It doesnt sound like a gimmick at all...? It does what it says. You can throw it in your bag and spritz it on at the beach and it will be cold. And you cant pop your body spray in the fridge and take it to the beach, it will automatically go back to being warm/room temperature.

But yeah, aresol sprays tickle my throat too :/

I have this in the sweet pea scent and I agree with the overpowering product thing, it is a little bit uncomfortable to inhale lol but it does do a great job at cooling me off hehe...btw I LOVE BATH AND BODY WORKS!!! I think I have every scent they've ever had...seriously lol and I plan to get all of their new ones, the forever sunshine, passionfruit, coconut, linen, tangerine, and pear are the ones that I'm going to get the next time I go here pretty soon...hehe

@fionatastic You can get the Evian water in aerosol form to spray your face! It's the metal can that makes it cold.

i got this for 6 bucks at the semi-annual sale, so it wasn't a total loss. i loooove these for hot southern days. they're so convenient to throw in my bag. i spray it on my chest, back of my neck, and arms when im desperate for a break from the summer sun. its a gimmick, yes, but it really does make your skin feel softer, a little smoother, and you immediately feel cooler. and, because the scent is pretty strong, you become a lot less smelly :D it does what it says <3

You're probably reacting to the CO2 in the can which also cools the product as it exits the can. Almost like the same effect you get when you spray canned air on your electronics. Those cans have warnings on them about spraying in your face and making sure the area is ventilated. My tongue has actually gone numb from overusing them on a dusty computer lol. Those canned mists do come in handy at a super hot and sweaty softball game though although I prefer the unscented Evian one.

Hate aeresol cans so much! It gives me like this weird "tickle" in the back of my throat, really uncomfy. Seems like it would be a good thing to use if you're at like the beach or amusement park... maybe?

i own 2 of them I got them for a family trip to Six Flag Over TX and would be in the sun for HOURS me and my aunt both used them after we got back to our hotel and she was REALLY sunburned (even with sun block on) and I wasnt even tan at all lol but the aloe in it helped her sunburn within at least 15 mins. So I wouldnt say this is one of them have to have it things (mine each have only been used 2 times) ALSO have someone else put it on you. it was a little fun putting it on myself lol.

ive actually used these for when i got sunburnt at the pool one day..(not severely but enough to annoy) i love using these for when you get sunburnt.. its cooling and refreshing.. and leaves a hint of a scent.. although they are the same thing as the body sprays.. i like these better because i feel that the cans hold the temperature better than the bottles

i guess the alcohol is what gives these a cooling effect, which is pretty darn bad. i say, it's better to stick with a nice bottle of cold water.

i have the same problem when i spray it. i dont like it. i only have one and i tend not to use it because i dont like it. sometimes i use it as an air freshner so i can walk away from that weird feeling

and that would be a hassle to put a body spray in the refrigerator, you cant take them with you cold if you want to cool down while youre out on a hot day, and the spray would get icy in the refrigerator and it would look weird if someone came over hahaha

I bought the lemon cooling mist and I'm not sure if its just me but whenever i spray it on I feel a prickly burning sensation after 10 minutes. I wanted to love this product because of the yummy scent but i'm hesitant to use it now. And I have a full can. :(

i get the point of putting the other regular splashes in the fridge, but when I am outside at the beach or pool where I really feel hot, how cool will the body splash stay? probably not long. with the cooling mists, it will always be cold.

I have keratosis pilaris and for some reason these sprays agrivate and dry the skin on my arms. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the kp or not. For $3 though I might go get more... I just really dislike the spray can.

These are a complete gimmick and waste of money. I just keep my body splashes in the fridge too. More refreshing, better for the environment, and sans alcohol. Much better.

I believe that the idea behind the cooling mist is if you go to the beach in perhaps 100 degree weather the body sprays will heat up but the cooling mists wont due to the aerosul cans. Eventhough the body spray feel cooling at home they definately would not remain cool in hot outdoor weather.

But another great point is that if you dont have the cooling mist, and you have the body mist refrigerated, it will eventually heat up & not be cooling anymore..like if your at the beach or something, the body mist wont always stay cool. So it is great to have the cooling mist on hand. So your not really better off sticking it in the fridge.

i disagree about the scent intensity, I think they are way stronger than the fragrance mist and last alot longer. I do agree about taking a deep breath in-spraying the damn thing-then run away!

i created a make-shift cooling spray after buying one and being disappointed. I put my regular body spray/ perfume in a sprayer that you can get a walmart and mixed it with aloe and put it in my fridge! i spent no money on the stuff and the one i made is better than the bath and body works version

It's probably an irritant or something that you may be allergic to in the spray that effecting you when there's too much of the BBW mist.

I have two of these and right when you spray them all you can smell is the butane, which might be what gives you the feeling in your throat cause it does it to me too and it kind of feels like heavy air if that makes any sense! But that smell goes away in a couple seconds. Anyways, i have a sunburn right now and it takes my breath away to spray this on cause it's so cold! But the body spray in the fridge is a good idea, that's where i keep my after sun gels and lotions. I love your reviews! xoxo
