@harleynicole17 He never drove (being scared of dying in a car accident..ironic, right?) His girlfriend Gloria Jones (writer of the song Tainted Love) was driving them home early morning after a late night out, the car left the road after crossing a hump-back bridge on a wet road, skidded off and hit a tree. Marc's side taking the full impact. No other car was involved. Sad as he was just starting to come back on the music scene in a big way!! :(
He sounds like he'd had a night on the coke before. He's dithering - trying to be witty but sounding maudlin. Forty years and guys can still not wear make-up in the street. I am sure that he could have shown his legs - Ever heard of the beach?
the most handsome men i've ever seen on the face of this earth!
and oh...when he smiles...gorgeous,sweet and sexy! listen to his voice and his words you just want to take him in your arms arm squeeze him and just give him all the love you've got!
I have been experimenting with music lately, I'm 17 and I love rock 'n' roll. I bought Bolan's greatest hits the other day, and I think it's brilliant. There are some sweet songs. Rock on Bolan \m/
"cause 10 years ago the pop stars couldn't even talk"... That's always been the case. People like Marc are (or were) exceptions. Most popstars will always be morons in front of the camera.
My mind exploded when I heard him Say the name "Bob Dylan" One of my biggest idols talking about my and probably his biggest Idol(Saying this for his artistic last name "BOb dyLAN), how surreal.
Bolan was so cool. Style, Lyrics, and good ol "Popish" Rock tunes. Very nice to see YouTube having many Boland clips. A great big thanks to all who have uploaded them.
Why do you post things like ''R.I.P. Marc''? Sure he's dead, but it didn't happen yesterday nor does it happen in this video. It's history and if he's not a zombie and no ones trying to dig him out of his grave, I'm sure he's already resting in peace for a long time. So leave it. Learn to appreciate what his saying - I love what he say's about teenagers not being around to hear all the great music back in the past. New musicians should note that when writing new songs.
yeah... i get what u mean about teenagers... u see a lot of modern bands singing about how everything of today is better than the past and disrespecting early bands... but really they should acknowldege and see that they are the future
@AijaP why do you care? people show their love and respect in different ways, who are you to tell them how they should do that? mind your own business.
Poor little Marc. It's so sad to see how fragile life is. I hope he's found peace in that next life. I'm just glad that his music lives on--he has so many loyal fans still.
How right he was about "every five years there's a change"--in five years it'll be...
and then punk happened! And Marc was of course at the forefront of it, putting the latest bands on his show...he knew of which he spoke, even when he was coked out of his mind, as he clearly is here...
He IS a real starchild, still is. It really was wrong that he didn't survive but the one who's the fault was did make it. A little similar case than James Dean's one was, the one who crashed him survived and he not. Always beautiful peolpe is taken.
God, I wish he'd taken a cab or not have rrdden with Glorida, who was drinking and very tired at 5:00 AM. Frankly, I wished she'd died and he had lived.
i dont know i think thats a horrible outlook to have she would have been gutted about his death more than anyone but it was an accident. hindsights a very gd thing but she didnt no she was too tired or whatever. i love marc but dont wish death on someone
People forget those that were left to mourn other than Jones. She took Rolan, left for the US as soon as she was able so she would not be prosecuted for vehicular manslaughter (in police report). Mr. and Mrs. Feld were left to mourn their son and their grandson. June Bolan was devastated. They never quit loving each other, could not bring themselves to finalized the divorce, still married at the time of his death. What about these people? Did anyone care about them, was it all about Gloria?
Am I the only one who thinks he sounds like a bumbling idiot? I liked his music and maybe he would have done great things if he had lived longer. But he sounds delusional when he puts his contributions on the same level as the Beatles.
He's so right on all those points. Like rock stars leading a cultural revolution by expanding to different creative mediums - and that has since happened!
I know he died of a wreck but how did it happen, like was it someone else's fault was there two cars and how did they crash????

When I think of Marc Bolan, the word 'sensual' always comes to mind, so it was cool to hear Marc use that word in this interview.
Anyone know the details of this interview, i.e., when/where/what show/who the interviewer was, etc.?

This guy influence everyone from Bowie, to Prince, to Paul Stanley, and to not see that is just blindness.
