  • Division is division. Wrong is wrong. The KKK is as absurd as any group whose membership is all one race. As long as there is this kind of division... we will never be peace.

  • @alekshindin I know I'm not saying it was right, you did not even understand the full context of my comment, read the comment I replied to.

  • @Standoman6546 He was a Confederate States of AMERICA general dumbass, the civil war was brother vs brother!

  • @TheBigfranco1 Enslaving, betraying and murdering your brothers isn't somehow better than doing it to strangers.

  • I had this song pop into my head and when I showed my 9 yr old where it came from, he said "who are they???" to which I replied "oh just a bunch of nuts that we used to have running around this country a long time ago." He had a hard time buying that they were real.

  • anyone know how i can be a member?

  • im 100% african american and i like the f...ing song...WHAT!!!

  • @bizzert2000 I have the O Brother soundtrack on my phone so I hear this song pretty often, as far as I can tell the song isn't itself racist.

  • ol' time music sounds good anywhere...

  • creepy ass song

  • @Pagoas1 look up supernatural version. will blow your mind

  • its not color guard dumbasses in real life the kan has different colored robes to represent there rank in the organazation

study up b4 you talk shit

  • The color guard is colored!

  • wow, glad soooo many people realize....wait for it....ITS A FUCKING MOVIE, get over your own ignorance before you justify the verbal diarrhea that spews from your mouths.

  • this is the stupidest unniest shit i hwve ever seen

  • Who needs a white knight to protest?

  • This would be scary as shit if some random people who happened to be hiking in the woods who didnt know about the filming saw this in real life.

  • @RicketsXXII something tells me this was filmed in hollywood, or somewhere where they wouldnt risk looking like a klan rally about to execute someone.

  • @thatusernameisunavai Well, "something" done told you wrong. There was no "risk". It was filmed in Mississippi, just like the rest of the movie. All kinds of different people were under those hoods; black, white, a couple of Asians and an Hispanic or two. All of us extras were being paid, all of us knew it was JUST A MOVIE and not real, and all having a pretty good time. The south isn't what you think it is, so stop stereotyping it.

  • frkn GREAT movie..

  • lol, i should blast this song in my dorm....let it drown out that annoying rap music.

  • All hail the torches. . . we can throw them in the fire wand watch them burn in hell. thumbs up if you agree.

  • This is not a Clan Song but it went well with the Senario in the movie.

  • Since when is Ralph stanley a klan member?

  • if there is a better soundtrack out there, please let me know.

  • @debbieonharp well, minus the kkk marching sound. The singer is pretty good.

  • @debbieonharp nope. This movie was 4-5 years before that show. Plus it was written way before. And this version is way better than the version you speak of.

  • the stoal from supernatral

  • @debbieonharp Please tell me you're not being serious.

  • G-g-g-g-ghosts!!!

  • Fucking no brain motherfuckers don't know shit damn Klan anyways....

  • I actually bought the song after hearing it in the film. Very catchy yet haunting.

  • If slow whites would ever look at the rates of violent crime against our people they'd realize that there was something to what The Klan was and has been saying all these years.

  • I didn't know the clan played musical chairs on Saturday nights!?!?!

  • @DancesWithDarts On their off days they also pick up some extra cash by guarding the witches castle from the Wizard of Oz

  • @DancesWithDarts i really like your comment, i genuinely believe that the best way to deal with the ridiculous racism inherent with this song is to ridicule it, the whole idea is ridiculous to me.

  • @tpettit517 We have the luxury of laughing at the KKK today. In the 1920's and 1930's they literally ran several states and had an incredible amount of power to control, abuse and murder Americans with impunity. They're ridiculous, they really are, but lunatics with guns and ropes and the police department and the governor among them are a lot less funny than the pathetic morons today who bring 1,000 times as many counter protesters out against them everywhere they go.

  • so much more threatening than any other version with the present evil of all the ignorant fools

  • @standoman6546. Actually, Robert e lee was a decorated American general from the Mexican war. He graduated in the top of his class from west point, and good ole Abe asked him to lead the union forces at the beginning of the civil war. Lee couldn't bear to fight against his home state of Virginia, however, and so joined the southern cause. His father was lighthouse Harry lee, a hero of the American revolution, and lee looked up to both him and George Washington. He was just as American as gr

  • any one else get wizard of oz flying monkeys?

  • The dixie was never a symbol of slavery, it is the symbol of the south. There is no hatred or racism attached to it, just pride in ones heritage. The north had it's fair share of slaves too. Slavery is a part of AMERICAN history, not just southern.

  • Look, just because you're proud to be southern doesn't mean you are a member of the kkk. I am proud to be southern, and if I had a Dixie I would fly it. But both Robert E Lee and US Grant are heroes of mine. Because they were both great AMERICAN generals.

  • @averagejoe532 You love your heritage so much that you forgot it? The south did not want to be "AMERICAN" what do you think the civil war was about? When they left the union they attempted to divide the United States and create their independent nation, meaning of course that Robert E. Lee was technically not an American general.

...I must ask you a question because you seem like the type, how can you have pride in your heritage and still love a country your ancestors fought and died against.

  • The color guard's colored! LOL

  • ralph stanley's voice is so unsettling...

  • @hyghiaumtym I'm glad there are those who appreciate this clip for the musical content. Ralph Stanley is a hill music genius...

  • @zipporahsgal yeah dude :) i'm 19 now and i'm a massive hip hop fan, a raver and a metalhead xD and this movie has been in my system since i was around maybe 11 or 12, can't remember when exactly it came out, but it's an amazing movie and the sountrack deserved every grammy it won :)

  • I fly a confederate flag, not because of hatred. because of heritage. Your prosecutions of ignorance and hate are well undeserved. What I do hate, is northerns, for having the opinion me and my brothers are nothing but slack jawed idiots with nothing better to hate than people of a different color.

  • @VisigothicBerserker I'm a direct descendent of Light Horse (harry) Lee and Robert E. Lee and I wouldn't fly a confederate flag if I was paid. Regardless of feelings towards color, being proud of that heritage and past almost validates the idea that you are a slack jawed idiot. It would be like me donning Swastikas because of my heritage (mothers side). Simple minded post once you ignorantly brought hate into your commentary for little reason.

  • @coolcoollo your no southern if your ashamed of flying Dixie's flag. As I am positive General Lee and Harry Lee would be ashamed of you aswell. Why dont you grow some balls boy. You think its shameful to be proud of heritage? Well here comes the part where I just stop talking to you because your too much of a moron.

Brought hate into my commentary for little reason? First off commentary is used in the wrong context but i get what your saying. and little reason is all i need to do anything.

  • @VisigothicBerserker

    "Northerns" don't have such opinions.

  • My apologies for interrupting a good conversation on race and bigotry (having grown up in the south, I feel that conversation is important. However the point I'd like to make is that the singer and song are so well suited to each that it gives me chills listening to it.

  • luv it,luv ulster!!!

  • Looking back on this scene.. that is some creepy ass shit right there.

  • Wish I was alive in this time. Fuck 2011.

  • we have come along way!

  • A Klan meeting...and me with out any grenades.

  • @MealeaYing Nothing more true than this. And it's also way more brave and bold when separated by thousands of miles of telephone wire.

  • this just gives me the creeps.

  • squash th hate, i liked the movie and was wanting to know who sang this so i can tag my mp3!

  • @pj0n it was Ralph Stanleng btw singing

  • i'm a nigger and i like this :)

  • KKK!

  • i don't agree totally with the klan but i do understand why they think like they do. anyone that has long hair and listens to country in a "ghetto" gets treated so bad but if they say anything about it or stands up to the ones doing it is a racist. mean while every time they leave their house someone breaks in and steals everything not nailed down. its easy to start blaming every one around. im just sayin

  • the kkk is a horrible thing it shouldnt matter what color you are or where you came from we are all people and we are all the same. we all matter in the world and actually thinking that one person matters less is a awful thought. nobody should be jealous of each other and nobody has the right to be. racism is a horrible thing and we should just be happy with each other and not care what everybody looks like we should only care what we look like.

  • Man i like the guy in the red.

  • Ignorant assholes come in every color.

  • @WEEZER08274MH but mainly red and white...at least in this movie.

  • @DjTokenMusic And whatever race you are for saying that stupid asshole

  • @DjTokenMusic right you clearly misunderstood me.

  • @WEEZER08274MH And good music comes from the strangest places.

  • @UncleSpankification The whole O Brother soundtrack is fantastic.

  • Stop discussing racism, enjoy the incredibly music :x

  • humanity IS differentiated in races. Racism is to think one race is better than another. I for one thank god for the beautiful variety.

  • Well by the sound of you it sound like you have half a brain ....dude ! And no we are not from the same ''shit'' .

  • @MetalfurY12 the idea of races is quite old dude ... upgrade your brain, we are all the same shit

  • I came here to listen to a song. But I got white sheet racism (I currently don't know this dumdass group's real name) all up in my face.

Oh and by the way; I'm white, and proud to be it. Just like you should be proud to be black or asian, or any race for that matter.

  • I love this film..U know KKK n the BLACK MUSLIM MOVEMENT'S head leaders would meet and talk in secret meeting..IT LIKE THE BLACK N WHITE SQUARES ON CHECKER BOARD AND Y'ALL GETTING PLAYED LIKE A GAME...WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!!!! But I love this movie, amazing acting and music,PEACE SUNZ OF BITCHES lol I'm just playing, peace out...

  • Oh, fuckin' fantastic. Some dumbass mentioned Justin fuckin' Bieber on a OBWAT video and it's top comment WELL-DONE, GUYS

Good lord, sure never heard a "WISH BIEBER WERE DEAD" comment before

    +50 ORIGINALITY POINTS

  • @superspongenova

Thank you, I thought I was the only one getting sick with it, hell I actually had to look up JB just to find out who he was! Disgraceful.

  • @AndrewDeLong Liking this scene has nothing to do with having the issues you're trying to promote... Really... Nothing... I love this part of the movie... A bunch of morons parade in robes and plan to hang a black man... What happens? It's awesome the way it's played out...

Kind of like when we love shows like The Sopranos.. What's the best part of that show? The come-arounds.... :-)

  • Why did the KKK have to ruin such cool looking costumes! Just like the Nazis ruining the swastika!

  • @nottoberemembered If you study the org, you will find that it has been smeared by left wing media propaganda. America ,and even the KKK was never anywhere as violent back then as the media lets on. Want proof? Why has America's prison population risen parabolically as a percentage of population since the KKK has been virtually eliminated over the last 40 years?

I have the link to that prison population chart in the comments of my channel.

  • @AntiRacistRAntiWhite

They still ruined the costumes, just like how Justin Bieber haters ruin most youtube music videos. But I'm not sure what your point is, in saying the KKK aren't that violent are you defending them or just saying that they are badly represented?

  • @AntiRacistRAntiWhite

The Reason that the prison population has spiked in the last 40 years is because of the enforcement of anti-drug laws. But you're a racist, so I don't expect you to follow logic.

And you will say that you aren't a racist, which I won't be able to convince you out of your own delusion, but I will spell it out so others understand.

You say that prison rates have gone up since the KKK has been eliminated. The only way I can imagine that you connect those two facts

  • @AntiRacistRAntiWhite is by assuming that crime has gone up because Blacks have been given more freedom. Blacks therefore, in your mind, are inherently more violent, in general, than whites. That makes you a racist.

  • @passerby25 Statistics do not lie. Even with the KKK, the old 89% White America was a non-violent nation of law-abiding people. Look at the prison population chart again in the comment section of my channel. America's prison population was extremely small, even in the depression. If you do not believe that after looking at the evidence, YOU ARE THE RACIST.

  • @AntiRacistRAntiWhite yea your dumb!! they werent non-violent they never got caught,or in trouble, because they were friends with the law,but more importantly they wer the law, only and idiot would say the kkk was non-violent.

  • @jjcool472 i wouldnt say they were friends with the law but they were friends with the law enforcement since kkk was a christian society which back then ment that they could do what ever the fuck they wanted to do cause it was all the work of god and only divine intervention could stop them from doing so (or just people opening their fucking eyes but whatever trying to be dramatic here :p) they had the support from almost everyone in the white community. which is sad :p

  • @jjcool472 I NEVER said that EVERY ONE of the 6 million KKK members at its peak was a model citizen,DUMMY. What I did point out was that when America had a huge Klan membership, there was far, far, less crime than today by any measure. Statistics do not lie. Anti-racists DO lie.

Look at that prison population chart that I have in the comments section of my channel again.

You anti-racists keep beating the KKK-hate drum for an almost non-existent group while crime skyrockets.

  • a good song.

  • I heard a version of this song in a Supernatural promo and couldn't figure out where I'd heard it before until now.

  • i like that SOME people inform them selfs before getting into an argument on youtube

  • I love this song ... and i'm black... is that wrong?

  • @Kentrellthewudpusher

Not at all. Good taste isn't limited to race, religion, or creed. That you like this song is fine. Now, if you like this particular SCENE....then you might have some internal conflict issues. Lol, but hey, what do I know, I'm just a media student.

  • @AndrewDeLong Lol thnx because i was like.. do they really sing this in the KKK? lol good to know and hey i'm just a junior in highschool xD

  • @Kentrellthewudpusher

nah its not wrong. this song is older than the clan. it's an appalchian ballad about death that is as old as the people who've lived in appalchia. in fact, many songs that were lost to the americas could still be found in the appalcian mountains from oral tradition

  • To like the song? Not at all. It really is a great song. I love it.

  • this song is the shit.....for real

  • AND HE SINGS SO WELL TOO...:L

  • the movie looks alright but its fucked up what the ku klux klan is doing for a living

  • This scene totally made me think of The Wizard of Oz.

  • This scene always used to absolutely terrify me when I was younger...

  • I thought it was funny as hell how they crashed the lynching.

  • great song, great movie.

  • oi the earth is 5k yrs old didnt u get da memo???

  • How this video entertains any discourse other than confirming how horrible this organization is, I will never know. The internet certainly is as much a tool of de-evolution, as it is one of enlightenment.

  • Why is the KKK chief called the "Red Dragon"?

I don't see what do the dragons especialy red ones have to do with a bunch of inbred rednecks, and short sighted hillbillies. They are deminishing the name of the greatest of all mythical creatures.

  • @Srksius2802 Ok, first off..there is no such thing as a "Red Dragon" in the KKK. I think you meant "Grand Dragon". That said, the KKK was originally set up in a sort of paramilitary fashion with lowers to uppers etc. Now robe colors can vary from Klavem to Klavem but the ranks go as follows and with the most common robe colors. White Base Klansman, Black Nighthawk, Gold Kaliff, Red Kleagle, Green Grand Dragon, Purple Imperial Wizard. And, No I do not assciate with these knuckleheads!

  • @hippocripp ok my bad by why is it a dragon???

  • jajajajajjajjajaja

  • NIGGERS! hang em all

  • @kygrizz65 I Must Agree!!!

  • Are you people serious? I'm as white as a sheet of paper and can't believe what I'm reading. It's okay for a person to hate on another because they have more pigment than another? You'd think that type of thinking would be over.

  • @mistatt2 there is no explaination except pure stupidity for that kind of thinking!

  • @mistatt2

white people are jealous because of pigment

  • @mistatt2 While I agree with you, you have to realize that that way of thinking will NEVER go away...EVER. Only a small portion of the world believes that racism is wrong, the rest will have those feelings whether it is because of tradition, upbringing, or even tragic events in life. Even if the feeling of the equality becomes common place world round there will always be pockets of resistance, and to think otherwise is not only naive, but just as wrong as those who have racist views.

  • @mistatt2 Im not racist but yeah I completely understand how people can hate other because of the color of their skin. That makes a lot of sense to me. I mean think of all the wars that have started because of much less.

  • Man i would love to kill them with a MG

  • @jenn07100: If you want to blame the population boom of blacks and browns, start with your white women. They are the ones flocking to these so-called "animals" and breeding. Some people want to blame black people for EVERYTHING!!! Seek out your ancestors and find out why they bought the slaves over here in the FIRST PLACE! They're the ANIMALS that ripped men, women and children away from their families and FORCED them into slavery.

  • for a while i thought he was saying 'odin' which does kinda make sense if you know enough about it..

  • Ok I just thought this was going to be about Ralph Stanley, but I guess I was wrong.

  • Did you know that this scene is based off of a scene in The Wizard of Oz, when the Lion, Tin Man, and Scarecrow are trying to rescue Dorothy?

  • Klan aint nothin but a bunch of niggers. and I mean that in the bad way not the term of endearment.

  • lol @ strategoulas.what a random statement lol

  • @lilbrandon1987 lol ;p

  • BROTHERS! O brothers we are gathered here today......

  • Dr. Stanley is the man. His songs voice me gosebumps. I think this scene is really funny since he is an Obama supporter!! Haha!

  • WHITE POWER

  • When I was a kid I always thought that the tops of the klans mens heads looked like shark fins. :P

  • @MultiMrsmiley thought they wore dressed up like ghosts. lol.

  • This is a really cool pick for a song in this scene. The actual song is a full conversation between death and a dying man/woman. But the Klan leader only sings the parts attributed to death. And Robert Stanley has the perfect voice for this song.

  • ooooooOOOOOoooOoooo Deathhhhhhhhh takeeeeeee Justin Bieberrrrrrr withhhh YoUUuUuUu plEaSeeeeeeeeeee

  • @strategoulas Ahahahahaha =D

  • @greennailedhead hahaha :D

  • @strategoulas LOL LOL LOL!!!!

  • lol, colorguard

  • The Irony is, if these KKK idiots dressed like this in an Islamic Country, they'd be married off to their own male cousins.

  • @Loobs666

How's that ironic? And the robes were chosen because it makes them look they're "knights" or something.

But for the most part, the KKK consists of inbred hics.

  • Comment removed

  • @KittyRokher

they wear robes because when the kkk started(or what ever they called themselves back then) either after or during the Civil War they put on robes to make themselves look like ghosts of dead Confederates to scare and terrorize blacks

  • @Zabuchi25 Thats one theory for sure. The other is that it represented the purity of the white race...Just my .02..

  • @Zabuchi25 Well, you're half right: the KKK began a little after the Civil War in Tennessee as sort of fraternity for ex-confederate soldiers seeking a little fun and excitement to alleviate the boredom and malaise they felt in the reconstructed South. Initially, they weren't even about terrorizing ex-slaves. Instead they were more about doing things like pranks on whole towns and flashy ceremonies. Their motives and actions changed over time as the Klan became more popular in the south, though.

  • @Zabuchi25 To scare and terrorize criminals, carpet baggers, Yankees, exyankee soldiers, scallywags and traitors. and yes some went rogue and were dicks to the black population. but for the most part the klan you see here and the 1st klan have nothing in common.

  • @Zabuchi25 Not only blacks but jews homosexuals catholics and pretty much everyone but white men who were baptist or methodist

  • @Zabuchi25 That is the anti-south propaganda version of history. The fact is that there were many clashes for a decade or more after the civil war ended. The KKK was founded as a DEFENSIVE org against northern raiders (which sometimes included blacks) and carpetbaggers taking advantage of the poverty and hardship created by war and years worth of punitive retroactive taxation assessed to the south after the war ended.

  • @KittyRokher now it does. It used to consist of very powerful white men. Like senators and governors.

  • @KittyRokher You'd be surprised. It's not uncommon to find some of the most educated members of a community in the klan. Not saying I support it but the fact remains.

  • @dralshyar93 Its because the factory owner is the one who spreads the racist hatred, it keeps his workforce angrier at the adjacent social class, instead of the wealthier and healthier upper class.

The factory owner also loves the priest, because the priest can spin the very words of god and use them to throw men against each other in anger.

He hates the newspaper writer though, because he always tells a story, and thats why he bought the printing press.....

  • @BowskiBig It's the mine owner down here. Do a little reading into the monsterous things the yankee carpetbagger has done to the poor working classes of Eastern Kentucky. It's a tale of oppression after oppression.

  • @KittyRokher Fuck you. KKK rules. WHITE POWER.

  • @KittyRokher You have no clue what you are talking about. I have some knowledge of the clan, as one of my past relatives was a member. They are not "inbred", nor are they "hics" as you spell it. In fact, their dumbest member is most likely twice as wise and educated as you. Do research before you spew more of that liberal diarrhea from your mouth, sissy.

  • @Chris9183

As I have knowledge as well, considering I've studied them for a while.

And bullshit. I realize that not all of them are inbred hics, but that's a little something called an insult. From what I have seen, the KKK is no longer simply the educated, if racist, organization it started out as. It is now filled with skinhead faggots that go around thinking they're Nazis because they are racist (apparently they don't know the translation of Nationalsozialistsche Deutsch Arbeitrpartei).

  • @KittyRokher You say racist like it's a bad thing. Also, there are "spinoffs" that call themselves the KKK these days that include the skinheads, to the point where it's difficult to even locate the original organization anymore. No real KKK member would dare display the swastika, because many of their fathers and grandfathers fought against the Nazis, and would not disrespect their family by doing so.

  • @Chris9183 Actually...hate to break it to you...but I was in the kkk for quite some time. I left because I thought that life was bad. I'm now a Christian. But anyway, they display swastikas during induction ceremonies and many other meetings. Yes the do.

  • @morganfinley3 Then they should be ashamed for insulting their own ancestors who fought against that swastika in WWII. I agree with the KKK's message, but showing the swastika is the wrong thing to do for that reason.

  • @Chris9183 why preach hatred...are there moments in life that are are not beautiful, even if only 4 awhile? ^_^

  • @jenn071000 It is not hatred, it is the last-ditch effort to preserve what little is left of white culture, country and society before it completely goes extinct due to the massive, uncontrolled population explosion of the animals known as blacks and browns. One day, if our race is saved from its impending extinction within your lifetime, you may thank people like us.

  • @Chris9183 white culture? what the hell is that? murder? fear? bigotry? ignorance? beer? nascar? nobody is going to thank you or your types for anything except leaving the room hillbilly.

you know if you had some black or brown "animal" in you...you might have genitals...instead of that thimble and an empty bawlsack in your shorts.

  • @kylethompson4 How cute. Typical of the nigger (or nigger lover) to bring up "MUH DIK SIZE" in their first reply. So predictable. Back to Africa, nig-nog.

  • @Chris9183 :) maybe in your next life somebody will bother to educate you. But for now you just go on playing the village idiot...you born for the role! Oh and God Bless you :).....Christian? My Ass! LOL
