  • I guess he hit a lot of the notes.

Welcome to IDOL: frequent style and rare substance.

  • Okay, so it's not his thing, but he should still be able to memorize the lyrics. What he's saying doesn't even make sense. And come on, by this point, there were more than enough pop/rock musicals that he should have been able to find something better.

  • i cry. </3 pippin

  • He cant sing showtunes hahaha

  • ITS SHOWTUNES!! - it was pretty awful tho haha

  • oh gawd, this is awlful. D:

you can hear Paula saying "IT'S SHOW TUNES!" at the end...but if this was for an audition, i think he wouldn't be asked to perform.

  • wow. this is hard to watch.

  • I love Pippin and I love this song...but this performance was simply awful. It's almost as if Bo and whoever arranged this for AI went out of their way to divest the song of all its inherent beauty and feeling. Randy and Paula must have no idea what a proper rendition of "Corner of the Sky" is supposed to sound like, judging from their praise.

  • No, you're both wrong down there. The original broadway musical, directed by Fosse was in 1972. The staged movie came out in 1981.

  • He butchered the lyrics... and the arrangement was not exactly fantastic.

  • its so annoying that Simon gives him a bad review and everyone boo's him.. are randy and paula really that naive? uh did they not hear him MUMBLING in a national competition to find the best performer in America? you dont even have to know the lyrics to know he was completely lost from the beginning.. i do think he's a good singer tho

  • remember him! this is the song that made me like him so much!

  • I love this where did he go???

  • hahahaha.."i don't like the thunder" was it? "winter comes after fall."hahahahaha..I'm sorry can't help it.BWAHAHAHAHa:))so scattered brains in this one.

in fairness, it's hard to sing something that ain't your thing.good vocals though.

  • Not 1972, Bice, 1981!

  • This song came out back then, but Fosse directed it in 1981, so he's half right.

  • compared to the origional i didnt like it. however had i not known the origional, id say he sang fairly well.

  • BOB FOSSE!!

  • although i love this song...not by him.

he messed up some of the lyrics

rivers were made so they can ramble?!

  • From the minute the orchestration began, disaster was spelled.

  • I don't like this arrangement and I don't really think he knew what he was singing.

  • I'd have to say that this song wasn't one of his strong points. Of course, during musical week, how the hell could he pull it off.

If he could be allowed to compromise like David cook did with Billie Jean, he would be able to pull it off.

  • He could've done something Hair, maybe.

  • There could have been some really good performances if the contestants actually knew what was there. The emotions from these broadway shows are brilliant.

Oh well, I hope they do another Showtunes night.

  • hahahahhahahahahahahhaha, its disco rock pippin its terrible.

  • holy god he masacered that song. I'm 30 seconds in and i can't bear to listen to anymore of it.

  • This may be the worst rendition of this song I've ever heard.

  • he kind of ruined this...

  • wat ever so not pippin

  • "it's show tunes"...paula...wat does that even mean?

  • are you seriously asking that question. Show tunes...never mind...a thespian just died...

  • im sorry i think you misinterpreted what I was saying...

at about "2:41" seconds, Paula says quote:"It's show tunes", she says it like its an excuse for why BOBO sucked at singing the song, like as if "show tunes" isnt real music. I am a believer that some of the best songs ever written are show tunes, and paula is an idiot for thinking otherwise...thats what i was trying to say.

  • I don't like it =[ The beauty of the song was its slow simple melody...I always wish that they would do a competition in the same way as American idol but for musical theare.

  • at 33 seconds he seemed to forgot the lyrics! Well, actually, he forgot the wrong lyrics. "*mumble mumble* thunder! Weather comes after fall! sometimes i think i'm not after anything at all! Rivers were made so they can ramble . . . you ask me if i'm happy there. nevermore than i've been. sometimes i know the truth is like laughter on the wind . . . " somebody needs to see their lyric sheet.

  • Wow. Bo didn't seem to have a clue of what sort of emotion he was supposed to put into this song. Broadway songs are about telling a story, he was just singing a song.

  • Not a great performance, no, but a less feminine version than some other tenors I've heard on youtube this morning.

  • this was an interesting version, but i recommend you check mine out! Let me know what u think!

  • this is not what i am looking for definetly.....

  • I've heard multiple recordings that use these lyrics. I know they're not the original but someone apparently liked them...numerous times.

  • i hate what he did with this song

  • terrible bo bice. u wanna be a superstar not a west end performer.

  • AWESOMMMMMME!!! That is an amazing twist on this song so that Bo is in his element! That Rocked my socks :)

  • What the hell? Plagerism/ butchering an awesome song. Asshole.

  • a bit of an insult to schwartz aint it?

  • He killed it. Change words much?

  • oh. my. god.

    he killed this amazing song!!

  • well he sings it well, words? eh

  • y did he change the words soooooo much?

  • 0i never realized he did this song

  • Lol. He failed so badly. xD The only line he got right was eagles belong where they can fly.

.. the background music kind of scares me mixed with this.

  • he changed the words is that such a crime? gosh

  • Well. Yes. THe words are what they are for a reason.

  • This is one of S. Schwatrz's most beautifully constructed songs,...along with "No Time At All", from PIPPIN. If you posessed the talent or inclination to pen the lyrics AND melody of this entire score, thatgirl2905, I'll bet you'd be singin' a different tune. ( ...almost as 'different' as Bo's . His is not an arrangement, it's a 'dis-arrangement'.).

  • someone should've told him about rent

  • this is kinda really bad....he messed up the lyrics badly ...as we all know

and its not supposed to be a rock song...its supposed to tell a story....but he did a decent job other than those things..

  • He didn't know the notes thank you simon (for once)

  • He does not know the lyrics

    does not know the lyrics

    does not know the lyrics

    does not know the lyrics

    does not know the lyrics

    does not know the lyrics

    does not know the lyrics

  • although he has the lyrics different, i looked them up, and they had once existed within the song (they were changed before the premiere). why he would use these discarded lyrics though, is beyond me...

  • The thing is, he messed up. He has that look that performers get when they think "Oh Crap, I probably should have worked on that part." lol

  • Best song from PIPPIN. I was in it. Listen to the PIPPIn album and there will be a big difference. John Rubinstein who originated the role of PIPPIN is Better.

  • he killed it. hed be better with a sweeney todd song

  • whoa. I think it sounds horrible. sorry but the original is awesome. he screwed up.

  • wow, he screwed up the lyrics ... lol, i never really found these lyrics hard to screw up...

  • He forgot the lyrics! That idiot! AAAAAAargh!

  • he screwed up the words shit

  • whst was the theme that night?

  • It was musical week.

  • It is kond of funny seeing Bo sing this song. I actually enjoyed it though.

  • Bo Bice is so hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey now. I'm just as much of a fan as the original Broadway version of this as anyone. But in the same respect, this is a show to find a POP idol, not a BROADWAY idol. That was the goal of You're The One That We Want, and that didn't go to well. So while I personally don't like this version, I think they had to change it up to make it more pop-ish.

    Yes. :]

  • this made me sick. sorry. ya the lyrics are from the childrens version. simon is right, he needs to stick to his style.

  • at first I cringed but it kinda won me over by the end - if only they didn't screw around with the lyrics

  • wow they seriously messed it up... im singing this 4 chorus and he totally messed up the words the beginning wasnt even the true beginning it got messed up

  • wow they destroyed this song

  • christ yes. ugh.

  • haha,

    no it's not just you.

that is hilarious... haha. although in his defence possibly there was issue with the rights to the lyrics or something... who knows. but pretty funny

  • no this is actually the lyrics to the childrens version of the show. i don't know why he sings the childrens lyrics thow. quite peculiar. *thinks* *head explodes* :)

  • is it just me, or did he TOTALLY mess up the words?

  • yea he did it everyman has his day dreams, everyman has his goal, people like the way dreams having a sticking to the soul, thunder clouds having their lightning, night in gales have their song, but dont you see i want my life to be something more than long......etc,
