  • It's weird to see Djokovic from back then. His ground strokes are so much more fluid and heavy now. His most aggressive points in this match are how he plays all the time now. But nothing against Santoro. He's an incredible talent. I just wish I got to see more of him.

  • oh Nole I'm embarrassed for you - getting schooled by Santoro? That one scramble BH get was incredible but Fabrice has the ugliest FH in tennis

  • wow djokovic forehand looks more enjoyebole in 2007 then 2012! really nice forehand shot!

  • santoro, his tennis is as crazy as his gears :)

  • The play starting at 00:35 is hilariously lackadaisical. Is this really professional tennis?

  • @channelislander

    no it's 70's tennis by Santoro ^^'

  • Seriously????????!!!!!!!! :)) woww

  • Santoro = Safin killer, Safin = Djokovic killer

  • Santoro has the one handed forehand/backhand and two handed forehand/backhand.

Never seen a weird player like that. Well done.

  • another world number 1 santoro played :) and beat!!!

  • @ortonlegend

Obviously Djokovic wasnt world number 1 in 07

  • @lazerz69 He was no. 3 though, so he was working on it :P

  • Santoro, what a man

  • @Giannantonio83. You obviously do not fully appreciate the sport then. This man was adored wherever he played. He was unorthodox and cunning and such a humble player. So before you open your mouth you may need to learn more about the game and learn to appreciate some of it's elder statesmen

  • Santoro the magician! Really miss his cunning shots, his changes of pace, the way he sneaks up to the net after his approach slices. So entertaining!

  • Time when Santoro can win Djokovic.

  • Proof positive that even the pro's have problems with pushers and junk ballers, not just us amateurs.

  • whoa o,o ive watched a few of his matches before and this is the first ive ever seen him soo serious.

  • It was a sad day for tennis when Santoro retired. :(

  • i love santoro

  • Santoro is such a legend! unorthodox players are so good to watch :)

  • funny how santoro won this match yet all of the highlights are mostly leaning towards favoring djokovic

  • @TheDrowsyMadcap i don't think it was leaning towards favoring Djokovic but if it was then nothings wrong with it, Santoro played a very passive, defensive game. DJokovic had more down the line, cross court winners.

  • @chrisrrox1 winners do not make highlights ;)

  • Santoro is one of the player who can still keep the fascination of tennis. he make every shot become a magic, and it is sad that we lost a such wonderful player.

  • Santoro is so cool. I love his shirt.

  • Tennis sure has gotten much more....Colorful......

  • 6:49 - 7:01 Awesome ...

  • You can tell Novak was still green and inexperienced. Just playing into Fabrice's hands. How can you go time and time again to the court side where your opponent is at, when there's plenty of open court left to exploit. For God's sake don't test Santoro's sweet hands, and Novak got a taste of how sweet they are. hehe. Nonetheless, the immense potential truly was there.

  • Djokovic should hav jst stayed at Wilson, now his Head

  • Pleeeeaaasssseeee.... Dont get me started. Ok if u play tennis, anyone can tell that all santaro is doing is pushing, literally. Djokovic tries so hard not to lose concentration though, but still... Tennis is tennis. So hey im not truly mad at the guy.

  • is this the slowest match ever to happen at the paris indoor?

  • Santoro was an amazingly talented player... he was just too old at the end of his career... but still able to suprise!

  • No wonder Safin hated playing him...

  • the winner in this match was santoros shirt

    nice shirt santoro

  • no doubt Santoro was a great player and a nice personality! :D

  • whoa whose that cutie at 3:28

  • santoro looks like a young version of michael douglas, heheheh

  • santoro should have won 6-2 6-2

  • it's always fun to watch santoro play....

  • Santoro is not only ridiculously fast, his ability to make last minute adjustments and decisions when reaching the ball is humbling. such a mature player

  • I think that the shirt is a Lacoste, maybe a special edition. And of course, Santoro was a great player!

  • Wow, Santoro really impressed me there

  • I really want a shirt like santoro's. No joke.

  • What the heck is wrong with santoro's shots? Can't believe he hits with two hands on his forehand...

  • Santoro was "spawned" by the the millions of park players around the world. He is proof positive that unorthodox shots, if practiced enough, can cause a whole world of pain for your opponent - long live park players!!!!!!

  • @contemplation09 yeah... how many park players you know are "in tennis shape"

  • @contemplation09 Unfortunately, Santoro never had any consistent serious results in singles.

  • @Pundit2k it's true santoro hadn't the body to be a top player

(a bit like Rochus, another talented player)

but staying in the top50 at his age and with his limits was great

  • @gr0chibre Yes.

  • @contemplation09 I don't see park players using unorthodox shots anymore. They're all imitating the pros now, with those incredibly banal topspin groundstrokes. Which park are you playing in?

  • @Pundit2k What's interesting about Santoro is his ability to hit unorthodox shots with consistency. I play in parks in London and New York - and will forward you a vid of some of the unorthodox players I come across. They often make the banal topspin jockeys go crazy!

  • @contemplation09 Looking forward to it. Thanks.

  • @contemplation09 So whats a park player?

  • @affenkeks A park player is anyone who uses public/municipal tennis facilities. Describing someone as a "park player" is often short hand for describing a players standard (e.g. someone who does not play that often and has inconsistent stroke production ect).

  • @contemplation09 Santoros game has nothing to do with practice. He's pure talent.

  • Santoro's shirt is really really cute. Wonder where he got it?

  • why didnt santoro ever win a major? this guy has amazing talent and ability

  • Nice shirt santoro. :P

  • Just fucking brilliant.

  • his shots are so very clever

  • such shot selections! goodness...

  • Fabrice Santoro is so entertaining to watch - he deserves his nickname 'The Magician'

  • djokovic having hard time creating his own pace

  • lmao Djokovic is a good player, but its his first time playing against someone like Santoro, a pure pusher lol!

  • too bad he had to retire this year...i hope he play some exhibitions

  • santoro is the magician!
