To put this to the end of discussion, NASCAR has been racing on road courses since 1954 in New Jersey at Linden Airport. Then NASCAR moved to riverside until the 1980's. Between Riverside they were and still is racing at Watkins Glen and Infineon Raceway. NASCAR is REAL RACING and has the best drivers in the WORLD.
watkins glen the "Bus stop" was added to that part of the track because its actually one of the fastest straight with a long sweeping turn in the end the turn is also banked which at the rumble strip in the middle of the turn if you are going to fast will become like a ramp and you will have another death like "J.D Mcduffie" thats why the "BUS STOP" is there...................
Ugh, NASCAR still exists? I can't think of a more irrelevant form of racing unless someone somewhere is still racing Model Ts. That might be more entertaining actually. Scratch that, that's unfair. When NASCAR turns left AND right it's pretty entertaining, but still irrelevant.
@VRossi4Life Nice, so you watch racing because of the direction they go? No wonder you're so disappointed. I personally watch for the speed, the racing 4 inches apart at 170 miles per hour, the wild wrecks, the photo finishes, the bumping and banging, the rivalry and the emotions. And if that doesn't interest you, you should probably take up Backgammon.
@wogolfer Eh, I just don't enjoy circle track racing unless it's on dirt. To each their own. One more thing, don't hate on Backgammon. A sport of true champions!
Bottom line reminds like this. Nascar refuses to race in the rain even though they are on a road course and refuses to race on the real Watkins Glen race circuit.
No matter how hard people defend this, its makes a mockery of real road racing.
maybe if they used the AQUATREDS yesterday this wreck could've been avoided. the trans am series races in the rain, the busch series raced here IN THE RAIN are sprinty boys too PUSSY TO GET THEIR RACECAR WET?
how does nascar flagging work, full course yellow yes (so wave yellow), but the blue flag for an incident in their sector, do they not yellow flag individual incidents?? only if a full cours yellow is anounced??
@luked2323 No they didn't...a car had FLIPPED on the racetrack, I have no issues (for once) with NASCAR calling this race when something like that happens.
Can someone say how does the nascar races are called, when they got many turns on the track? Like this one,or more turns, like in F1.

jimmyass 6 months ago
@jimmyass Same as usual road races. Local yellows for sectors under caution, full course yellow for when a SC/ Pace car is needed.

@47ambrose42jpm why the blue flag then?
jimmyass 6 months ago
@jimmyass No idea for that blue flag. Maybe the marshal was bored.

@oOcrazy95Oo Nascar isn't necessarily an oval or circle shape always.....They very often more so on the EU, race on "normal" looking tracks.
