conversion kit to convert the existing Prius to a "plug-in" Hibrid. This conversion will enable the Prius to get 100MPG and not emit any exhaust while at speeds of 35MPH and under. Additionally, Toyota's "Regenerative Braking" will still recharge the battery during braking as normal thus Allowing the converted Prius to avoid using the Petrol Engine for a longer duration than normal.

  • and where do you think that electricty comes from? it will take hours to charge a car from the wall, the prius may be more economical but you will have to use some sort of fuel, whether its from a coal power station or petrol you will be using fuel. and regenerative braking might boost the battery but it doesnt make an effective enough contribution to the battery. your gonna hav to decide cheap but still polluting prius or expensive clean fcx

  • You do realize you cant buy the clarity, only lease it for an "affordable" $600 per month, and only in California since no other state in the US has the infrastructure.

In any case, I would rather drive around in a cool old muscle car like the Dodge Challenger N/A than a 4-door Honda. The day the auto industry makes an electric or fuel cell sports car that doesn't scream eco-nerd to the world, I'll buy one. Until then, I'll stick with my Lexus SC400 V8 coupe thank you very much.

  • I am tired with high oil prices. This time the arabs and other oil rich countries should think hard if they would really want to continue seeling oil at current value. They should realize they are making alternative enegy cheaper and the downfall of their oil industry because of greed.

  • People driving 50+ miles a day for a comute are also ignorant. Move! Your killing the rest of us just because YOU want to work in the city. There's no jobs in your home town? You can't find -anything- to do at home to make money? Nothing? Even if you did I doubt it makes enough to afford that 200mph sportscar.

  • People here use electricity because gas isn't available. Takes more resources to create the hydrogen and biofuels than it gives. I guess if we used enough gas in our homes we might keep the tank full but what about those of us who have cut our consumption to the bone and don't use air conditioning. Where will the hydrogen come from if we aren't consuming another limited resource. Start building fueling stations and the cost will be the same as what we pay for petrol. Nice try but it won't fly.

  • One thought is to rely on nuclear power, it provides energy without consuming natural resources. Seems like a solution to me.

  • It's a great solution except it's too complicated to be affordable. That statement is only based on current human greed. It could be made affordable but the people who run it wouldn't be. I can't see any reason a hand valve has to cost $5,000.

Greed is what's killing earth. Nothing more.

  • hmmm.... ill stick to hho boosted diesel for now, and of course condoms and pills buhahaha

  • stupidity is the problem, not overpopulation

  • 1 step forward, 3 steps back.

  • Overpopulation is THE PROBLEM!. . . the ONLY problem!

  • Absolutly, the UN estimates that the world is over populated by around 4 billion people. There are only so many resources to go around, yet no politian seems willing to even accept over population as the primary cause of our resource shortages. We turn a blind eye at our peril...

  • What resource shortage?

  • This is RIDICULOUS! Where the hell do they think this hydrogen will come from? it takes ENERGY to creat hydrogen. . . far more than is given back when it is converted to water again. And what about all this water being put back into the environment? Has anyone concidered what that will do? And when all of these conventional cars begin switching over. . . what about the unforeseen affects like happened when cars switched to catalytic converters?

Limit your family. . . that is the best thing.

  • ......where will hydrogen come from? Hmm... let me think. Everywhere! It is the most abundant source of energy in the world. Also what about the water were putting back into the world....hmm.... i dont, the same place we took it? The only problem that may occur is condensation and a lot of it. Other than that, this is a step in the right direction and our best option. Unless you know something else.

  • I know something else. GM, Ford, ect. knows something else. Why don't you? Because no one tells you. You'll hear about flodding, tornados, and gang wars before you'll hear a news segment on battery technology. Don't forget who owns the FCC.

  • Which is?

  • All you will need to get 68 miles per gallon? My guess your total initial "investment" with your home refueling station- 50 to 75 thousand dollars.

For now, I'll wait for the oil market bubble to pop.

  • What is the cost of hydrogen compared to today's national average of $4/gallon of gasoline?

  • if more cars come out like this you better sell your car well before these hit the roads. The conventional fuel based car market is going to slowly collapse. It already is now!

  • My only concern is that with hydrogen power we will no see 200mph monsters, or even anything that comes remtely close to 500bhp+ road missiles of today - enjoy 'em while you can :(

  • You've never driven electric have you? I'm not talking about any of this crap from the automakers either. Well, maybe the EV1.

  • Name one hydrogen powered car that can go from 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds & crack 200mph. I say hydrogen as I do not feel electric only cars, due to their limited range, are realistic.

  • Humans don't need 4sec 200mph cars but some are arrogant enough to think they do.

  • Need? Ever heard of FUN? Wouldnt like to to what your idea of a perfect world. Also, did it ever occour to you that some people actually travel great distances to work because they HAVE to? I suppose youre idea would be for them to remain unemployed. Get a grip on reality, the situation is nowhere near as simple as you seem to think. You cant just undo the past century because it offends you personaly. Maybe you should get off your high horse & suggest something practical, or be quiet.

  • My idea of fun isn't driving a 200mph car. I'm quite happy doing 0-60 in 4sec in my Miata with "only" a top speed of 130 but I get 30+ mpg with it. The people who can afford 200mph cars are the same ones charging $4/gal for gas and $300,000 for a single family home. The same two reasons someone has to comute 50 miles just to afford the cost of living and his payment on the Minivan.

  • So? If some one can afford a luxury then its that persons right to purchase it. If you have a problem with that then your argument should be against an unjust society. The more you write the more I tink you'd prefer to live in a comunist state. I hear China's starting to take off, something to think about? Personaly I believe in live & let live so I'll stay here, where personal freedoms are prized.

  • Enjoy your gluttony while you can. Only 6 to go! Your almost there!

  • I think the reason you talk so much crap is because you have your head up your arse, wich in effect provides you with a near limitless supply of 'talking absoulute shit'. Ergo, you are living proof that nuclear power is the way to go. I'm done humoring you now, go & play with someone that cares.

  • Ignorance is bliss. How does it feel being a sheep? ba-a-a-a-a-a

  • How very insightful, I am very impressed, well done. You should rule the world seeing as you know absoulutly everything & everyone that dissagrees with you is wrong by default. Ever thought of running for president? I think you'd do well. Honest.

  • n a greener note, have you ever tried saving energy by blow drying as you shower? Give it a try :)

  • Yeh? How's that working out for you?

  • How is what working out for me? I take it you dont understand sarcasm. Again, I am deeply impressed by your wit. Genius.

  • That was scarcasm. What is your fascination with trying to insult me?

  • I dont need to insult you at all. You are plenty capable of humiliating yourself without assistance.

  • Oh this I got to hear. Do go on.

  • who wants a rolls royce? BUY A HONDA FCX MAN!!!

  • I hope we can see these cars all over the US hopefully by 2011 or were in trouble BIG TIME!!!

  • actually, the cars are not our biggest polluter. It is the Meat eaters of the planet. It takes 75% of oil/fuel to run the companies to product the grain to feed the animals that meat eaters eat. Believe it or not, our cars only pollute about 10% of CO2 emissions. But yeah, we're in trouble either way due to OVERPOPULATION!

  • it produces enough electrictity to power a house.

therefore, when it's not in use, plug it into your house's grid and leave the engine running. if eneryone did this, domestic electricity consumption would be reduced to zero and you'd get free water out the exhaust as a bonus!

  • If we hadnt eaten meat mankind would have died out a long time ago... blaming pollution on meat eaters is ridiculous.

  • It beats $6 Gas

  • TOTALLY worth the 600$ a month lease!

Can't wait for the bay area to get a refueling station so the fcx can be released here as well

  • a purple prius.....lol

  • Definitely a step foward.

  • Look, if you want to knock honda for tring go ahead. Heres the reality- no one else is doing this ie moving towards a clean vehicle for the masses. Since they realized there is no infrastructure they came up with the home refueling station using common natural gas and actually doubling as a heat source and means of producting electricity on a micro level. Name the competing auto manufacturer that is doing the same. There arent any. Stop complaining at least theyre trying unlike Ford, GM, etc.

  • Hydrogen is a red herring, why waste energy making the hydrogen, storing it in industrial tanks, transport it in compressed tankers and hold it in tanks at filling $tation$? So you can pay more for it.

Plus Hydrogen cars wont be affordable anytime soon, its a PR stunt and delay tactic

    We need Plug-in electric cars!

The Zenn for neighborhood commute, and the i MiEV from Mitsubishi sounds promissing; 120km/h 200km/charge 4 seats at around 25K$, good enough for me ;)

  • Put them in other cars? Lets see some new cool suv with this and I will buy it, 68 mpg yes pls

  • Another good thing about this type of car is that when its stuck in traffic its not using any fuel at all

  • cheaper to buy a prius and modify it to a plug in electric change the batteries and off you go . NO GASOLINE !!!! NOT to FORGET

  • This is nothing but a PR stunt.

Big badge auto makers make these eco cars to make themselves look good. There is more profit in building & maintaining the combustion engine unfortunately. So they have these 'eco cars' ready for production, but will ONLY produce them at the LAST available moment! IE. Either when the small independent firms make eco cars which threaten to outsell their conventional cars or when gas runs out!!! They're about as committed to the cause as Exxon or Mr. Bush are!

  • Why would they care what powers their cars, all honda want to do is sell the sort of thing people want to buy, and their will be a lot of interest in this, but they can't sell them without the infrastructure in place

  • Awesome Car - I want One!!

    Joe

  • The honda FCX clarity almost looks like a bigger toyota prius.

  • It almost looks like a big prius

  • A big prius? I guess it's about the same size.

It does look very good, i would definitly buy such a car if hydrogen was available at every gas station.

  • lemme guess 0-60 12 sec's

  • No, actually 0-60 in 8.3 seconds.

Not the fastest car in the world.

But 0-60 in 8.3 sec with absolutley no bad emission is pretty damn good.

  • awesome car

  • wow, that is amazing, that thing feuls your car and heats your home just using natural gas

    thats actually really great

  • at 2:20, the tires look flat

  • lol at first i thought that the car drove by itself and turned on the headlights by itself because i couldnt really see anything

  • wow, the world needs these cars!!! Get them out as fast as possible for normal prices. Integrate new electrlyse methods to generate hydrogen on-the-spot, so you only need a tank of water to get going!

  • earth needs car like this! i love muscle cars but iam willing to get this car

  • Honda was able to get lithium ion batteries to be "safe" why can't Toyota? I wonder how Toyota feels about Honda coming out with a fuel cell car before them to the market. I know its limited but still...its great step in the right or one of the right directions.

  • About the, car... Why does every hybrid car have to look like this. They look like crap! They are way too long.

  • INTRODUCING THE HONDA.... DUNG BEETLE!!! biofabric?! are you friggin serious?

  • it looks too much like a prius too

  • the back is too long

  • is that dr. phil talking?

  • haha, I was thinking just the same. It really sounds like him

  • LMFAAO!

    SERIOUSLY MAN!

  • But don't you think it sounds like him? :P
