  • Roy apparently isn't in the habit of trading eights, and he continued to solo when Joe started.

Roy didn't do nearly enough chording to allow Joe equal solo time.

  • what is the guitar of Joe Pass? Is it a gibson es 135?

  • mesmerising

  • Joe Pass: "Don't mind if I don't not hammer the bass notes as I adjust my seat and put the pick in my mouth."

  • So nice seeing to bad asses together...Joe was out of this world man!

  • What a joy! It might have been a crap day to start with, but it's just fine now. It's amazing what you can throw around tonic- dominant. Well, it's amazing what they can, anyway.

  • Are ya shitting me? Holy Crap!

  • holy sh..... in the good sense of course.

  • Joe Pass!

  • wow i was taken somewere =] fuzzy fealing under a tree with a soft breeze

  • They make it look so easy.

  • Right, Jambalya is it...be more authentic if Joe Pass played an occasional straight chord instead of all those vaguely voiced chords that have an alphabet of accidentals after them...prefer John Fogerty's version-has a better soul

  • the way joe goes from playing bass, comping, playing bass to single note soloing!..

  • Two of the more talented guitar players I can think of playing together, playing jazz! That rates this side of heaven to me...

  • they used to let Roy cut loose on Hee Haw and it was great but to watch these two guys together is well i am speechless

  • Can somebody tell me why "charlie bit my finger, again" have more than 3 milion views when this is on youtube? Shame.

  • impressive how joe can keep on goin' just by hammer on's when he get his pick....

  • never heard of Joe Pass until 3 days ago...... wow ..... where have I been

  • Awesome....definitely one of the absolute best guitarists...no distortion boxes so if you screw up you don't notice it....no room for errors and his fingers move over that neck like a hot knife through butter...Great video.

  • I'd like to see Slash or Mars try to keep up to these guys

  • Joe Pass is a jazz icon and legend, and greatly missed. But Roy Clarke is an Americn treasure. He is one of the most under rated players in our country's history. And he is still going strong! Throw in his banjo, voice, acting, singing and comedy and you have some combo. All we get now is Spears, Bieber and their auto tuned clap trap.

  • I love this!

  • haha turn down roy's guitar mr. engineer

  • This is totally amazing. Two of the very best

  • Joe Pass is beyond words. A real musician. He was so seriously ill here and yet you'd never know it. I was luck to've met him in London in 1977.

    What a gentleman he was.

  • Joe Pass is GIANT!!!!

  • i used to watch roy on hee haw .it was very cool to see the guitar play so well by a funnyman

  • Two of the best in the world toe to toe....

  • I bought a Joe Pass guitar, and it still don't play like that

  • @TheGenehusky

    yeah....but was it autographed?!

  • @kingblee1 ..Yes it was autographed...I was commenting on my ability not the guitar..

  • Damn, these guys know their chords, haha! Joe Pass is THE fingerpicking jazzer!

  • just awesome.. tks for the post..

  • WOW! Is this one of those"Led Zepplins"I used to hear about back in the 70s?

  • Great music, but disturbing editing with the constant crossfade effect... :(

  • WOW 2 worlds collide!

  • 1:58...not even pickin', but still swingin'!!!

  • Joe Pass way > Eric Clapton

  • WELCOME TO "GUITAR HEAVEN", EVERYBODY!!

    This is SWEET!

  • This is Bonerifical :D

  • awesome video

  • Thank you for uploading. Two legends !!!!!!!!!

  • Joe Pass is the Joe Pass of Jazz Guitar.

  • 2:00 fixing his glasses and playing walking bass...genius

  • @orenbroder

he was just casually reaching for his pick actually.

  • @orenbroder

Looks like he took pik out of mouth while keepin rhythm goin, nice

  • Wat een gast!

  • hahaha amazing !!!!

  • Oh my, now THAT was sweet!

  • sex

  • Great sounds from two very good guitar pickers.....wonderful...10 stars......

  • Roy and Joe you guyes are amazing. Thanx for such nice sound!

  • The blonde I was thinking of was Misty Rowe

  • Joe Pass kind of looks like Ghandi!

  • This is simply a GREAT moment in music that we are lucky to be able to witness!

  • hands down one of the most amazing shows of mucisianship that i have ever seen i cannot explain how impressive this is to watch and listen tone style theyve got it all BEAUTIFUL

  • This video is so awesome !!!.... I love watching How Joe really gets into it and really starts to enjoy what is being played. That video cuts off a bit soon but Im sure Joe must of gotten up and said "That was good!".................and I cant get enough of Roys tone and playing!!

  • your totaly right it is a really good video gives a close look at both players style of playin

  • one year before his death

  • Wow! Thanks for the post.

  • Joe comping all over the frets and around Roy's notes ...beautiful magic

Gonna listen to more - soon as I get my breath

    Thank you!

  • awesome! :)

  • Thank you very much for posting this video, fantastic musicians, thank you again

  • Those notes aren't on my guitar. I think I got ripped off at the guitar store.

  • LOL I know what you mean, man.

  • yeah my guitar wont go that fast either!

  • Put one of those gearshifts on it. That's what they're there for; you shift into a higher gear and away you go. Trust me.

  • @GymFloozie yeah yeah, those notes aren't on my guitar too!

  • @GymFloozie best youtube comment, ever!!!!! good one!!!!!! :)

  • @GymFloozie I had a good laugh at that comment! I think I bought my guitar at the same store as you!

  • I love this!

  • These guys can sure make a guitar sing!

  • this is some of the cleanest playing by Joe pass.

  • Quite a toe-tapper! Gotta love two elite musicians just throwin' one down!

  • I like the part from 1:55 to 2:05 when he thumps with his left hand to get his pick with his right hand out of his mouth. That always gets me.

  • this is fucking buck wild... Totally over my head. I am speechless.

  • Great, two chords,a million notes.

    A nice fish fry

  • I give Roy a lot of credit for taking a foray into Joe's world. There's something magical about the feel and sound of late swing/ early bebop.

  • mio dio che barba!!

  • Make that man shut up and stop spoiling this great video.

  • These are the shit!

  • Top musicians here, for the most part 'jammin'.. The level of skill is mind blowing. Rest easy Joe.

    Thanks for this .

  • I like Jambalaya always.

  • a m a z i n g! great shit man

  • Wow! Two of my favorite guitarists from two different worlds. That's a wicked combo. It's like watching Hee Haw while wearing Old Spice cologne. I took a few lessons from one of Joe's best students. I still suck.

  • "It's like watching Hee Haw while wearing Old Spice cologne."

    Awesome.

  • ah to surpass joe is an impossible task.

    he is just amazing

  • I'm going to go make my guitar into a beautiful lamp.

  • If this don't help you, then nothing will. Inspiring stuff. Go to it and be the best you can. Good Luck.

  • In my opinion this session was some of Roy's best work. Joe was pushing him to open up, and he did. Great stuff.

  • nice stuff!

  • Absolute masters. I'm mainly a metal fan, and that's what I like to play, and I love Eddie and all those guys. But let's get serious: nobody in metal can take a flake off the iceberg of Roy and Joe. Joe's ryhtym stylings just blow me away.

  • mka800: If you don't know of him already, you might also like Jerry Reed. As for a modern country guitarist, you might just like Brad Paisley as well. Not to mention Brent Mason and Johnny Hiland.

  • We're converting metal guys to chicken pickers, one dude at a time.

  • freepatriot: The sad thing is that that has to be done, in some cases...I mean, I don't get why so many musicians--not just rock and country musicians, but also jazz and blues musicians--are so close-minded when it comes to music.

I sure couldn't imagine a world of guitar work without Chet Atkins! Of course, I also couldn't imagine a world of guitar work without Eddie Van Halen, Buddy Guy, Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery, Stevie Ray Vaughan or Dick Dale!

  • This stuff is smokin', no doubt - There's just no way I could pull this stuff off. Hats off to Roy, I grew up watching him and Buck on Hee Haw, just awesome.

  • I know most want to hear wattage and less substance.

What can you do? Brains are given out at birth, it is ones obligation to use them.

    Thanks - I don't know how good I am ?

I'm just happy when I can get people listen.

Thank you for posting this - that took genius.

  • Joe Pass &Roy Clark are the best...

  • Wow. That just made my week!

  • i am going to search to see if there is a CD of this duo

  • There is a cd of this exact version of Jambalaya and other Hank Williams tunes.Dan

  • And, if I may add, it's superb!!

  • Masters of guitar. Awesome and humbling to watch.

  • JOe Pass is JOE pass........

  • This is the video everyone should be watching and it has

    1157 hits. Come on...

  • 2100 now. =o) these guys are true virtuosos (sp). Awesome to watch.

  • 7,000 but still not everyone can appreciate fine music and guitarists like you and me so that why the # is so low

  • guitar is the greatest you can play it so many ways roy clark is so cool and what can you say about joe just the greatest check out joe playing aint misbehaving on oscars tv show the sit down and practice

  • That is so SWEET!!! I really enjoyed seeing all these songs posted here... I like on Jambalaya at about 1:59 Joe Pass reaches up with his right hand to fix his glasses while he keeps the bass line and the chords going with just his left hand... He was so cool!!!

    Thanks for posting these...

  • Actually it's to grab the pick out of his mouth.

  • I think Joe died in 1994. But anyway, with his great music he's still alive. THX for sharing.

  • Thanks... I was initially going by the date shown in the credits. I corrected it.

  • @BuckFosil9 I wish there was more of these kinds of videos on here. Even some more live video of Howard Roberts...?
