what a great video. I have seen people on the street corners with the hate posters. Why would anyone want to put their trust in a god that promotes hate. how is this spreading the "good news". i'm Christian and when i see the crap that people do "in God's name" i just want to throw up. Please remember that all that stuff in your video is extremism and not the way christians are supposed to be. thanks for making me think. i wasn't listening to the lyrics, just a response to the visual.
Pretty good video, but some clips and images didn't really resonate with me in a way where I thought, "Yes, that's what Ben Folds is talking about." For example, the tattoos of Jesus, the Baptism scene, the Jesus Camp kids. Also, the CCF, WWJD braclets.
I always felt that the song was about the appropriation of Christianity by neocons and the far right. Perhaps it's just me, but a lot of the images didn't show that.
Well, the video was really more about what I wanted to say about religion, and less about what the song was actually talking about. Although, I feel like the line "Billboards quoting things you'd never say" pretty much sums up what I was going for. My main issue with religion is that people do it because it's trendy (hence the tattoos and the bracelets). The Jesus Camp kids just freak me out and I thought they were a great representation of the real fanatics of religion.
Some of the ways that people have hi-jacked Christianity are downright creepy. "Free Thinkers Are Satan's Slaves" is so 1984. Cool video. Creepy, but cool.
NICE! It's amazing how similar this is to what I was originally planning for my photo essay, which turned out to require way too much original footage than I had time for. You're right about the music timing - especially about the billboards. That worked out so well! Maybe you can add more video/images to the beginning in place of all the driving. It made me a little dizzy and seemed to drag on. Did you get some footage from "Jesus Camp"? If not, check it out. It's a crazy documentary.
Joel Osteen should appear in this video.

Thanks. That was my point, really, to show the extreme side and all the hypocrisy. And the crazies (ie, the Jesus Camp kids).

Thank you. I think the creepiest part for me were the clips of the kids from the documentary, "Jesus Camp". They still make me shudder.

This song is about how Jesus must be repulsed by how some people have perverted his message, it's not an "atheist rock" song.

Great job! As an atheist who has been corned by people reading C.S. Lewis aloud, I can relate to Jesusland!
