If you believe any US-president, even the damn Obama is going to bring Peace in middle east and put a pressure on Isreal, im telling you now, YOU FUCKING DREAMING. When Obama went to IAPAC he made a promise....do you know what? yeah.. While Isreal is building new houses and driving poor palis to the dessert, what does Obama do.. like any other US president.. GIVE A FUCKING SPEEEEEEECH.. AND HE WILL DO OVER AND OVER THE NEXT 3YEARS.
And lastly, the Save Darfur people can go fuck themselves. It's arrogant. Why weren't you griping about Iraq or all the other dictatorships killing their own people? Why is Darfur the only important crisis? Don't be all pick-and-choosy like fundie Christians. The US is NOT ever gonna send "humanitarian intervention" military troops into Darfur. America First, dammit. We've had enough of crap like the Kosovo-NATO shit.
People should voluntarily get involved in this kind of stuff, for the most part. They should be allowed to decide whether or not to contribute money. The state should not be coercive. Besides, I highly doubt G-8 and G-20, like the UN, are really that powerful in terms of giving real change.
Politicians should butt out of that stuff and let individuals and NGOs and other voluntary associations work their magic. Progress will be obtained much faster. For example, microfinance works great
I don't want a dime of my tax dollars going to the UN or any other global political organization, esp. without MY consent. Governments have no right to do this BS with G-20 or unicef or whatever. The PEOPLE, esp. concerned wealthy people with the money, should be able to voluntarily help out, but there should be no forced payment of tax dollars. I mean, what, are these world leaders representing us in G20 or G8 trying to say "All of my citizens agree that this is good"? I don't! fuck em
Instead of getting further involved in the Mideast and trying to "save the world", why don't our leaders fucking try to help Americans out for a change?? I'm tired of us being the world policeman or acting like just b/c we're wealthy and powerful, we have some silly 'duty' to defend the world through government action. The people should decide if that's their agenda, not gov't. And I'm tired of us telling Israel and Palestine what to do. "Israel must..." "Palestine must" Can it, Obama.
We need to stop butting in on this issue. Has any politician ever considered that MAYBE, just maybe, the reason we can't get Middle East peace is because we can't stop butting in? Perhaps it's time for a change of course, a noninterventionist change. Get rid of all American military in the Middle East, end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and let the nations heal themselves. If they wanna be idiots and prevent peace on their own, fuck em. I'm tired of this shit.
Give it up, Obama. This conflict will probably never be resolved, and we're foolish to think we can force both sides' hands. Let em fight and duke it out. If they wanna be that stupid, it's their choice. Why should we risk more of our security by getting involved and further angering the Muslim world?? It's pointless! This conflict has been going on for 61 years, and we still don't have a resolution. The only other major military conflict lasting this long was the Hundred Years War.
The interventionists have all the say when it comes to the US and Mideast, and us noninterventionists keep saying "I told you so!" but get ignored every time. They just say "Oh, well, you're just being cynical. We can't afford to do nothing."
That's the big Obama slogan: We can't afford to do nothing, so we have to do something, even if it's worse than doing nothing. What a gip! We were so close to Palestinian-Israeli peace in 2000, but those fell through, so it's very implausible now.
How about threatening to pull US support of Isreal if they continue to break international law with new settlements in Palistinean lands? Let the city Jeruselem become it's own state like the Vatican, and share it among all faiths.
i'm beginning to think that peace is just a pipe dream that world leaders give lip service to. if we wanted peace we wouldn't be fighting 2 meaningless wars, if there weren't 2 opposing factions in the middle east who would we sell arms to? the military in this country is running the show now, just as it did with bush. what would they do with themselves if they didn't have a war to go to? look at all the money that changes hands in conflict..... peace doesn't sell and peace isn't profitable.
flyyspit - the only thing that speaks volumes is how you expect a tight head shot to encompass the whole stage. - check out other camera angles of the event - the Palestinian flag was there.
But you didn't really care about reality, did you - you just needed a visual token for your outrage.
if this is going to be like the healthcare situation then obama is going to compromise everything with this so called peasedeal to israel so that they can still settle in Palestinian lands
From a Washington Times report on the talk, " Behind [the podium], a US flag, an Israeli flag, a US flag and a Palestinian flag." The Palestinian flag is not in the camera's view.
